Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
Going forward I am going to be changing the way I up Brownie Points. I think it makes little sense for the total pool to keep going up like I have been doing it, and though the pools should go up when earned, I think I am going to only increase the total pool when the current number goes higher. For example: if you have 15/20 and are rewarded +6, you will be 100% recovered and your new total pool would be 21. I only do this because the pools are growing much more quickly than I was prepared for, and I don't want to start making everything unreasonable hard just to coax you into using them. I am not penalizing anyone with enforcing this now, but going forward I wanted you to know the adjustment I was making to the mechanics of the day. I will say that if you want to spend 50 Bps out of your base number, I will let you purchase another specialty or dice in a particular pool. I had touched on this earlier, and never got back to you on that. I think 50 sounds like a good number for this.
This also brings me to the problem of Urson's character since he is just starting out and will be subject to this rule change. I am open to suggestions but most importantly Urson's own opinion. I think one option is to let him have a mission or 2 scored the old way. though this could get complicated. Another option is to just give him a bump award of Bps to even out the playing field, but somehow I feel like that is also unfair to both him and the veteran players here. If he would like, we can just play it off as him being the rookie or whatever and he would simply advance a little slower than the rest of you have. Please, everyone, give me your thoughts on these options and if you have any ideas, let me know.
Thank for being awesome players!

Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
Thanks for the reminder about spending BP for specialities!
The BP number are getting pretty high, but I think it'd be a good idea for us to spend on some character upgrades. Salsa dancing hasn't been nearly as central to this campaign as I had assumed, and I really ought to drop 50 on skills that will actually come in handy capturing a ghost.
What are the skills that we, as a company, need?
Pretty much everyone has something research related, and most of us have brawling skills (We're a surprisingly skilled bunch, should it ever come to a bare-knuckled dust-up). We've been doing pretty well on the social skills front, too.
Jason, Mac, and Roy are all skilled in firing off proton packs. Do we need more to make sure we keep the more challenging spirits on the ropes?
Thank goodness Joker has Throwing Things and Electronics. It was pretty bad that we didn't have either of those covered. We might want a bit more on that front, too. If I might be so bold, I'd suggest Roy take a Brains Skill like Tech Support, or Engineering, since that is how the character is being played, and it would help give Joker some back up. I think Etta should take Throwing Things, so she can help Joker toss out the Traps.
What do you folks think?

Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
Yeah that sounds like a plan, jason is going to be in recovery for a while, maybe honing some sort of mental skill until hes on his feet. Its not a bad to time tlook at budgets too, we prob need to have an all hands meeting for that. I would just, being a giant fanboy, like to have a blower at least on premisis. I feel like there are chances it could come up, maybe look into how we want to grow as a franchise.

Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
Okay, please officially put me down for spending 50 BP on Throwing Things. Turns out, Etta played competitive softball in her youth, and worked with the Rhodes softball team during her time as an academic librarian (Go Lady Lynxes!). So, she's good with the underhand.
Would you prefer I mark this speciality down as "Throwing Things" or "Softball?"

I love it! Pitcher maybe? But either will work.Pulpatoon wrote:Okay, please officially put me down for spending 50 BP on Throwing Things. Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
As far as the BP issue: I personally have no problem with being the rookie, and advancing more slowly.

Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
Double checking the Brownie Point totals as requested, I think there were a few errors in the maximums.
Jason should be at 72
Mac should be at 78
Lionel used his Christmas die trying to spot the ghost on the videotape.

Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
I love James Rollins! Although, I admit to not liking his newest as much as previous efforts. I think the AI aspect of it was a bit hard to wrap my head around. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book. Have you read anything by Matthew Reilly? I think that if you like Rollins, you'd probably like Reilly as well. Kind of a modern day Indiana Jones.Urson wrote:handful of James Rollins' Sigma Force novels.

I'm going to add my own little bit to Roy a Douglas Adams book in his pocket

Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
Thank you! Thinks should be easier for me to keep records going forward now that I am off for the summer. I have been trying to type out some of these post there since I had a real keyboard but then had to copy it to my phone to post. It's all a long story, but trying to track Bps from three separate locations was... difficult. I will be making adjustments now and just realized I also missed a GM Note I needed to keep track of from Mac's Ghost Die roll back at the mounds.Scott308 wrote:Double checking the Brownie Point totals as requested, I think there were a few errors in the maximums.

Re: Off Duty 2 (OOC)
Scott: I definitely agree with you about Rollins. I think "Map of Bones" is probably the best. His locations are always awesome, but in some of his more recent stuff, he seems to be struggling to find a good story.
