Team call signs would be useful. "First, Second...", "Able, Baker...", "Alpha, Beta...", whatever. At some point in time we may want to go to sections; the IT folks would be a section, heavy weapons, recon, intel (Liv), flight (Freya), and the grunts like Jakob and Skip.

In a related note I'm thinking Jakob could help organized some combined arms training, as long as no one needed a grenade conversation. 8-)

The above piqued my interest.

Would a players' plot points / notes thread help?

Just somewhere to dump agreements made, oddities of behaviour, stuff that might just be a clue???

Leitz wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 3:37 pm Can you, Tiglath, edit out posts here?
I can delete them (as I believe we all can?)

I also believe I can edit posts (but won't without the author's permission / extreme circumstances).
I appreciate the hesitation to edit, but you're always welcome to cut out anything of mine that needs cutting out. I'll try not to create the need, but life can get in the way.

In other news I'm working on some software that may eventually become useful for just these sorts of things. It's a "CharacterBible"; something fiction writers occasionally remember to keep. It stores data like hair or skin color, UPP, skills, etc. That lets me make sure I describe the short blue skinned person that way throughout the book. :)

More data is useful. Liv's list of former boyfriends comes to mind. :)

Numeric or squad "Names/Callsigns" might be better as some fool named all your recruits phonetically... ;) :D

I think we can delete our own posts, and Tiglath can too.

I've added a list of company members. I will go in later today and fill out where I can with full names rather in addition to their nicknames.

Yeah we need names for the squads, we could use letter, on a whim I've called the recon squad 'R', we could have 'T' for technical, not sure about the infantry. Or we choose to name them after something, animals or suchlike.

"Jess and the Jigglers"

Skip is short for "Scipio" (Africanus, likely), vice "Scorpio".

You do one silly thing for a laugh and it sticks with you for the rest of your time with the unit...

Defo going on a diet.

And not wearing that bra again.

I recommend the following be made "stickies", and separated above if possible:

Combat System -- viewtopic.php?f=849&t=9285
Medicine in Game -- viewtopic.php?f=849&t=9360
Rules and Notes -- viewtopic.php?f=849&t=9281

Collate the various Who's Who
-- viewtopic.php?f=849&t=9481
-- viewtopic.php?f=849&t=10198
-- viewtopic.php?f=849&t=9480

Maybe add to the introduction, and put the Traveller Map notes in it?
-- and the political map viewtopic.php?f=849&t=10178

May also want to start a new "scene" thread since Sojurn is in the 1100 replies zone. :)

There are certain relics venerated by military units which retain legendary and mystic qualities: the Foreign Legion have the wooden hand of Captain Danjou, “Black Douglas” carried the Bruce's heart on crusade but, in the far future, a unit of mercs carry a Wonderbra in a silver casket...

On feast days an honour guard bring it forth and, whilst maintaining perfect drill, display it to all with the traditional yet mysterious “gyratory motion”…

Jigglies and dodgy water works

Jess is getting quite the reputation :-)

Ah, Able knows the context - waterworks as a derogatory dismissal of female distress. Happy to have fixed that, an the rest of the unit can bring cranberry juice to their hearts content :D

An ex-girlfriend called her Wonderbra her "Party-Tits".

EDITED because half a sentence fell off while moving the text from the wordpad

I'm fairly confident that all of the PCs have enough combat time to understand Freya's moment.

While some moments define us for the rest of our lives, they are but moments. They do not rule us, unless we allow it.

That's Sarn't-Major, if yer not usin' my name. Jess smiles, indicates Freya with a nod : So the civvy learns ter get it right, eh Leften'nt?
Depends on the military, I guess. Calling any level of sergeant just "Sergeant" is proper in the US military. Just like referring to a Navy NCO as "Petty Officer X." It's not a derogatory term by nature, though a Smith could use it that way. It's just short-hand. :)
