While the others prepare to leave this underground area, Magda and Drest poke around in the rubble of the ruined tower. The Witch clears away some stones in one spot and finds what she initially believes is a round gem stuck in the dirt. When she attempts to move it away from the others stones with her staff, the gem doesn't seem to move at all. Drest heads over to investigate, eventually coming up with his Pictish hypothesis that this appears to be a pommel gem from a sword that is completely buried pointing straight down into the ancient rubble.

Cyril offers up healing to any willing to take that chance, but gets only a maybe response from the groups Scout.

Sharing his embarrassment over losing his faculties earlier, Kain helps Ceana find her bearings again. While he and the others gather up their light sources to head out, Ceana wanders over towards the stone bridge for another look at the roaring river below. The Keltic druidess has an unnerving look on her face, but says nothing that gives the others in the group any pause.

The path back up the crisscrossing switchbacks appears to be clear form your current vantage point at the bottom of this massive chasm, but the darkness spreads out in every direction, making it difficult to see much of anything beyond your light sources.

Drest will try to use his dagger to dig the sword out.

Akhilleus looks at Ceana when she approaches the bridge an takes a look down to the river.

"I'm glad you and Kain are yourselves again... What is it that you're looking down there? Everything alright?"

Kainaxarthos

He turns to see some of the group wandering about, digging at the ground and gazing into the abyss.

"No? Ok, let's rest here for a bit." Kain then calls out to Ceana. "You still feeling effects from the Maste... Pig man? Damn. I guess it's lingering for me too."

Xenos keeps watch while the others dig.

EDIT: And pick up his net if it's around.

Taibhse

On reflection he realizes that he took a good blow in the fight. He wanders over to Cyril and asks if the offer still stands for healing.

As well as she can, Magda assists Drest by clearing smaller rocks away from the site of the gem. "Is it not strange for such an item to be buried vertically, instead of resting lengthwise?" she comments.

Leaving watch of the bridge to the others, Skavi picks his way over to join his mistress at the tower site, where he begins to sniff about the rubble.

What size and color is the gem?

"It seems so, but anything is possible in my experience."

Sik pauses his trek up the cliff side, waiting impatiently while the others dig around in the dirt. Although when he catches sight of the sword, his curiosity is piqued ever so slightly.

also, Sik now has his torch lit.

If you want the net that was still stuck to the demon back, just follow Ceana.

Digging the sword from the rest of the buried rubble proves to be easy enough. Once it is uncovered completely, the pair ponder how the weapon can still look as though it were just forged. The blade still feels sharp and the massive ruby setting in the pommel must be worth a fortune of it is indeed authentic. Though it is the length of a common shortsword, its craftsmanship appears impeccable.

Kicking around the remainder of the rubble turns up nothing else of value.

Ceana starts to draw attention to herself as she stares into the darkness down the lonely stone bridge. She doesn't answer anyone, instead blindly walking north over the bridge into the darkness beyond.

Those who had already started to head back up the slopes stop to see what is holding up the rest of their party.

"Dammit." He motions to Ceana. "We need to get her back, come on." Kain urges Sik to join him in going to the bridge to shed some light on the situation.

"Ceana! Hey! Where are you going?!"

Cyril touches Taibhse on the shoulder. Like before, once Cyril mutters the spell and closes his eyes, he opens his mouth and a thin stream of black smoke comes out, entering into Taibhse through his mouth, nostrils and ears.



"Feel better now?

Once we chase down Ceana and turn her back this way, we can depart. She is willing to turn back right?"

Cyril is not really wanting to chase down Ceana, deeper into the darkness.

Drest

Drest tests the sword out. "I need a good short sword, this might be perfect."

Drest keeps his new short sword and follows along.

Sik heeds Kain's call, and rushes back towards the bridge, torch in hand, to stop Ceana from going any further into the darkness alone.

"Ceana! Come back!"

Akhilleus is next to Ceana, since he was keeping guard at the bridge. So he rushes towards her and grabs her shoulder firmly. "Hey, where are you going? We were just starting to leave. That way is dangerous." He will grab even more firmly in order to keep her from advancing if she doesn't respond.

Thanks, yes I do feel better. Chasing large dangerous creatures by herself doesn't sound like her so I would suspect magic at play. Let's hope Akhilleus can stop her, we may have to bind her and drag her back to town.

With that he'll move to assist in stopping Ceana's departure.
