Re: Gull's Landing
Bidding farewell to Mave and Ruskin you decide to search what lies below that trapdoor. Bryne, ever-cautious waits for those who are accompanying her down the ladder to gather above while she descend the ladder into the darkness below. The ladder is quite sturdy and though the room below is dark, Bryne lights a torch upon a small room empty save for a crack of light shining through the nearly-closed false wall to the left of the ladder. Preparing for the worse, Bryne readies her weapon and shoves the door open revealing another room:
The room is completely empty of any living souls though two recently dead lie in the middle of the room and one seems to be missing its head. Two burning torches light the room and whoever was here hasn't had time to tidy up. There appear to be no exits and its clear the room is often used for no dust or debris is on the floor save the recently deceased bodies and the blood from their wounds. Bryne studies the room for tracks but can discern none and there is no apparent exit save the door she entered through.Re: Gull's Landing
Nis descends as well and searches for any secret exits.

Re: Gull's Landing
Torvik to Kade looks around getting a bit tired of waiting "What do ya s'pose is takin' em so long?" he taps his foot on the ground (if he had a watch he would be looking at it checking the time.) he tries to gauge how long he thinks it's been.

Re: Gull's Landing
Mave and Ruskin make their way back to the Gallowhawk compound. Mave notes three coaches are being prepared outside for a trip to the Vagary campsite. Inside she finds her family and their guests, having finished their desserts as she rushes in, Ruskin in tow.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the diligent search by Niserie, Bryne and Thena, they manage to find that if one of the stones in the far wall is pushed, it will trigger the wall section next to it to open a small hidden door near the floor. You will need to crouch down to enter.
Up top Kade impatiently taps his foot before replying to his Commander, "I don't know, but I think we should find out." He moves to the trapdoor, "After you Captain? Or shall I take point?"

"Get us some more help, I think we will need. Torvik if you can, he will fit better in here than anyone else."
Bryne will look into the secret passage and see what she can learn.

Re: Gull's Landing
Bryne examines the bodies and determines they are only recently dead (no more than a few hours), one still has a sword sticking in his belly. Both are dressed in leather armor and each body has been ransacked, leaving no other belongings other than empty sword sheaths and any coin purses were cut from their belt, leaving only the part that was the attachment. The body missing the head is a female and the other is male. Several items, books and pieces of parchment are tossed haphazardly about the floor. The boxes and barrel strewn about the room appear to have little use. Though a bag of what appears to be brown rice leans against one shoring beam. A small cup tied to the top.
Bryne shines a light through the opening they find and see small tunnel about 6 feet straight out to what you think is a larger opening beyond though you can't be sure without exploring further.

Torvik nods his head "Aye, and yes Kade on point." he waits then enters the trapdoor.

Re: Gull's Landing
Kade and Torvik both descend through the trapdoor and enter the room where Thena, Bryne and Niserie await, leaving Wilwarin and Mediphera to keep watch above.
Torvik's keen eye examines the room, paying particular attention to the badly shored up beams. His dwarven knowledge of underground construction tells him the room isn't very safe and in time will come crashing down if left in its current state. He also examines the low passage and again it too is of poor construction. Whoever carved it out had little knowledge of proper building methods and its possible it will collapse at any time. Perhaps the room beyond is more stable, but there is always the risk the passage might collapse behind you sealing you in for whatever lies ahead. You consider these issues when you decide your next course of action.

Mave
Mave begins to talk so fast, it sounds as if it is one sentence, quickly explaining the situation to the entourage but in particular locking eyes with her mother pleading for help for Ruskin and those they left searching for the remaining rogue as well as explaining Macree's further treachery.

Torvik relays his findings "Ya know it ain't exactly safe down ere. I've seen huts made a sticks an dung that were more stable. Place could come crashin down any moment it's in terrible shape. Ain't much better up ahead either."

Re: Gull's Landing
The ship creaked and groaned as it slipped into the harbor. Almost as much as Athan did rising from his bunk in passenger cabins below. Though not injured thanks to Morwen's ministrations, he was none the less bruised and battered by the pirate attack off the coast as they sailed towards Lionsgate. Several of the crew was killed and the ship damaged but the Captain and the rest of the crew, joined by Athan, Morwen and Liviel had managed to stave off the pirate ship, which bore the name the Leeward Axe, no doubt native to Canguine and the Seven Sisters. But damage had been done to both ships and after a full day of fire and fury, both limped off licking their wounds. The captain had informed Athan that he needed to berth in the Landing for a few days and that was now the harbor they sailed into. As the gangplanks were lowered Athan, Morwen a sister of the Vale and the scarred illusionist Liviel embarked into Gull's Landing. The harbormaster waited below for them to register and for the Captain to pay his harbor fees. Athan wondered if his former companions had made it here or had left the city already. He recalled Mave mentioning her father was lord of this land, perhaps he might provide the answer to those thoughts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lord Darvyn Gallowhawk cursed as he heard the news about Macree, "Damn his hide! I'm going to notify the captains of the gates that he should be arrested on sight if he returns." And with that he stormed out from the banquet. Malaguerre along with the young mage Sigismund both excused themselves as Mave related more of what they found and in particular what they didn't meaning Abaessa and Vari. Aurens Dalavere hurriedly left headed for his home, while Malaguerre and Sigismund headed for the elder mage's lodgings. While Erel and Garet helped the servants clear the table's setting and food to make room for Ruskin to be laid on the polished dinner table. Mave asked Erel to retrieve her belongings so she might change out of the formal dress she wore and worriedly watched Lady Phillippa and Adwin begin prayers over Ruskin.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mediphera whispered a small prayer herself as she waited with Wilwarin and watched De'Athyra, waiting for the others return. While below in the unsafe cellar, Torvik, Kade and Niserie watched Bryne and Thena disappear down the passage toward the large dark room beyond.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bryne smells decay and rot as she moves down the passage at one point stepping in a pool of blood only just starting to congeal. Her torch lighting the way she hurriedly moves through with Thena close behind. They are halfway through when Thena's helm hits the top of the passage and several pieces of stone crumble to the floor. With that they begin to move a bit faster towards the larger opening. As they reach it Bryne thrusts her torch into the opening and the darkness recedes revealing the dead eyes of a decapitated head staring back at her. It is then a massive hand reaches down grabbing her wrist holding the torch and Bryne finds herself hefted into the air her feet dangling as the light reveals the grotesque twisted face of an ogre whose gravelly voice says, "Bunge we've got some more meat for the larder!" It is then the torchlight reflects five sets of eyes some low to the ground and two more high as the ogre that holds her. "Dibs on her boots," another voice sounds as a humpbacked gnarled creature grabs ahold of one leg.

Mave
Once Erel helps her retrieve her belongings she hurriedly dresses in her armor and gathers her weapons. "Ah now I don't feel naked," she remarks to Erel as she exits her room and accompanies him downstairs again to check on Ruskin.
