Group 1: OOC I
Re: Group 1: OOC I
Sorry, guys. You all got your actions in fast (which is awesome), but I totally crashed last night around 8:30pm (which is super early for me).
I'll get you guys moving again today. Hopefully over lunch so you aren't stuck waiting until later tonight.

Re: Group 1: OOC I
Stuck in Denver. Can’t get a flight out so our group is renting a van to drive to Kansas City airport (600 miles
) to get a flight home tomorrow. Maybe.

Re: Group 1: OOC I
Good luck!

Re: Group 1: OOC I
Just a head's up that I am taking the rest of the week off from work, which will throw off my normal routine.
I'm hoping to be able to keep up, but expect for my appearances online to be a bit sporadic.

Re: Group 1: OOC I
If Bren is the only one without darkvision, should he go in the middle or the back with a torch to let those that can see do their darkvision thing?
Re: Group 1: OOC I
I think the dwarves and barbarians first, followed by whoever. I would wouldn't put the dragonborn last, but close to the back seems good. I would prefer someone with dark vision at the rear just in case.
Re: Group 1: OOC I
I guess we should ask ourselves if we need stealth (and darkness) for this, or if clear vision is more important.
Oskar has the best perception, so he should probably be in front to see whatever is down there. He's not really a "front line" fighter, though he can last a little while.
How about:
Oskar
Quaalxor
Rumble
Strega
Bren
Tannaris

Re: Group 1: OOC I
As long as the dwarves duck so Rumble can jump over them when needed, this works for me.
I vote for keeping it dark and quiet if possible.

Re: Group 1: OOC I
I'm relatively new to the tactics here, but in a 5 foot corridor, we can put one person in front, and basically rotate who that is, from round to round with the disengage action, when they get hurt, right?
Can Oskar jump forward, attack, and retreat, or does the front line need to be empty for that to work? (and therefore might apply occasionally if we set up a regular rotation, but not generally?) In other words, can someone in back move into the front line, in the same square as someone else, attack, then retreat back to their own space, or not?

Re: Group 1: OOC I
Not sure rules wise how it works but agree with the idea if we can make it work.

Yes, kind of... maybe?drpete wrote:I'm relatively new to the tactics here, but in a 5 foot corridor, we can put one person in front, and basically rotate who that is, from round to round with the disengage action, when they get hurt, right?
Here are the rules on Moving Around Other Creatures:
"You can move through a nonhostile creature's space. In contrast, you can move through a hostile creature's space only if the creature is at least two sizes larger or smaller than you. Remember that another creature's space is difficult terrain for you.
Whether a creature is a friend or an enemy, you can't willingly end your move in its space.
If you leave a hostile creature's reach during your move, you provoke an opportunity attack, as explained later in the chapter."
Any character, on any turn, can take the Disengage action, but know that this will be their action on their turn (e.g. they can not also take an Attack action, or Cast a Spell that has an action casting time).
Initiative order may also matter, especially when this is considered: "Whether a creature is a friend or an enemy, you can't willingly end your move in its space." If an injured character up front acts first and wants to fall back, but there's no available space behind them, they can Ready their action and use someone moving behind them as their trigger.
This was kind of addressed above.drpete wrote:Can Oskar jump forward, attack, and retreat, or does the front line need to be empty for that to work? "Can Oskar jump forward, attack, and retreat..."
Maybe?
The "jump forward" part would be his move;
The "attack" would be his action;
The "retreat" would only be possible if the "jump forward" move from above was a partial move, and he has movement left.
- Note: This would not be an official Disengage, so when he did move back, he would provoke an Opportunity Attack if he leaves the reach of any hostile creature.
I'll also include this link here since it is at least tangentially related: Activity While Traveling.

I don't want to assume anything. Is this what you're going with?drpete wrote:How about:

Tannaris
Also, if using light, I'll need to know the source, and who's carrying it.

Re: Group 1: OOC I
The order looks good to me.
Re: Group 1: OOC I
I'm good with the marching order as well

Re: Group 1: OOC I
Bren will use a torch I suppose to see but keep a bit back in the pack to allow the leaders up front to see.
