The Next Door

The swirling ghostly figure of Kazeffron watches with a smirk from the first doorway as the groups scout pokes his head through the recently opened door beyond the spiked pit.

The room is dark and silent, but Drest can eventually make out what looks like a table in the center of the floor with an open jug or large uncorked bottle sitting on top of it.

When Akhilleus gets closer with his torch, a pair of normal wooden doors can be made out at the back of the room. No obvious threats are found from the doorway.

Drest

Drest moves into the room, searching the table and chairs first, then the southern wall (entrance door wall), followed by eastern wall, western wall then lastly the doors, western first.

Valkrina

"More of Rel jokes?" she says. She checks the bottle, uncorking it and pouring a tad out to sniff and swirl around.

Euripides Nereos

Euripides will climb into the room, calling back to the previous one. Hey, Casino Royale, anything you can tell us about this room? I know you don't like us, but if you can help us, maybe we can get back and deal with that other you. Maybe figure out how to free you so you aren't trapped here as a ghost.

The Next Room

With Xenos at his side, Akhilleus moves closer to the door with his torch as the others move into the next room.

Euripides calls back to the ghostly figure behind them, who answers with more cryptic messages. "Yes. It's trapped. And I neither like you or dislike you. Though you do indeed serve a purpose."

Drest and Valkrina approach the table with the large open bottle, the scout finding nothing dangerous with his initial glance of this area.

Valkrina lifts the green tinted bottle from the table without fear, commenting that this might be another silly test from the gods. The vessel is translucent, and the bard can see that it is about half filled with some kind of liquid. Swirling the bottle around gives the impression that there is also something solid at the bottom, clanking around on the glass as it moves. Oddly, when she goes to pour out some of the liquid, nothing spills forth. Whatever is sloshing around seems to be trapped inside the opening by something stuck in the neck of the bottle. There are a few words scrawled on the bottom of the glass container that she cant comprehend.

Drest continues to look around, finding no threats on the wall with the single door his friends still hide behind.

"It seems safe in here, you can come in. Any luck with the bottle Valkrina?"

He listens at the first door (western).

Valkrina

"Hold your breath" she says and rubs the jug.

Not sure if she is expecting a genie or some magic ale to come forth.

If nothing happens after a few minutes she will toss it through the door and in to the pit.

Euripides Nereos

Euripides will climb into the next room. When Valkrina tosses the bottle into the pit, he will look to see what happens to the bottle.

Xenos

When Valkrina moves to throw the bottle into the pit he will go to stop her:

"Why destroy it? It's use may become clear later. I will carry it if you do not want it."

Akhilleus

The warrior joins the group. "We could just try to break the bottle neck and get out whatever's in there. But don't throw it into the pit!"

The Next Room

Drest doesn’t see anything dangerous at the western door. Pressing his ear up to it reveals only silence beyond.

Unhappy with the lack of results from her bottle rubbing, Valkrina simply tosses the glass vessel through the door and into the pit.

Anyone wishing to save the bottle from such a fate can give me a Feat of Dexterity roll to try to catch it in mid air. (d100)

"Stupid bottle. Probably full of fart poison or choking smoke."

Hmmm .... maybe it has the key to the door ...

She thinks as an afterthought.

Euripides Nereos

Since some of the others don't want the bottle thrown into the pit, Euripides reaches out and grabs it when Valkrina tosses it!

Then it slips out of his hand as he attempts to bring it back, allowing it to fall into the pit anyway.

I thought I had it. Couldn't hold on, though. Guess I'll go see what was in it. He will climb down and investigate the wreckage.

The Next Room

Drest watches from across the room as three team members dive to catch Valkrina's frivolously discarded bottle before it crashes into the pit, None of them succeed.

After hearing the glass breaking below, Euripides climbs back down through the spikes to investigate the damage. Finding a small puddle of liquid seeping into the stone floor near the decayed former victim, he sees broken green glass scattered around. There is a strange cylindrical metal device about the size of a bottle neck laying nearby as well. When he investigates it, he finds an intricate machine apparently designed to allow a spring fed stiletto blade to shoot forth once something passes over the upper opening. He also finds the intact bottom of the bottle, printed with the words "Drink For A Sore Eye Or Throat". He can only assume the evaporating puddle was once a healing elixir.

Mixed in with the broken glass is a single brass key.
