I'll be on and off through the weekend, so please feel free to NPC Moogeye's bloodied and unconscious body if you have to move things along.

I'm on a two week work trip. Will be checking in and posting, but just in case I hold things up... feel free to NPC Telkis. Should be able to post normally, though.

Hi! I'll be away from home on Friday and the weekend. I'll try to get online, but I'm not sure I'll be able to post. Back on Monday!

Does the blanking out of potions of the map we can't see at the moment mean we shouldn't piece them together to make an overall map?

Correct.
No one's mapping so I'm just showing what the PCs can see for this round.

OTOH, the tunnels aren't so maze-like that we wouldn't have any idea which way's which, are they? Especially with a gnome leading the way?

Correct. You're not lost.

Telkis knows you were travelling south when you came to this intersection, and that the way back to the burning inn is toward the northeast.

All of you could remember how to retrace your steps. All of you know the northwestern-most tunnel leads back to the chamber that held Bertram Beswill.

AleBelly (and everyone with Pelias):

To overclarify, my use of the term 'great, powerful evil' refers directly to this house rule:
Inferno wrote: -Detect Evil: This will be modified to only detect powerful, unnatural evil: undead, great monsters, devils, demons and other enchanted or conjured creatures listed under the spell, "Protection From Evil."
That is, evil powerful enough to be detected by Pelias.
Thanks.

If nobody is exploring in that direction, Ingrid tries to glance into that corridor.
Bo had been there earlier when he was separated from the other adventurers, and just recently recognized it:
Inferno wrote: Long Bo holds his lantern to peer down the long, dark, easternmost branch. The druid recognizes the muddy tunnel. He had been there before:
        • DM wrote:Long Bo creeps further south, isolated from everyone else. The druid peers into an eastern shaft and is immediately assaulted by the stench and sight of grisly death!

The path opens into a den, littered with bones (23). Human bones. They've been picked clean of all their meat; cracked open and the marrow sucked out.

In the corner, near a rib cage, is a decapitated human head. By his lantern light, Bo recognizes the face. It's Snigrot, the dirty, rat-faced cook of the Golden Grain Inn. Bo last saw him dead, at Pelias' hand, one entire leg hewn clean off by the paladin's righteous sword.
Now, his severed head has been picked clean of flesh.

          Image

But the eyeballs, still staring sightlessly in their sockets, have been spared, perhaps for a special occasion. Or a special guest.

Long Bo flees the den of horrors.

So, if one of us states that we are trying to map the tunnels, would it then be possible to see the entire map of the areas that we have already explored?

I am guessing that there is a reason that you don't want to show it in its entirety but, I think it would simplify the search for the blast of cold air that we detected earlier and then hopefully, the exit?

Yes. Long Bo might be good for that. He's seen more tunnels than the others.

Yes!!

Just a small note: what Ingrid cast, wasn't really a "holy spell". The way I envision her arcane repertoire, it's 75% prayers and rituals taught at the Monastery, and 25% practical/folk magic she picked up during her travels with Khorst Maltess and Henri Kolde, the vampire hunters. Game-wise, of course, I'm simply using the regular priest spell list! But with a Hammer Horror flavor I find rather fitting for our rural (almost "historical") fantasy setting ;)

Absolutely excellent job Ingrid! I thought we were doomed for sure in our current sad condition.
I agree. That spell is like Hold Person for snakes, except there's a hit point requirement, and no saving throw. I think that dmw71's house rule on magic is working as planned, to increase the variety of cast spells. :)
