Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
All good points it was just a thought that crossed my mind. Poison bolts, darts and arrows are a thing so why now diseased ones? But true if that orb hits they will be rendered useless unless they were entirely metal shaft and all not just merely the tips.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
I rolled my own made up "chart" to determine sword type. Couldn't find anything quickly might be a table for it in the DM guide. Basically I just looked at the listing of swords in the PHB rolled to see what it was and got Khopesh. Which honestly I've always liked non-standard looking blades.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
A cool sword design for sure. He is better with his scimitars, so will use those unless he thinks he needs magic to hurt his opponent.
Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
Khopesh is similar to Scimiatar in design no?

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
The khopeh is shorter, was made of bronze and primarily an infantry weapon. Like many bronze swords they were weight forward. The style of use would have been very different than a scimitar, which was steel, much lighter and designed for use from horseback.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
Exactly a Khopesh was almost an Axe like sword. Incidentally saw one episode of Forged in Fire where they made these. I like to have dwarves that wield these swords since the cliche is hammers, axes, maces big heavy weapons to chop or bash things with. I like to change it up.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
Well seeing as it is an Egyptian weapon....if wiki's have any truth to them.
"The khopesh is an Egyptian sickle-sword that evolved from battle axes."
Scimitar
The curved sword or "scimitar" was widespread throughout the Middle East from at least the Ottoman period until the age of smokeless powder firearms relegated swords to dress and ceremonial function.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
I've done that as well. What I like to do when a DM allows it is have a Dwarf with polearms usually my favorite Lucerne Hammer.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
From the practical stand point I think crossbows, spears and short sword really would be best underground and translate just fine to outdoors as well. Slings are a natural outdoors but not practical in tight spaces, same with bows. Stab/thrusting weapons rule underground. In my Harn campaign we agreed to sort of model dwarves after the Gurkha of Nepal, thus their traditional weapon is a Kukri.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
I can see that though I like the Cinquedea dunno certain short swords that have different looks to them are appealing to me. Then again I do like the Gladius sword as well and it is a more simple sword.

Both fine weapons, any short thrusting sword coupled with a shield would work just fine.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
Call me crazy I always wanted to try having a character that used a Cestus as their melee weapon "specialty" just never brought myself to run it.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
I have seen a couple of gladiators in HarnMaster using improvised cestus. Not the best choice as a primary weapon.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
Yup partly why I never bothered to roll a character up with it maybe a monk in an arena style game.

Re: The Void (OOC Stuff)
That is something I may try and run sometime. A arena style game with the HarnMaster combat rules. It would be pretty cool but I would need to find the combat rules somewhere free.
