Loyn-Dwarf Fighter

Loyn hoists unconscious Rida over his shoulder, adjusting the load properly,“You’re heavier than you look…ooh me back!. He says,“Brother Haldric, do you think in your drunkenness you’ll be able to carry Keya? We need to leave now before they change their mind!!!” He starts walking toward the Keep.

Gyb

"Goodbye Tammuz. Gyb will return."

Gyb departs with the others. He takes turns carrying the lantern and assisting with the heavy loads.

Bugs

"Let's Go, Tarlac. One rescue, as promised."

Bugs leaves with the group, seemingly unconcerned about any backsies from the gnolls. "We should follow the river a bit where they pointed. See if we can find any traces of Peppy."

Haldric only glares at Loyn after his comment, picking up the lighter Keya and backing away from the clearing.

Tarlac gets to his feet again and stays near Twofer, who also seems glad to be leaving this unsavory camp full of monsters.

Gyb assures Tammuz the group will return in 6 days to honor their portion of the bargain for their lives, unsure what might actually happen if they don't. The traveling monk hears several of the gnolls complaining as he departs, apparently disgusted by the deal made with the hairless ones.

As the group makes their way back to the river in complete darkness, they nearly walk off the bank into the water, causing Gyb to relight his lantern. While the others can almost feel their heads hit the soft pillows already, Bugs suggests they dont head back at all. He wants to continue searching for Peppy, despite their elderly rescue in tow, a pair of unconscious team members that now need to be carried, and the fact that all of them were nearly killed just a few moments ago.

A loud unseen roar that comes from a southerly direction only strengthens the others desire to get back to the safety of the Keep. Quickly.

Tarlac shakes his head and starts to cross the shallow ford. "Oh shit. We need to GO!"

He hurries his steps while frantically asking "What? What was that?"

"But what about Da?"

Out and a burden.

Haldric, hearing the loud roar, is forced to come to the reality of the situation. "We will return tomorrow to continue the search - I'm sorry - we are too weak and wounded to continue!"

Loyn-Dwarf Fighter

“Haldric is right…Tomorrow is another day! We’re not in any condition to search further this evening with two injured companions. I don’t want to run into whatever creature made that roar either! Let’s get Tarlac home safely and Twofer can tell us about her visit with the gnolls.” He heads back to the keep.

Gyb

"Father might be alive. Gyb really hopes this." Gyb splashes across the ford. "But all of us dying here is no help to him. Searching at first light is the best choice now".

Bugs

He slows a bit, hesitant in his decision, then hurries along to chat with Tarlac. "Hey! What happened? How did you get caught in the first place, and where did Da say he would meet?"

Bugs goes back to the keep with the group.

Where’s Peppy?

Double timing it back across the ford, then all the way back to the Keep's path, the group are glad to find nothing trailing them. Tarlac responds to Bug's.

"Meet? We was just fishin, like every other day. Then before we knew it, we was surrounded by em. Mighta had something to do with Peppy's new strain that had us feelin no pain, if ya know what I mean. I do remember being a little sleepy at the time."

"Peppy got away though, using the river. Smart move, unless one of those giant frogs got em."

"I think them monsters is tellin the truth back there. Peppy an I have been in them trees many times, looking around for his damn mushrooms an such, an we never seen any damn gnoll camp around there before. It does seem like they was ousted from their caves, so maybe they really do want your help. Why else would they just let us go like that?"

The front gates of the Keep are dead ahead, and the torches burning outside it provide a welcome sight to the tired, drunk, and even the unconscious in the group.

We can finish up any last actions or questions here before moving to the Front Gates thread to announce your partially successful return.

Early Morning, Partly Cloudy

Bugs and company decide to go out looking for his father Peppy first thing in the morning. Well, right after healing and some nice warm breakfast anyway.

His friends all agree to accompany the red haired gnome, despite his lack of common sense for most of the things he does. After collecting their gear at the Front Gates, they depart the Keep again, heading out into the dewy morning, glad they have daylight to see by this time.
