On the idea of a second group playing in the same campaign world, I'm fine with that as long as, like Vargr said, you make sure you have time to keep our game going at least at the same pace it is now. As far as the second group having the advantage of starting out at 1st level, it kinda sucks but I can see why you'd do it that way on pbp. As long as we're already at 1st, I'm cool with it. I'm a pragmatist most of the time, when I'm not being an idealist... ;)

Besides, if they run across us, we'll kick their a$$e$...

Just ordered a physical copy of DCC, as I only had a pdf before. I've found it too difficult to run a ftf game off a pdf, and going to convert a campaign with my kids that started out 4e (that was a mistake, let me tell you) and that's been using DnD Next (hard to run a campaign with a truly wonky ruleset that keeps changing) to DCC. DCC is a beautiful book and a very fun ruleset once you get used to it!

EDIT:
BTW, thought I'd add that I really don't want Heltel to kill Aengus but I'm going to play it like he's truly lost it. I'm fine with you all doing whatever has to be done. It's DCC! Pull no punches!
Awesome you'll have to tell me how your FtF game goes. I haven't had the opportunity to run a FtF DCC game and currently just work off of a PDF. The more I get into it the more I really love the system but it is definitely a shift from other systems and it can be brutal at times, i'm really glad you have been enjoying yourself.

If the level of a second party was a concern I am willing to start at 0th. I got the impression folks were chomping at the bit to get the hell past 0th level because of the slow pace of a PbP campaign so I didn't want to make a second group suffer if that was the consensus. Maybe in the future i'll have it start at 0th level but actually give EXP rather than just giving first level at the conclusion of the module. Sailors on the Starless Sea is rather huge for a 0th level module which has kept you guys at 0th for a long time.

In the mean time I think I am going to, with the help of many of the guys on the DCC forums grow the features I think that will help this game out and fill out some additions I want to add to the campaign. Don't sweat another group being added that's probably not happening any time soon I just wanted to get some general feelers out there. To let you know here are some things I want to start putting in the works and you may see posts from me about:

1.) Additions to the spellburn tables. Currently they are rather small and there's a few posters on the forums with some really cool charts they've churned up to add to what is already there. I will likely have a much larger spellburn table with all kinds of goodies in it.

2.) I want to gather a list of several deities/patrons some from released books and others public creations I like. DCC is so open i'm not worried about some specific pantheon but as you reach class levels the deities become much more important especially for the clerical and wizardly inclined characters. Also PLEASE if there is an idea of a god/deity etc.. that you are really pushing for with a character or you would like to see in existence let me know. I'd be happy to throw together something and it can be added to my list of existing patron's deities.

To show you all an example here is a DCC Writeup I did of Demogorgon when I was considering just using Forgotten Realms as a setting. He will likely exist in this campaign and I don't give a rip what his background/connections are in FR in DCC he's mine to mold as I wish :) hehe: http://www.goodman-games.com/forums/vie ... demogorgon

3.) Additional Spells for both clerics/wizards

4.) Additional Classes including new races as classes. (Once these are implemented and I open them up i'll likely just add them to the occupations chart roll for more additional variety upon character creation)

I love the character images by the way I love putting an image and sort of lining it up with what I pictured the character as.

Some nice resources there. I'm really looking forward to coming up with DCC versions of things like changelings, witches, dwarven clerics, etc. I really like race as class systems. Also looking forward to DCC's much simpler bookkeeping as far as XP goes.

RE: leveling up to 1st level, in hindsight yes, it would have made sense to level us up after we finished off the beastmen in town. But a lot of us still had 2-3 characters, so it also made sense to stick with the funnel a bit longer...

Well i should have just handed out exp and let you pick one to level up then turned the rest into henchmen that require morale checks etc... hindsights 20/20 though I think its still been fun.

You can't make this up, folks. Sorry, there NJ...
That made me lol.

Really brutal I thought Bronn had saved the day calling upon Klazath and would be a great step into his following of the lawful god of war. Now something tells me this is a lot messier a following for him lol.

By the way I assume everyone had plans for the 4th I know I did so i'll give an extra day if I don't hear from folks since I know it's the holiday. Sorry I forgot to post this earlier. That being said I should be able to post just about every day moving forward, at least that's my goal so post away and we'll keep this popping rolling along. If any of you survive to see the end of it.

Oh also when we were talking about leveling up I forgot to mention part of the reason I haven't doled it out is I didn't want players to just auto turn into their classes so even if you guys hit first level that character would likely have to go off and train and spend some time before becoming that 1st level character. That seems much more realistic and much more gygaxian/appendix N where 90% of adventurers time is spent at the bar or at their day jobs etc...

