"Hail and well met, Isvand! Sit for a spell and drink with us. I guess we might know a little something about what is happening here." He nods at the group of drunken squires near the stage and smiles. "Are you asking about anyone in particular?"
Oh, indeed, indeed not. Other than maybe that serving girl Merda I caught the comment above, doesn't mean he can't have a crush on her... and she should be shorter than the other "bigs." . Everyone and none, I suppose. I've only just arrived in town and haven't fully digested my first meal yet, but I find it's good to know people and the people that know them. I'm sort of on a long walk, and it seems that maybe there might be some interesting goings-on around here that I might find my way into the middle of, with just a little luck and nimbleness. Have you any good tales to share? He looks at you eagerly.

Sven

"We haven't been in town long either, but we have seen our share of action."

"We may have a tale that you would be very interested to hear, but I need to make sure you will be able to handle the excitement first,"
he jokes.

"What is it that you do, you know, as a profession, if you don't mind me asking?"

He looks to Orgoth to see if he has anything to add.

Orgoth

"Isvand, a long walk you say. Sort of like exploring around and seeing what happens? I have heard of that sort of thing before. Sven is right, perhaps you have some skills that might be useful?"

Isvand replying to Orgoth.

Yes, indeed, off to see what this wide world has to offer!! So far, it has been heat, cold, mud, dust, rain, sun, water and grass. Skills? Well, I was never much of a merchant, much to my da's shame. No head for the numbers and the like. I'm a pretty fair hand with a flute, as can entertain myself and maybe a few not too discerning others. I'm good at getting into places that bigs seem to have trouble with. And good at getting into trouble as a matter of actual fact... Looking over to Sven But to answer your question most directly, I've trained long with this sword, bow, and morningstar. 'tis my intent to make my way in this world with skill at arms. and hopefully a little cleverness. Fighter. He's a fighter!

Sven looks up at Orgoth and shrugs.

“I am going to try to find a healer at the chapel who wants to explore with us. If we can find a couple more good swords, and add this fellow, we might have enough members to go back out.”

“He seems like he could handle a trip through the moors, but I will leave the decision up to you, my friend.”

The boy mage looks at Isvand and smiles. “How would you like to join up with a crew that does dangerous things for the sake of fortune and glory?”

He leans in closer. “Mostly fortune.”

Orgoth

"What do you say Isvand, are you in? We could use another person handy with a sword. We still need a couple more but we are working on that and maybe you could help."

To Sven, "Would you like me to come along or just keep watch here for some likely candidates?"

Isvand. Certainly, certainly! At the very least it will be interesting. At the very best, lucrative! Where are we going and what are we doing? In the morning, after a good breakfast, of course!

"Excellent Isvand. I don't think we will be leaving in the morning, we still need a healer and at least and a couple more to help out too. To bad you don't know a healer, Sven has gone looking for one."

”Sven has gone looking for one."
Sven looks at both men, then looks at himself again. “I did?” You must mean, I will.”

“It is decided then, welcome Isvand! We are heading out into the moors to a place where Orgoth and I discovered earlier. A very special place. I will tell you all about it once we are underway so we don’t spoil the surprise. I don’t think you will regret this decision too much.”
Big smile.

“I think the three of us should each try to recruit another member. I will try the chapel first, since I am not of a competing faith. If you guys want to try a few other places, please do. A priest, another strong sword arm, and maybe a good lock picker would round out our group nicely.”

While they drink, Sven leans in close to Orgoth again.

"I have a few things to tell you about the items we found out there last time. But maybe we do that somewhere else?"

He motions around at all the patrons within earshot.

Orgoth

Spotting Steban, Orgoth moves over to him. Orgoth is average in height for a man but tall for a half-orc, in fact its tough to notice hes a half-orc at first. His body is heavily built and he is clearly a physically powerful individual. He wears rough clothing and it clearly shows some recent hard labor.

"Hi I am Orgoth. Are you new in the village? I am looking for someone who might be interested in joining myself and some companions heading out to the moors. Would you like to talk about it? I could introduce you to my companions."

Steban

Shed of his armor and washed in the cold water, Steban arranged for a bowl of yesterday's stew and a pint of local ale. The hearth fires were warm and useful after a long cold shower. He moved towards an empty seat near a fire and took stock of the room. Which patrons looked like they wanted a fight? Those are the ones to avoid. Of course, the flirtatous stable girls would tease, but perhaps one of the big boned milk maids would find even him attractive, in the evening light.

As Orgoth approached, Steban turned square to him. The man...no, the half orc, was shorter but stronger. Laborer? Soldier? Steban's weapons were at hand, but it seemed like the man wanted to talk. Steban kept his face neutral. Easy to do, he didn't know the man. Actions speak.

"Good to meet you, Orgoth. I'm Steban. Join me by the fire? I showered to wash off the travel. The innkeeper warned me that the water was cold, and he spoke the frozen truth." He sipped from his mug. "Please, give me a moment to thaw out. Tell me about your companions, and your planned adventure."

-6 sp for common room, old stew, and one pint of local ale

Orgoth

Orgoth accompanies Steban to the fire, "Well met Steban. My companions are Isvand, a small folk warrior and Sven a mage. Sven and I have been out to the mounds once already with the 10 foot pole squires, we returned safely and are gathering some others to return with Sven and I. Sven is trying to locate us a healer at the moment. If you might be interested I could arrange for you to meet Sven and Isvand and discuss some more."

Steban

"I am new here, and do not know a healer. One would be good to have, though,"
Steban said as he leaned towards the fire. He smiled, "A good feeling; decent ale, warm fire, a meal in the offing. Women dancing nearby, and perhaps I can catch one's eye? Who knows..."

He watched the dancing ladies for a moment, and particularly studied those who did not seem to have partners. "Tell me about yourself, my friend. I will join you and the others shortly, but my mood will be much better if I can regain warmth, enjoy ale, and have a dance partner beforehand. Then, when we talk together, we have a greater chance of success. Perhaps even your friends can be enlivened."

Orgoth

Orgoth smiles, "Yes comfort for a short while is nice but to much makes us weak. I grew up mostly on the road, my Mom and me going village to village for work. Mostly labor in my case. In my teens I apprenticed as a caravan guard where I learned my skills and a few other things I suppose. I am a devote follower of Crom, his ways have taught and guided me my whole life."

Steban

"I have served as a caravan guard, it is hard work. To be honest, though, you look as strong as the horses you were guarding!" Steban grinned. "You also get paid to be elsewhere, which is nice. Seldom paid well, though, and I am a soldier by trade. We like warm fires and smooth ale, but they never last long enough for us to get used to them."

He set his mug on the mantle when the serving girl brought his food. "Tell me about the first trip there; what were the risks? How long did it take, and what gear did you need to have on hand?"

Sven sits with Isvand, trying to visually assess the much more talkative man who Orgoth is currently speaking with from a distance.

He drums his fingers nervously on the table, trying not to look over at them too much, but he totally looks.

Steban

Pausing for a moment, Steban stood firm. "I believe you, Orgoth. But you're asking me to put myself at the whim of others. I have talked to you and have begun to see you as a peer. Them, I do not know. By hearing your story I can better judge them. That's my goal. If I decide to join you, I don't do half measures. I want to join with confidence."

He took the spoon back to the stew. "Please, stay a moment and tell me the tale. We will join them soon enough."
