The Mausoleum
Re: The Mausoleum
As some of you might have anticipated, after considering my option wisely, Tuurma will attack.

Re: The Mausoleum
I'm posting here instead of OOC to keep things clear, but I understand some may feel it more appropriate there instead.
I think we need damage control, as others have suggested. As I see it, three plus zombies are eating Maxon, one is engaged with Taibhse, two with Tuurma, and two are entangled coming out of the far right north door with unknown more behind them.
No option looks good at this point, but we need to find the least bad one. Everyone still up could bolt west and try to push past the zombies while they are busy. Sorry, Maxon. That may work, we lose Maxon, Kain, and maybe Tuurma if she can't be disengaged. The other concern is that we don't know how many zombies are coming out of that door.
The same goes for going deeper through the entangled door area. No idea how many are in there.
Disengaging and barricading in the ooze room looks possible, we'd have to force Tuurma to join us and I'm not sure how that would go. The problem there is that then everyone is stuck in a closed room with zombies outside. Plus the ooze. We lose Maxon and it may just be a delayed TPK. Or maybe we could find another way out, the ceiling perhaps?
I can't see a way to save Maxon, aside from divine intervention.
I'd love to try to pit the ooze against the zombies, but I don't see the timing working. Kain is down, but if I had a choice, I'd go for holing up and regrouping. Someone will have to drag Tuurma or convince her that the ooze is the most dangerous foe.

Re: The Mausoleum
OM please move this as well if it's better fit for OOC.
I don't know how much semi control I have over a raging Tuurma, but one thing that could work out, and would be true to the spirit of a raging barbarian IMHO, is if Tuurma grappled a zombie, possibly a downed one, carried it away and threw it into the ooze.

Re: The Mausoleum
My original plan, if you trackback a few posts, was that Kain is brought along (carried) and everyone joins Tuurma fighting our way out. MR, do you see that working out?

Re: The Mausoleum
I like the visuals of zombie tossing into the ooze. Maybe that would satisfy it for a bit.
Or possibly allow it to grow in size and pose a greater threat...no, bad OM, don't take ideas from players!
Grabbing Kain and bull rushing past Maxon and the zombettes might actually work. It's quite risky, as we may get hit and fall from opportunity attacks, and I'm not sure how many zombies are in that area now. And there may not actually be room. At this point, which is all we can deal with, I don't think everyone would survive a fighting retreat. We know of three there with Maxon. Managing to kill all three, assuming there aren't more, may take too long and we'd be overrun. Especially with how the dice roller is treating us.

Ceana
Frustrated, angry and scared, Ceana grabs Kain by the arms and pulls him into a sitting position. She then squats in front of him (no...not in that way!) and tries to pull him up onto her back so she can carry him out.
"Quit feeding the damn ooze and help me!" she yells at Belloc, then she screams at Tuurma "We're dying in here! Can you help me?!?"

Taibhse
I'm willing to try the rush towards Maxon. Tuurma, the issue going your direction is that is not a way out but to a dead end. If you guys break that way I will go as well.
I've got torches so we can light some and use them maybe they'll help get through the undead.
Taibhse gets his gear settled for a run out of this predicament. He gets and lights a torch for himself and offers them to any of the others that wants one.

Re: The Mausoleum
If the idea here is to RP out the authenticity of confusion and indecision in a combat situation, this group is nailing it.
The Lost Mausoleum
New Additions
After recklessly abandoning his own well being, the over aggressive Maxon is set upon by the trio of zombies who tear into his flesh and rip out his guts with both teeth and claw. A fourth shambling flesh eater exits the door and joins in on the feast, blocking the only visible escape route even more, though no others are seen by the retreating party members as of yet.
Cormag finally flees the horrific sight, replacing Taibhse in the battle with the lone zombie just outside the crypt door. His sword attack is ineffective, but his armor holds against the rotting beasts clawed counter attack. The fleeing shaman wisely calls for a retreat from this deadly situation, certain the thick crypt door will hold back this deadly hoard of undead. But then he pulls out some torches…..
The only conscious person who seems to be worried at all about the monster which is actually inside the room with them is the dark stranger, clearly still very worried for his own safety. He has seen the grey thing can be injured, and he has magically shrunk it to much more manageable size, but instead of trying to eliminate it completely, he continues tossing food at it instead. When he hears the screams for help from the red headed druid who struggles to hoist up the badly injured cleric, the creature reacts as well, suddenly lurching its diminished blob in the direction of the mage again.
Tuurma does not think. She does not reason or evaluate her situation. She does not care about the easiest path to survival. ALL she can do is fight. Attacking with whatever means she has at her disposal, until there is either nothing left to attack, or until she is knocked out of the fight. So.....she fights, taking down another zombie with her borrowed ax. The remaining zombie gnashes it’s teeth into her shoulder, causing a minor wound, but draining the already injured woman’s strength even further. 2 dam/-2 STR
A third zombie exits the dark crypt into the wriggling wisps of sandy roots, while the 2 already trapped there break free to shamble towards the berserk maelstrom of blood and chaos a few feet away.