I'm a little worried though about this adventure, since some players dropped off I am thinking of leveling you guys up.

Is it just me, or do the adventurers on the module art look waaaaay cooler and more well-equipped than our rag-tag bunch of scoundrels? :)

To be honest with you they look cool but really other than a few hauberks which you guys do have here and there they don't have much more then you their regular clothing just looks cool.

Don't forget to take things from your dead though. I think im going to start posting dead character loot as treasure just for easy tracking.

Okay I posted Aengus's gear in the treasure thread. Feel free to rp out how you handle that with dead characters it doesn't matter to me. I just wanted to make sure everyone had access to it easily.

Lastly I don't know where I got in my head I wanted to wait on leveling because that's not what I wrote down when I wrote up the basic rules in this campaign lol man im scatterbrained sometimes. Okay on that note after your current situation is resolved I want everyone who survives to level up to 1st. This will also kick into effect the following rule:

"Dead characters are replaced at 1 level below the lowest other surviving character, to a minimum of 0. If you are required to make 0-lvl characters as a result, you make 4. Hopefully one will survive to 1st level."

This means EXP will also start to kick in.

Also wizards and elves will not automatically get spells. It takes about 1 week per spell level of research to learn, study, and record spells. I am following the book on leveling rules so all spells/mercurial magic etc... must be rolled for. You are welcome to begin this process now if you wish. As always I am open for any questions you may have.

Also the rules for bleeding out and recovering the body will apply for all 1st level + characters. 0th levels will continue to be dead as soon as they hit 0.

"Bleeding out: There is a chance of saving a dead character
by healing him very quickly (such as with a cleric’s ability
to lay on hands). A 0-level character that reaches 0 hit
points is irrevocably killed, but a 1st-level character that
reaches 0 hit points collapses and begins bleeding out. Such
a character has 1 round in which he can be healed to prevent
his death. If he is healed on the round he’s reduced to
0 hit points or the next round, he is healed per the result
of the lay on hands check (treat his hit points as starting at
0). If he is not healed before the second round, he may be
permanently killed (see below).
For each level past the first, a character has one more round
of bleeding before he is permanently killed. For example,
a 3rd-level character can be saved if he is healed within 3
rounds.
A character that was bleeding out but was saved suffers
permanent physical trauma from his near-fatal injuries.
Anyone who is saved from bleeding out suffers a permanent
loss of 1 point of Stamina. In addition, he gains a terrible
scar from the wound that downed him.
"

"Recovering the body: If the body of a dead ally can be recovered,
there is a chance the ally may not be truly killed. He
may have been knocked unconscious or simply stunned. If
a character reaches a dead ally’s body within one hour, the
dead character may make a Luck check when his body is
rolled over. On a successful check, the dead character was
badly injured but is not permanently killed, and the ally is
able to keep him alive. The “dead” character was simply
knocked out, stunned, or otherwise incapacitated. Once an
ally shakes the downed character awake, he recovers to 1
hit point. The character is groggy for the next hour (-4 penalty
to all rolls) and sustains a permanent injury of some
kind, reflected as a permanent -1 penalty to Strength, Agility,
or Stamina (determine randomly).
"

Think I'll wait to work on leveling up until this business with Heltel gets resolved. I'm afraid he'll kill Rolfo next. Lock up your women and children, Heltel is on the loose!

Ok I confirmed it the now grappled and pinned Heltel can do nothing but attempt to break the grapple with the same opposed 1d20+ Agi or Str check vs whoever else is holding him. Also melee attacks into a grapple by anyone will be treated with a 50% chance to hit your friend just like ranged attacks into melee.

He might not be down depending on what Uriel is doing exactly.

FYI I updated the character creation thread to include the extra occupations from the alternate occupations book I recently acquired. Now any newcomer will have 200 occupations to roll against instead of 100 as it was previously.

I also added a thread for Deities/Patrons, keep a look out as more gets added to that over time specifically new deities/patrons and additional details about each.

I'm also going to be adding all applicable classes including 3rd party options that I will accept within the character creation thread so please keep a lookout for that coming soon.

Am I correct in assuming the new book acquired is this one? - http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/1 ... _44544_0_0

And how the heck do you roll a 1d200 in real life anyway?

I already wrote what Uriel was doing. He is staying out of the conflict. Least till he levels

Yep that is the book and well I have no clue how you roll 1d200 in real life but luckily for me I don't have that problem ;)

Okay i'll retcon/update accordingly. I'm also awaiting an action for Kunno which if I don't have one by tonight i'll press on past him. I think I got confused on your comment that your staying out of it unless etc...
