Adventure Section 1.0
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
I'm good either way other than wanting to put hands on the guy who detached the cargo bay
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Lloyd was hoping someone else would see what would be his next point of argument. “Thank you, Daz. The missing ship’s boat ought to be more than sufficient reason, suspicion of kidnapping or impressment, if it’s not back at the Gambit or en route, we owe it to our pilot to check on his last known position.”
OOC: I’m not sure how many we are anymore... has everyone had their say?

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
OOC: There are 5 players. Dakk hasn't chimed in on the 'pursue the Dark Despair' possibility. In character, Dakk has already expressed interest in talking to his captain (Risha's Gambit). I'd expect that regardless of whether the destroyer chases down the Dark Despair, we'd have communication with Risha's Gambit to get a full understanding of what they know and the status of the lifeboat and its pilot.
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Just a side note, that thing is still floating out here, who knows if it can charge up again and discharge again.

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
The captain looks to Dakk," Sir, my comm officer has relayed your status to the ship and they are waiting to find out if you want to go back with them or we can take you wherever you need to go."
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
I have a question, captain can you scan low frequecy radio bands for a tracking beacon? i cant believe the pirates wouldn't have a plan to try again, if their first shot missed.
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
“That group may not have technical know how to do anything other than arm the device. The designers might have others fabricated, though. How many cargo pods were there on that ship? At least four..”

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
The captain turns to a station behind it, "Ensign, full scan with radar and energy sensors. What is out there?"
Sensor roll [1d100] = 10
The ensign turns back after a few minutes, "Captain, I am picking up a signal, but it is an automatic beacon from a life boat or something similar. Range:280000 kilometers, bearing, 225 degrees aft."
The captain grabs the helmsman,"Turn us around 180 degrees. Give me all she has!" The captain stabs a control on his chair, "Docking officer, prepare to receive a lifeboat or similar vehicle. Get medical down there just in case!"
Your group feels the ship turning hard around. After 10 minutes or so the captain, staring over the sensor operator turns to helm, "Begin braking maneuver! Let's stop this tub and grab that person."
Soon, the visual shows a lifeboat on screen and the destroyer stops next to it and within 20 minutes, has it docked. Soon, the intercom crackles to life, "Captain, Doc here. The pilot is alive and well, but shaken up some. I am taking him to sick bay."
The captain turns to the group, "Well, it seems we got your wayward lifeboat and pilot. Now, unless you have any further objections, I have a ship to dock now."

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
(OK, Guess we aren’t meant to pursue the Dark Despair)
“Let’s find out why he’s banged up, and whether the crew of that freighter might have seen something identifiable on the boat or exterior markings that could be traced back to Garrett’s operations. If he doesn’t have anything for us, we won’t convince the Captain there’s anything to this, despite the circumstances.”
Lloyd is clearly disappointed in that turn, but whatever, the fleet seems more interested in doing nothing than in doing their jobs to inspect the space lanes. “Let’s see what he has to say, then I guess we’ll let the Captain get about his business.”
He walks off a few meters, frustrated by bureaucrats.

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
T'prin asks the captain what the despairs last known heading was, and if it was towards a jump point and if so what destinations they could jump from that point,( if i'm understanding correctly, each jump point leads to a specific system, thus why we had to do a blind jump to get here.)
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
I say that we collect our pilot and life boat and head back towards garretts ship.
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Rick agrees.

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
The captain wasn't opposed to going after the freighter, he was just thinking that your main concern was the lifeboat and pilot. If you want him to go after the freighter, he will oblige you.
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Rick volunteers to be part of any boarding party if the captain is open to civilians being included.
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
(OOC I figured we’d get a pile of excuses from him about probable cause, but if he’s willing , that’s great )Harpoonrgm84a wrote:The captain wasn't opposed to going after the freighter, he was just thinking that your main concern was the lifeboat and pilot. Okay, the captain barks at the helm; "Helm, intercept that freighter!" Then, it turns to the crew, "Battle stations, people! Comm, get in touch with base operations and get me the specs on that freighter, I don't want any surprises here." The captain turns back to your groups, "So, do you have any insights on the ship that you want to share with me that might make this a bit easier on my crew?"

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Meanwhile, the helm turns to the captain," Sir, 45 minutes to intercept the Dark Despair!" The captain nods it's head, "Communications, send a message to the Dark Despair ordering them to stand by for boarding."
The comm officer turns to the console, "Dark Despair, this is the destroyer Solar Wind. Stand down and prepare to be boarded! I repeat, cease accelerating and prepare to receive an away team!"

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Lock and load ladies and gentelmen, lets put a stamp on these goofs and send em to a penal colony somewhere.
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Daz will pull up information on the freighter and its layout to share with the away team.
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Lloyd, somewhat mollified that the Captain is going for it, reloads and rearms. He stops down into the med bay to see their lifeboat pilot. “Hey, you ok?” He asks. “What happened to you after we went in the hold?”
Lloyd will try to get him to relate his experience as well as understand if he has anything New to report about the crew on the freighter, such as numbers he’d seen or heard.
