Eddie definitely wants to join the raid on Club Zothique - not that he knows how he could contribute, but he wouldn't be much of a newsman if he passed up an opportunity to get an inside scoop on a thing like this
Personally, he feels chasing down the Freak Show and stopping the harassments of Marius the hunter is a more pressing issue, and though he realizes the others do not share his priorities, he tries to communicate his urgency to the others in their talks.
As for Baines knowing about the Freak Show connection: consider him informed after the gathering at the book shop, if not sooner.

Grognard, I'm leaving tomorrow on a work trip and will be back Monday night.
If I'm slow to respond this week, please NPC Archer if you need to keep things moving along. Thanks.
Best,
Inferno

Hey guys, As I mentioned in my introductory post, I'm a writer. The most recent piece I've finished actually fits into this game. I started the story back in June 2014. It took two months to get the bulk of it done, but it just didn't feel done. I let it sit, then went back and added some scenes and expanded others. It now feels done. I asked our Lorekeeper if he would like to read it (you'll see why in the story), he said yes, and I sent it to him. He wrote back yesterday that the rest of the group would probably enjoy the story also.
This is story of Harold Matthers' great-grandson, also named Harold. This is actually the very first place I used a character with that name. After reading it, Grognardsw said that it felt like this Harold in Fun and Games was the grandson of the Harold from That Which Should Not Be. I've decided that great-grandson fits the timeline better, but the connection came from Grognardsw.
And also because of that suggestion, ideas have started rolling on the sequel with the senior Harold telling the younger about an experience of his many decades ago...
So, please, read if you wish, and I hope you enjoy it.

Everyone,
I'm sorry for not keeping up in the current posting tempo. I am experiencing a higher-than-normal pressure from work as well as my offline life at the moment and it will take some time to get back on track with the story - probably at least another week.
Grognard, feel free to NPC Eddie or to let his storyline sink into the background. I'll be happy to pick up the thread at my earliest opportunity.

Sure. Given the impending raid and Dark Pharaoh Freak Show, I suppose I'll NPC him.

For his partial readings thus far in the Pnakotic Manuscripts, Reginald gains 3 Cthulhu Mythos skill points.
The content from the Carcosa letters to Lovecraft, posted 5/2, came from Alan Moore.

- Shining Trapezohedron
- Contact Elder Thing
- Instructions for inscribing an Elder Sign
From

- Contact Servant of Selene, by which an unidentified "servant" of the goddess may be contacted.

COOL!!
Looking forward to destroying what remains of Reginald's sanity by contacting Elder Things!!!

Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear it. The sequels are underway (yes, plural. Paula has a story (25% done) where she goes into the pawn shop and then the sequel with the senior Harold telling them about some loose ends that can only be tied up in Arkham).
Harold Matthers
Harold's player sees his old friend's ever decreasing sanity and wishes that he had invested in the psychoanalysis skill that Reg might regain some SAN.

SocraticLawyer wrote:Couple quick questions about the spells. Are the spells simple enough that one could attempt them without having the book on hand? Or are they so intricate that you would need the book with you to use them? If the latter, could repeated use allow one to cast the spell without the book? If so, I imagine Carcosa has access to all of these spells and more....
Does the book indicate what the named spells do? E.g., what does inscribing an Elder Sign do? Where do the Gates go?
The rituals are complex and require the book on hand. I suppose with enough repetition one could cast them, but that seems far off to Reginald. Yes, though I didn't go into it in that particular post, the book details what the named spells do, though the language, meaning or interpretation may not be clear. The Gates seem to involve transportation to locations determined by the caster using provided incriptions, cadences and utterances. What these actually mean is not 100% certain. Some of the text is in the unknown language that Timothy Carver used. One can pronounce it (hopefully correctly) even if one doesn't know the meaning.
I guess we'll play out Spell research/casting in IC to explore more.

I'm on the fourth episode of HBOs True Detective, a show that has the vibe of this campaign (in my head at least.) It's a well-acted, dark, slow-moving unfolding of psychological depravity tinged with occultism. And there's a Carcosa!
