You mean the old bodies were on the ground, noticed by Newton his first time scouting?

"It's going to take time to destroy the stone door, and during that time we'll be in danger from the shadow people. So we might as well focus on them first"

Sorry, yeah, that's what I was thinking.

The Village of Shadows

While the rest of the adventurers decide on their next course of action, Zellar wanders down the road to examine the bodies that Newton had originally spotted, just at the edge of the northern gate. There are the skeletal remains of perhaps a dozen creatures. None of the bones look totally human; they look to be orcish.

It seemed like the consensus was to deal with the shadow people, but Zellar was seeing if the bodies had a connection. So I thought the party was waiting for a report. Am I mistaken?

"Orc bones... likely victims, then, and not cursed remains.

"Shall we check the buildings where we saw the shadows emerge? Perhaps if they are not destroyed they will at least talk to us. They were obviously aware of that desecrated church."

"I'm surprised we haven't seen any yet. I agree we should go and find them"

The Village of Shadows
3:10 pm

The adventurers, upon Zellar's return, resolve to track down more of the shadow-folk. As they approach the building labeled "1" they see shapes milling about at the windows and, surprisingly, in the shade of the covered porch. Four figures are outside, under the overhang, while at least two or three lurk within. It seems that clearly the sun is keeping them from venturing outside; as the adventurers recall, the previous day had been overcast and rainy, with little to no sunlight. These creatures seem, if not vulnerable to sunlight, at least discomfitted by it. They are also very aware of the adventurers presence, and reach out hungrily towards them.

Sumer

"Well, it would be slow going but I have some small magics to hurt them."
If the rest of the party decided on attacking, she will cast her attack cantrip of butcher birds.

"Zounds! This is a place of horror.

"I think the most logical thing to do is to go back and destroy that church. If that doesn't solve the problem, we may be forced to return tomorrow, when we can conjure up more magical weaponry."
This is intense. Open to any ideas here.

Sumer

"I have a potion that would allow me to change my form, but I don't think I can be large enough to have any significant impact on the structure. We may well have to return tomorrow anyway."
Looks like the spell Polymorph Self in OSE says you cannot be anything larger then your hit die (6 for most of us). I can't think of many 6 HD creatures that tend to do structural damage to stone easily.

"Maybe setting fire to the structure will help to weaken it, or damage it enough to close the connection between places"

"Aye. Let's burn the church. Perhaps Ribar can be helpful in calling out to Manifest for his help in reversing the shadow's effect on His building. After all, Manifest can't be thrilled with it's current use. As for the shadows on the porch, I say we take advantage of the sunlight and carefully dispatch those that our spells and Notai's spear can reach."

Ribar looks a little sheepish

"Let me pray to Manifest for guidance"

Is Ribar casting a spell or just praying?

he doesn't have an augry spell or anything like that to provide info, so it's just an ordinary prayer

Ribar prays to Manifest, but there is no response. He does know that it is possible to reconsecrate temples; he has certainly heard tell of the builder-priests of Manifest dedicating shrines to Chaos to their own god of Law, dispelling any evil that may linger within.

Sumer

Sumer watches Ribar in repose; her mind of science and meta science working. "Perhaps it is not destruction that is needed, but redirecting. We have been thinking about how to break it all along, but what about changing it...sprucing it up!"
Can Sumer use either her Magical Engineering or History to know if this has been done/can be doable?
