Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Sig calls for VdP to climb back outside and join him on the upper deck. Once he and Rene are there, he points out the skeleton and the note.
'Despair, for your hope fades as certainly as your home sinks beneath the horizon'.
"What do you make of this fella's? It seems that this poor chap didn't meet a very good end?"
With his "anchor" now secured, the mage floats upwards again, checking for anything that might have been missed up in the rear rigging.

Something seems to have caught the eye of young Alderhay as he starts to climb up over the skeletal body in a bid to reach the ropes and cut it down.

Pocc decides it's time to leave the room and heads out the window if he can.

Stubble collects his precious loot (the sextant), helps anyone else needed, and then exits though the window.
Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Before Iggway leaves the room, she’ll scrape some of the ooze into a vial to study, then she’ll exit through the window and rejoin the rest of the group on deck.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Alderhay climbs the mast and enters the crows nest, focusing on the skeketal figure hanging from the topsail. His 'detect magic' showing an aura of enchantment emanating from the skulls' visage. He decides to edge out along the spar to within touching distance and use his dagger to cut the noose. Striking like a coiled serpent, the severed hand hiding up the trenchcoat sleeve leaps out to slash a razor sharp claw across his leg trying to hamstring his progress (-1 hp). Deftly Al throws his knife and pins the undead hand to the mast. He cuts the skeleton free which drops quickly to splatter below, breaking bones and spilling the remnants of guts across the deck. A gold tooth rolls free from the jawbone, it is etched with an arcane rune.
Rexlin and Fishy leave their rigging guardpost and join the party gathering on the stern deck. Siggard checks out the short broken aftmast. Apart from the skeleton there is nothing to see, Face the monkey liberates a tribal designed necklace from the victim and ties it around his own neck, playing with the tusk beads and minor gemstones. The severed hand in the cage waves to the severed hand on the helm wheel which retorts with a finger sign and crawls away to hide.
Rene and Van de Poel assist the others leaving the cabin one-by-one through the windows. The globe and stand is taken also. Stubble, Goldie and Pocc exit first.
Zoggrot counsels burning the ochre jelly but no one has any lit touch or lantern oil. Folk decide to steer clear of it as it seems non-malevolent. Iggways' curiosity gets the better of her however. Stooping to gather some ooze she carelessly puts herself in harms way. Luckily for her, Old Plighty's leg gets in the way as sensing her danger he steps forward from the door to warn her. The step-clump step-clump is enough to distract the ochre jelly's attention from the native shamen and it strikes with a sticky pseudopod to latch onto the grizzled pirate. It flows across the floor to smother OP's leg. Unfortunately for him, it starts to leech his good left leg not his wooden right (-6hp).
Hearing his cry of pain, Zoggrot, Fenis and Geoff halt exiting the room and may assist as they are the last trio. Sword drawn, Geoffrey hacks at the viscous sludge.
Ferrol drops the morningstar, his hand blistered by the shock received from it. He perceives that the weapon has some clerical augmentation to counter 'wizard infidels' and should be okay for a non-mage to use. He is almost leaving the hallway when the commotion begins.
(Okay, next actions please. Update Wednesday if sober .....see ooc thread for explanation).

Hearing Iggway's shout, Zoggrot turns back toward the ochre jelly, takes careful aim with his stubby pistol, and blasts away.
Pistol (THAC0 20): [1d20+2] = 15+2 = 17 [2d4] = 8 (Stubby point-blank/short range dmg+: [1d4] = 3) 11 damage total

Fenis
Fenis will work around behind Old Plighty and grab him and drag him free of the jelly.
When that fails he tries slashing the jelly away with his cutlass.
Cutlass [1d20] = 12 to hit [1d6] = 3 damage

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Hearing the commotion below, Stubble scrambled up faster and went to the sound of trouble. Old Plighty seemed in a world of hurt and one of the old crew seemed to think fire would work better than a blade. How do you chop slush, anyway?
"Fire we can do. Make some room, I'll be right back." Stubble said. He went back to the cannon to retrieve some matches and then under the stairs to grab a couple bags of powder. "Clear the way!"
As best he could the one bag of powder gave him a trail and the second a pile on the sludgy thing. He struck a match, lit the powder trail, and ducked back around the corner.

Pocc if able to will help get Old Plighty away from the ooze if not then he will see who else he can help aid.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Alderhay clambers down to the deck and examines the splattered corpse. He picks up the gold tooth and takes a look at the trenchcoat to see if it could be recovered from it's rather gory condition. He also checks the body for any other treasure.
Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Alderhay puts on the trenchcoat. Seeming pleased with the result, he heads over to the ships bell which he lifts off it's mount and examines closely.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Siggard and VdP spend a little time trying to get the fancy globe from the room out of the window and lowered down into the canoe of the newcomer halfling. "Truss mi bredda, disa ting be wort da trouble, mon. Ya wont haffi be sleepin in no mo aunted ship once we sell dis."
With one man pulling on the rope from the deck and the other floating around trying to rig the large globe and stand into the small boat, the entire affair looks a bit like a dog and pony marionette show. Once the globe and his caged hand are secured in the tiny boat, the mage floats up one final time before his spell wanes. He takes a final birds-eye view of the ship below, hoping that he can spot anything the team might have missed from above.
Once back on the deck with the others again, he smiles at the antics of his monkey and makes a suggestion to the group.
"The cargo hold below still needs to be searched, but we found glyphs that will require the skill of our priestess, I think. Do we want to get our spoils secured on shore before we try to tackle anything below decks? I sense that it will be a dangerous endeavor, but I will let Iggway decide that for herself."

Rene gladly assists Siggard, although he's unsure how a ball on a stand is going to be worth anything. Still anyone who can fly must know what they're talking about. He'll wait in his boat for further direction.
Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Rexlin Do you think we can just bust up the glyphs? Or maybe axe our way around the door through the wall instead of going through the trapped door?Siggard and VdP wrote: "The cargo hold below still needs to be searched, but we found glyphs that will require the skill of our priestess, I think. Siggard stops what he is doing at the sound of Rex’s suggestion. Normally paying little attention to such brutish ideas, the learned mage thinks this one might actually work.
”That is a possibility I hadn’t thought of, Rexlin. And something like that just....might....work! Now.......where do you think is the best place to make a hole through this top deck?”
