Back To Work
Freeday, 19th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Partly Cloudy, Warm, Humid

Andronichishche clumsily makes his way past the others again, back to his place in the order, almost insisting that the group retreat from this tunnel of obvious death and regroup in the larger chamber. But when Tlachtga reminds him that their back and forth movements wont do them any good, the priest quickly agrees. Despite her best efforts, the druid cant get her dog to settle down and stop barking.

Maag pushes his way past the others for a second time, moving back to the statue so he can draw the figures face. After a few minutes of sketching, and with Gramble suggesting they simply bring the whole thing back with them, Cresty agrees to push the blocking statue into the next intersection so the group can pass easily.

Lerrick decides that she wont smash the statue once people start discussing how to bring the poor petrified man back to life. Once Maag is finished, (three rounds?) he presses his large body past the others again to allow the paladin to use his amazing strength to save the day once again. Using all of his might, Cresty starts pushing the statue up the passage into the next intersection.

Once he starts pushing on the stoned fighter, it seems to move backwards fairly easily, considering its weight. He moves it past the next opening and shoves it against the wall there so people can pass by easily enough. A blocked off passage can be seen on the left, with another that continues to the north. That's when the rocky ceiling suddenly cascades down all around him. Rocks and rubble shower down upon the vulnerable paladin, leaving him no room to escape the deluge of pain. 8 dam Gramble sees the rockfall as well, trying to fall backwards before he is covered by it too. (4 or 8 dam, depending on the outcome of your Hard Dex check)

A loud crashing is heard by those in the back of the line, followed by a choking cloud of dry dust. The torch held by Tlachtga suddenly goes out, but the second one held by Alordan remains lit. Cu continues to bark through the excitement.

Andronichishche slowly follows the column of explorers further into the tunnel as Sir Crestbrook pushes the statue through the next intersection. A brief flicker of a thought passes through his mind about moving another statue so recently into a nearby wall. Almost immediately after he hears the sound of something similar to falling rock does the thought finally gel into a coherent, but vocal outburst. "Andronichishche, you fool!", he exclaims to himself. As the dust from the debris fills the tunnel and extinguishes Tlachtga's torch he continues his self berating rant. "Another deterrent like the acid trap! That's why the statue was left here, for those foolish enough to make the same mistake." He squints into the gloom, attempting to wave away the billowing dust hanging in the stale tunnel air. He could see Lerrick, and Tlachtga, but little else beyond to suggest what happened to Gramble and Crestbrook. "Mr. Alordan, are you able to see what happened? It sounded like the tunnel collapsed?!" He turns about to face the trailing half-orc. "Mr. Maag, there is little we can do from back here to help in the front, but we can double back and attempt to secure the secret door. If we are to be ambushed, this is the perfect opportunity."

Alordan agrees, "It sure sounded like it - and this dust seems to confirm it" He'll shift forward or back as needed to give folks the most torch light to operate by.

Maag

Maag listens to Andron's explanation of the double statue trap. "Well, you know wot dey say: 'Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, den I really am dat stupid' ".

Maag draws 'arry the Bastard's sword again and cautiously starts to walk back up the hallway toward their entrance point.

Cresty

Hey everyone, the statue is moving with much less resistance now. Just a little...biahghgh ghghggaaagghhhhh!! Deep searing pain spreads throughout the paladin's body as he is battered by huge rocks and debris. He momentarily blacks out after a one of the rocks hits his head. Within seconds he regains his consciousness and slowly begins to realize what just happened. While lying down he slowly moves each of his limbs, checking for any broken bones. Much to his satisfaction no broken bones are detected. I'm...I'm alright...in pain...but ok.... Slowly, he beings to push off the rock to the side, After freeing himself he then stands. He briefly closes his eyes and mumbles a prayer to his diety. In response the paladin feels some relief.

Lay hands on self for 2 hp

Lerrick

The cleric, after the initial blast of dust and debris blasts through the party, steadies herself and immediately moves to the front to look for anyone injured. He sees the shape of the large fighter come into view. Are you alright Gramble! Not waiting for an answer as she can tell by looking at him that he is in bad shape, she touches the fighter, healing some of his wounds.

CLW on Gramble for [1d8] = 6 hp

Checking to see if anything is broken, Crestbrook finds himself to be all in one piece. As the dust settles on the battered and bruised paladin, he pushes the fallen rocks off of him, standing again to address the others, letting them know that he is still alive. He selflessly lays his hands upon himself to heal the worst of his wounds. Gramble seems more angry than hurt that he was also injured by the falling rocks, cursing this trap ridden labyrinth as he dusts himself off. Saracen and Lerrick push forward to help heal their comrades, curing most or all of their ailments.

Tlachtga gets her torch lit again while Cu barks even louder. Coughing up dust as he howls, the dog slowly turns to face the rear of the group. Andronichishche admonishes himself for not seeing the obvious trap sooner, wondering how many more of these little surprises they are in store for throughout these tight tunnels. As the thief questions his intellect, Andron and Maag decide to leave the main group to go back and secure the secret door behind them, cautiously of course..... (those little dots mean you should check your private threads)

Saracen, once the healing is complete, checks to see if the ceiling has blocked the tunnel completely, or if there is still a way onwards in this direction.

There are rocks covering the floor in the intersection, but they can easily be moved out of the way or simply walked over.

This definitely seemed like more of a trap than an actual tunnel "cave-in".

Andronichishche follows Maag back along the tunnel to the secret door. A few moments later while Saracen and Lerrick tend to the injured, Alordan and the others hear a muffled curse from the priest of Rao. "Bloody hell! I knew it!" Seconds later echo the sound of bootsteps followed by another uncivilized expletive and exhortation from the young half-elf. "Run, you fools! Quickly!" Near the edge of Alordan's torchlight can be seen Andron whirling about face, running back towards the group. "Oil please, Mr. Alordan!", is all he says pointing to the rocky floor behind him.

Thank you lerrick, shame to have to waste your power on wounds form a trap rather than true combat.

Seeing Andron running and screaming like a tiny little girl Gramble begins elbowing his way to the back of the group to face whatever threat is coming.

Maag

The half-orc comes back down the passage a lot faster than he went up it. "It's Brutus an' 'e's comin' out of der wall! he shouts.

Finding his plan to run further away blocked by the rest of the party, Maag stops. Then he reaches into his beltpouch and takes out his mirror. He starts to scan the walls and the tunnel. After a moment Maag crouches down, hoping to be below the eye line of Brutus whenever he appears.

"Watch out at der back! 'e's comin' through der walls! he reminds everyone.

As Andronichishche nears Alordan, he can dimly see Gramble in the dust strewn air turning about, making his way back along the line. He notices Cu barking even more incessantly into the gloom from whence he came; Tlachtga straining to see what caught her friend's attention as Gramble squeezes past her. Andron doesn't appear inclined to stop as he attempts to slide his way past those not heeding his warning. "It's Brutus! He can move through rock! Fallback! We must find room, we cannot win this battle here!"

Andronichishche, nearly out of breath from running and cursing and flailing and exhorting, etc. can only respond to Saracen's query with simple, short replies. "Large! Humanoid! Bald! Tattoos! Very strong!