Re: The Mausoleum
So reading between the lines, and some of the actual lines, I don't think trying to force our way out toward Maxon will work. Or at least not with a positive outcome.
Holing up and barricading the door is, I think, the wisest path forward now. Tuurma must kill the zombie engaged with her before she can do anything else voluntarily. But since she's been weakened, maybe she could be dragged away and forced to focus on the ooze. Or maybe just pulled into the room while fighting, allowing a zombie or two to enter with her before the door is closed on the others.
There are two zombies right outside, one fighting Tuurma, one on Cormag. There are now two more about to enter Tuurma's fight.
Kain will quite literally go along with what others do.

Re: The Mausoleum
Corgmag takes two swipes at the zombie by the door, and will prepare to grab Tuurma and run into the chamber should she fall. Unless that looks impossible, in which case, he'll just run!

Re: The Mausoleum
Again, the ooze is a very slow mover. (10) Anyone unhindered could easily keep their distance while firing upon it, as Belloc is currently doing.
With limited intelligence, it simply moves towards the nearest target, but can obviously be distracted by loud noise etc., as we just witnessed.
I hope that helps.

Did Ceana manage to hoist Kain upon her back?
If not, she will drag him as far away from the ooze as possible.
Otherwise, she doesn't know what the fuck to do.

Tuurma steps over the twice-dead body of the zombie she just put down and screams - weaker than last time - as she tries to put the axe into the next one.

Now with a lit torch in hand will stand by the door to assist those still outside and help close the door when they get inside. If a zombie comes close enough he would strike it with the lit torch.

The dark stranger easily leaps out of range of the oncoming grey blob, slinging a stone into the monster as it slithers towards him. The damage he causes is not devastating, but the small trickle of liquid reminds the mage of a bleeding wound, assuring him that the creature can be killed, eventually. While the others engage the enemy all around her, Ceana drags the unconscious cleric around the floor, painting the stone red with his blood as she keeps him out of the path of danger.
While the 4 zombies near the entrance to this hallway of death continue to gorge upon Maxon's organs, one of them looks towards the distant battle, searching for dessert. With his torch now lit, Taibhse, along with Cormag, team up on the lone zombie just outside the crypt door. Cormag nearly stops the monster with one fell blow, preventing the thing from making an accurate counter attack upon either of them. They watch in horror as Tuurma is completely enveloped by this unliving mass of rotting, moaning flesh. (anyone who investigated the noise outside the closed doors of Xambaala the last few nights might recognize these as the same moaning noises)
Still screaming, the berserk halfbreed flails wildly initially, dropping to one knee on the sandy floor. Though her next swing is far more accurate, it does not connect with another zombie, instead smashing into the recently thrown glass vail the mage tossed earlier. When her ax smashes the glass apart, and the oxygen in the air contacts the snotty green contents of the broken container, Tuurma and the immediate area around her is suddenly engulfed in a ghostly green flame. The flames splash upon the unyielding zombies, causing them to reel back initially, and foiling their attacks. When the screaming Tuurma rises again to continue her fight, the emotionless burning undead creatures also reassemble to surround the vulnerable woman once again. 0 dam

Cormag connects with a powerful swing on the zombie facing him, as he looks towards Tuurma and tries to count the number of foes she is facing while he does some quick mental math, figuring his distance to her and the distance of the other 4. I think she's got 5 on her, but I'm not sure I'm counting that correctly. He's pretty sure he's gonna run, as 9-2 sounds like really bad odds, but maybe she'll drop a couple this round...
