Chapter One - A grim fate
Re: Chapter One - A grim fate
Confused, and with injuries still aching, Marsha rises from the puddle and steps in the direction motioned by the skeleton. She'd like to make a little more sense of the confusion before joining the fray...!
Re: Chapter One - A grim fate
Dagger attack (STR 9): [1d20] = 19; damage: [1d6] = 3
Dagger attack (STR 9): [1d20] = 19; damage: [1d6] = 2
Aldus the Tailor is thoroughly shaken and creeped out by all the skeletons, and keeps shying away from delivering a solid blow.

Re: Chapter One - A grim fate
Your head clears, Marsha, as you shuffle through the near-black space between the light of Fletch's torch and the circle of torchlight at the far end of the chamber.
As you approach, you can make out three somewhat-dishevelled figures struggling with something emerging from a half-open stone door, set into the long wall of the chamber.
Despite several fraught but powerfully-aimed blows from Siegfried and Aden (and some less powerful blows from the tailor), the skeleton clears the doorway, unharmed.
Heretical though it may be, you need to roll under to hit in The Black Hack, not equal to or under.
As a second animated skeleton forces its way though the doorway, the first jabs at you with its short spear.
Aden, Aldus or Siegfried? [1d3] = 1
Skellington's short spear: [1d4] = 4
Can I get a STR check from Aden to avoid the pointy, pointy jab, jab?

Ah! So we do! Terrible how ingrained things become. Post edited accordingly.cmrsalmon wrote:Heretical though it may be, you need to roll under to hit in The Black Hack, not equal to or under.
Re: Chapter One - A grim fate
Seeing the second skeleton, Marsha tests her favor with Yiol once again...
Banish (vs. WIS 10, add skeleton HD) [1d20] = 13
Having failed her companions, Marsha begins to wonder if she has also failed her god...

Re: Chapter One - A grim fate
While waving his shears vaguely in the direction of the skeletons, Aldus turns his head and notices the woman suddenly in their midst. "OH! How do you do, Miss... I mean... Sister? Ma'am? Reverend?
"We, ah, seem to have upset the local color. We can make proper introductions in a minute." He turns and, wanting to impress the newcomer, puts a little more weight behind his jab.
Dagger attack (STR 9): [1d20] = 6; damage: [1d6] = 3

Strength Check [Fail] STR 8 [1d20] = 11
The skeleton plunges his spear into Aden's chest, twists, and yanks it out. Aden peers into empty eye sockets as his life drains rapidly away, his sword clattering to the ground.

Aldus cries out, "Aden!"
He runs to his fallen comrade's side and leans in to catch any last words.

Sorry to see that happen though! Time to roll up another character!
Re: Chapter One - A grim fate
Marsha nods at the tailor. "Yes, introductions..."
Her words are interrupted by the tailor's exclamation and dash to his fallen comrade. She looks on with concern.
Perhaps introductions can't wait after all.

His eyes hazy and looking at nothing in particular, Aden says, I buried my inheritance in...in...in..............................{gasp}.

Aldus urgently clutches Aden closer. "Yes? Yes? Don't die, yet! You were saying?!"

Siegfried loses his temper and goes after the skeleton which speared his comrade.
(STR:15) [1d20] = 16
Anger never was a good fencing partner, and Siegfried's swing goes wide once more.
