Ahead of them, down the hallway not yet travelled, is a closed door.

The Elf approaches the door, taking time to search it for traps, and listen to noises from behind it.

The sharp-eared elf hears something behind the door! Sounds like whispering in a language he does not know.

Faron sniffs the door and growls to Ellith:

I smell more kobolds.

"More kobolds behind this door" - Ellith informs the others - "Does anyone speak their language? Perhaps we could parley and get some information"

"I speak the Kobold tongue," Vali whispers in a growl. "But I'd rather see those dog-faced cretins dead with a dagger protruding from their throats instead."

Myrrh draws his sword and gets ready next to the door, nodding to Vali once he is ready.

"Hmmm" - Ellith sems a bit dismayed at his companion's bloodlust - "Information can make the difference between life and death" - he points out - "Could you at least ask them to surrender? And try to avoid a fight which can be deadly for both sides?"

"I don't speak their tongue and the last group we encountered attacked us without any warning. Only a fool is not prepared when facing someone who has proven openly hostile. I have no issue with attempting to negotiate but we should be prepared for it to fail based on what we have seen so far and Vali is the only one who speaks their tongue and Kobolods and Gnomes don't like each other."

Vali gives Ellith a foul look and approaches the door. He pounds the door and says something in a foreign tongue. In Kobold:

"Hey you devil dogs! Come out with your hands up and we won't slit your throats!"

He then steps away and waits.

The door does not open.

Readies her hammer and shield just in case a battle is brewing, though she hopes the negotiation was successful.

"If they do not come out, we need to go in" - Ellith nodded resolute - "Ready when you are" - he added, blade and shield hand.
Faron growled.

Will take a position behind the first rank to best avoid catching a stray arrow, bolt, or sling stone as the door opens. His health is low and he does not want to die needlessly to a terrified Kobold.

Gromp gets to the left of the door, to hopefully get a surprising flank or rear attack should the kobolds rush out attacking.

The group stands there waiting, but nothing happens.

How long will the group stand there?
And what will they do next?

Gromp breaks a mighty wind to ease the tension, and smiles.

The dwarf stays to the side of the door, but reaches and tries turning the handle, should it be open.

If so, he pushes it open while maintaining his side position keeping out of sight. Letting what may happen, happen.

If locked, he rejoins the others. “I can bash it down and we rush in?”
