Gorethirster wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2020 10:58 pm Just for reference, what does an Oghman breakfast look like? I defaulted to assuming Eno had basically prepped a spread of donuts/danishes and self heating coffee, but somehow it seems wrong to imagine space vikings eating flaky pastries unless they've just raided a fancy banquet on another planet.
Oghma is an ice-desert, so food production is limited. Plenty of geothermal energy, so grains and vegetables are plentiful, grown in glasshouses. Honey from the insects that pollinate the dome-farms is common. Fish are easy to farm in the underground hydroponic farms, for protein. Larger animals are hard to care for in the thin atmosphere, usually only available to the very wealthy, so bacon is rare. Milk and dairy products are likewise expensive. There is synthetic meat of course, and "vegan" cheeses.

Bread, pastries, porridge, smoked fish, synth-meat sausage, "cheese"...

I suddenly understand why the Oghmen are so willing to die on a foreign planet just to steal someone's fancy shoes.

They're more likely to leave the shoes and steal the fancy person.

Each player should pick a skill or stat to train in

First jump i think ridley will just familiarise himself extensively with the ships controls and nav etc ..... new ship etc ...
That's a given. Unless you want to improve Pilot or Astrogation specifically. You could chose to improve another skill, or learn a new one, or improve a Stat ( like eight training for Strength, or reading widely for Education ). It will take time to earn a point as all the player characters are quite skilled. As a house rule there will be bonuses for spectacular success or failure on a skill ( we learn more from a double-one we survive than a string of 8 or 9s )

Of course, the Hold has variable gravity controls and space to practice ( when the Warband aren't using it as a range for target practice :) ).

Steal the person - eat their shoes.

If we are going to Marduk we may as well be first. For now we are just another raider in a fleet of raiders, but this is the Yarls old ship, perhaps we should see what this serpent and her pilot can do.

I forgot to note in the main post:

Holographic projection is not Oghman Tech, it's a couple of levels higher than the TL of their computers.

It's almost magic, if you're a superstitious sort.

Distracted by the "airlock opening" klaxon? Or the sudden lurch as the open hatch alters the airflow? Perhaps that odd noise like someone running over your head.... Nah, it was the screaming, wasn't it?

Fortunately you have +2 from skill, +1 from high Dexterity. Makes 7.

Ah, but Regina had a good map, and Leon saw the path. Those two successes give you another +2.

Teamwork. ;)
