The Beach Hut
Mid Morning, Cloudy, Cool

Drest takes the topographical chunk of bark out of the tiny shack so the others can also look at it while he searches for some way to copy it. He finds no paper or books, but spots a few burnt ends of sticks in the bottom of the mans tiny cooking firepit. The unruly scout will need to get creative.

Examining the map carefully, they find a line of tiny stones on one edge bordered by heavy green leaves that looks like it might be the beach you were just searching. A small ball of thatch might indicate the location of the hut on the map since it is situated at the end of the line of pebbles. The rest of the coastline is made up of more green leaves, possibly indicating that this end of the beach has been fully searched. The leaf masked Valkrina aggressively attempts to get the naked madman to understand her words, but she eventually defers to the groups mage, hoping for better results.

As the magic of Xenos' spell fades, allowing the madman to speak again, Apollonius calmly questions him. While he and Val draw figures in the dirt, speaking softly about gods and boats, the man eventually erupts loudly, causing those on watch duty to cringe again. "SHIPS! SHIPS! YES! SHIPS! VIKING SHIPS!!!" He pokes at any drawings of Viking helmets with one filthy foot, holding one finger in the air before lunging back into his hut again. He throws open the lid of the battered sea chest and pulls out a dirty white robe. He quickly dons the robe and comes back outside, walking around solemnly with his hands folded in front of his body. "VIKINGS", he finishes loudly.

Actions?

I will get rough draft of the map you found posted here shortly.

Drest

Drest will try and schetch the map on some bark with the charcoal. "Maybe we follow the trail in towards the unknown dark spot?"

Apollonius Triton

The Atlantean's eyes widen and he smiles faintly. "Well. We've established that there are vikings." He chuckles at their new friend.

"Sure, exploring the trail. At least we get to find out something even if it confirms the cannibals ate the Vikings. Let's hope we are not invited for dinner."

Euripides Nereos

Euripides comes back toward the group. Are we heading inland, then?

The Dark Spot
Mid Morning, Cloudy, Cool

The crazed human continues to walk around in his dirty white robe, mumbling inanely with his hands folded in front of him.

Drest scribbles a quick copy of the map on the back of a chunk of birch bark with a soot pencil from the fire, suggesting that they move inland to check out the dark spot on the madman's weird diorama.

With no argument from the others, they begin to head up the tight forest trail. The path quickly becomes nearly impossible to follow, the leaves and branches of the dense forest growing in close and tight. It becomes evident right away that the man they met wasn't interested in making this path to his hut obvious to anyone else. Can I get a d12 roll from Drest, please?

A loud growl from some kind of wild animal is heard off in the distance, but the other forest noises seem harmless enough so far.

Valkrina

Adjusts her garb with large leaves stuffed into belts and her boot tops in case she ever needs a bit of extra camouflage.

"Onja". she whispers.

Euripides Nereos

Hearing the distant animal, Euripides is taking no chances. Realizing his sword will likely be difficult to use right now, he draws his dagger in case it is needed while he does his best to follow the path.

The Dark Spot
Mid Morning, Cloudy, Cool

On their way to investigate the dark spot on Drest’s map, normal forest noises can be heard coming from every direction along the tight path. Their Pictish scout keeps them on the difficult to locate trail for the first portion of the journey.

Val uses more of the greenery enveloping them to augment her already leafy attire. The masked Euripides pulls out his dagger in the tight confines of the forest, all of them staying alert for any dangers.

Everyone eventually hears a concerning grumbling coming from their point man, which wouldn’t be all that unusual from the normally growly pict, but this time even he admits that he’s lost their current trail.

Drest

"Dam, we need to backtrack, this dam mess has me turned around."

Drest will work his way back there own trail, which if its really this dense should be easy to follow, until he finds the trail again.

Valkrina

Okay. Well we will be making our own trail with the bent branches and squished foilage we trample on, so at least we will know where we have come from.

She moans a bit, more out of trudging through the jungle feeling she has little to contribute except follow. She makes a few notes on any exotic flora she finds, cutting a few stems and storing them for some flower pressing later. She tries to collect a random rainbow of blooms. (It's a girly thing).
