Tev Meren, Fighter

Tev had readied sword and shield, but wasn't otherwise accoutered for action. He stared at the giant bear for a moment, thought of their horses and the other men still sleeping, and found himself walking toward the bear, banging his sword on his shield and yelling loudly to let the creature know that it had a formidable foe to face off against.

It wasn't really anything he'd planned to do, but since he was doing it he committed fully to it. He might be smaller than the behemoth bear, but he was going to let it know he had just as much vinegar and salt in him as anything it could muster. Hopefully it would be startled and scoot on out of there. If not, if he lived, he'd have a good tale to tell and one hell of a rug.

Sir Rhys the Archer

If the noise-making ruse doesn't work, Rhys fires arrows at the bear until it is within melee range.

Thurgan, Dwarf

Thurgan readies and fires his crossbow at the bear, then will attack with his sword once it reaches melee range.

Tev bravely steps forward, sword and shield clashing. The bear is obviously startled, and after a moment's hesitation turns and flees. No more of the bear is seen that night.

Severi the Silvertongued, Elf

Severi curses the weather most colorfully, and then proposes that the party carry on immediately to the underground dwelling of the ur-orcs. He asks Tev to give Bruno a few of the flasks of flaming oil, so that he can operate as a backup arsonist if the other adventurers are engaged.

"I think we must make a point of igniting every one of these vile pillars that we see."

Tev Meren

Tev carries three oil flasks on his person, but has another seven in his saddlebags, and is happy to give Bruno four or more of them.

Quint Kacie
As morning dawns, Quint rises and readies for the trek into the city. He thanks Tev, Rhys and Thurgan for their efforts during the night. "I do appreciate you thinking to let me sleep, despite the racket you ended up making. Still, it served it's purpose. I wasn't very coherent, nor eloquent, last night, so thank you again friends."

Severi tells Bruno to take a trio of oil flasks, and advises that Quint, perhaps, take a few of them as well.

"Best have bottles of spirits ready too in case we meet those beetles again".

Rhys nods in agreement and grabs three of the wine skins he brought along and slings them over a shoulder before they head off to building 8.

Quint Kacie
Quint rechecks the supplies in his pack and seeing only two oil flasks, concedes Severi's point and adds the additional four he had packed away in his saddlebags. "I think we'll have enough to light the whole place on fire now!" When Thurgan reminds the group about the alcohol, the mage replies, "Damn, I completely forgot about that! We had planned to stock up in case we ran into more of those beetles, and I never did in the excitement after the siege."

Rhys replies to Quint, "I grabbed six wine bags of the strongest alcohol I could get. There are three more on my horse still, if you want them."

Quint nods in thanks to Rhys for his offer. "Yes, I'd best take them. We should carry all we can, just in case."

8:00 am

The adventurers make the short trek from camp to the ruined bathhouse. The great stone door remains shut, and there is no sign of traffic in or out of the door.

Sir Rhys the Traveling Knight

Rhys approaches the door and listens at it. If he hears nothing, he opens the door and enters.

Rhys listens at the door but hears nothing. A quick examination reveals it is not locked, and so the adventurers push it open to find the hallway much as it was left, though more dusty than previously, as they had destroyed the cleaning construct inhabiting the halls.

The door under the stairs is unlocked, and the adventurers venture below. The sub-basement, too, is much the same as before; if anything, it is even more humid here. The stone walls and ceiling are slick with moisture.
Here is the original description of the room:
The stairs are not trapped, and Rhys descends to find himself in a cavernous room. The floors and walls are slick with mold and moisture, the air close with heat and humidity. The room is much larger than could be illuminated with a single torch. It takes some time to explore the room. A bubbling pool of water occupies the center of the room, perhaps twenty feet in diameter. Squatting in the pool, like some fat, obscene deity is a rusted metal contraption, squat and barrel shaped, with a multitude of pipes protruding from it, spreading out in all directions. The pipes form a crazed lattice, typically tight to the ceiling but occasionally veering towards the ground.

Here and there badly rusted implements can be found on the ground; these are likely obscure tools that at some point were used to maintain the network of pipes.

In the far corner of the room a section of wall has collapsed, revealing a dark tunnel leading off into the distance.

Given the wide room, the adventurers form into a double rank and begin advancing across, towards the tunnel. Suddenly, what only seconds ago appeared to be damp rocks begin to quiver and sprout grey, muciliganic pseudopods that lash about, targeting Rhys and Severi!
Neither side is surprised, but they are attacking Severi and Rhys. The oozes are spaced about five feet apart, clustered around the edge of the pool. Note that they have extremely low movement, so a viable action would be "back the hell up" provided the PC wins initiative. The entry does not give a range for their pseudopod, so I'm going to say it is approximately 20'.

Quint Kacie
As Rhys and Severi come under attack, Quint begins to fall back, making room for those before him to retreat from the reaching pseudopods. As he does so, he fumbles for a flask of oil, recalling how the pillars down below burned so effectively. He wracks his brain, trying to dredge up any facts he can recall about the ooze-like creatures that might give some clue to a weakness they can exploit to defeat them.
Can Quint make a knowledge check to see if he'd know they are immune to fire? (if there are actually Grey Oozes)
I don't want to go all Meta and just use that OOC knowledge in-game.
