Grossphil the Feeble

Grossphil enters the room and his eyes immediately widen as he takes in the appalling forms of the crazed fighters. The wild look in their eyes remind Grossphil of at least 20 different diseases he's read about and he shudders. But upon realizing these monsters are assaulting his party, and possibly infecting them with their disease, Grossphil takes action.

Grossphil casts magic missile at the crazed fighter attacking Elitir. Magic Missile [2d4 +2] = 3+2 = 5

Wow the 1 time I attack and I do basically minimum damage :(

Mac

Mac exits the portal, a bit shaken by the experience, and takes in the situation."Good Gods! Ruffians! Possibly barbarians! Or maybe just unwashed hooligans." He starts to move to the north, to position the large table between him and the aggressors.

"Where's Pumfrey? Didn't he come this way?"
"Now that I think about it, they are most likely Barbarians from the North. Yes, that's it. How odd."

Elitir

Elitir continues to attack the same lunatic.

Long Sword to hit [1d20+1] = 8+1 = 9 damage [1d8+1] = 5+1 = 6

I will NPC Finn this round so the rest of you don't have to wait any longer.

Kitchen
Berserker Bakers
Arrival Night
Round 1

The battle commences in a flurry of blows and slashes. Elitir and Zefarrel press their attacks on the crazed fighter facing them, neither doing any real damage to the freak. His retaliation is even more brutal this time when he attacks each of them with one blow. His ax slices into the arm of the priest in the process. 4 dam Just when the girls think they might not actually be able to injure this aggressive enemy, 2 tiny bolts of energy sizzle through the air past them from behind, hitting their target unerringly. The big proto-human howls with pain, but it seems to only make him more angry with his counter attack.

Finnigan stands toe to toe with the second berserk fighter. Unfortunately, his ax fails him on his second swing and he ends up taking a vicious hit from both of his opponents attacks this time. 9 dam :?

Sprig shoots in between the newest arrivals and the fighting, hoping to get around the table for a sneak attack on one of these brutes. They ignore the tiny threat completely and he hustles into position, quickly coming up behind the pair. Mac also moves north around the table, wisely keeping his distance from the battle. He asks about the suddenly missing Pumfrey, to which he gets no answer. The learned mage finds it odd that these uncouth beings would be in here in the first place. He silently wonders how they came to be the masters of this strange kitchen.

Actions!

Elitir 17/22
Zefarrel 16/20 4/4 first 3/3 second
Grossphil 16/16 1/2 first 1/1 second
Mac 7/7 2/2 first 1/1 second
Sprig 10/10 2/2 first
Finnigan 13/25

Pumfrey may still be out there somewhere, just in case you come back to us, Lunna.

Finnigan continues his attack against the berserker, starting to go into a rage himself...

(Sorry, was busy with remote testing the last two days at work. I thought we'd all agreed that you'd make the rolls, OM, which is why I didn't include any. If you want, I can, but I'm absolutely happy with you making them.)

Grossphil the Feeble

Grossphil sees his magic missile hit one of the berserkers (and curses when it doesn't die) and hopes his fighter allies can handle the rest. With such a measly strength and no more offensive spells remaining, Grossphil will simply stand well back from the battle and watch the portal he and Mac had entered through the previous round to see if Pumfrey or perhaps an unwelcome individual enters through it.

Mac

Mac keeps moving around the table. Curious as to the nature of the berserkers, he is looking for anything in the area that looks like it may be of importance to them.

He peeks in the open wooden closet when he reaches it.

Trying to do his part, lest they all die of incompetence in this kitchen, Sprig attempts to stab one of the barbarian attackers from behind with his short sword.
Attack with Short Sword (THAC0:20): To Hit: [1d20] = 9 Damage vs. s/m: [1d6] = 4, vs. Lg: [1d8] = 6I have no idea if there are any bonuses to this "sneak" attack...

(edited) ...until I looked it up, that is :) (I never play thieves).
So, at the DM's discretion, that'd be a 13 to hit and X2 damage. 8-)

Alethan, I think we discussed me making all of the initiative rolls, but I am ok with everyone making their own combat rolls etc. if they want to. I am also fine with making them for you, if you would rather go that route. :)
Kitchen
Berserker Bakers
Arrival Night
Round 2

Things aren't looking too good for our fledgling explorers in their first dangerous encounter. Both of the girls miss their marks again. Elitir is just barely able to block the vicious counter slash from the crazed fighter, who only swings once this time.

Finnigan seems stuck fighting his opponent all alone. Their axes grind together and sparks fly as the pair trade off ineffective blows.

Grossphil keeps his distance from the dangerous scuffle, not at all interested in getting sick......or bloody. He watches around the room, especially at the doorways, in case any other threats appear.

Mac continues around the table, also steering clear of the fighting. He doesn't spot anything that he thinks might be dear to the men, so he pokes his head through the doorway with the wooden door. The mess is considerably less in there, though a few foodstuffs are scattered about. He sees shelves filled with more of the same things that are strewn about the main room of the kitchen, though most of these in here are still intact. With his cursory glance, it seems clear that this is the kitchens pantry, that is now serving as a sleeping area. He sees 2 makeshift bedrolls spread out on the floor made up of towels and rags, but not much else draws his attention.

Sprig moves through the clutter on the floor as quickly as his little legs will take him. The brutes pay no attention to the little gnome whatsoever, being totally engrossed in their crazy aggressive style of fighting. Sprig leaps up and stabs at the closest berserker's backside. His blade digs in deep, causing a cry of pain to escape from the brute, though he still does not fall.

Actions!

Elitir 17/22
Zefarrel 16/20 4/4 first 3/3 second
Grossphil 16/16 1/2 first 1/1 second
Mac 7/7 2/2 first 1/1 second
Sprig 10/10 2/2 first
Finnigan 13/25

Feeling that things might be going his way, Finnigan pushes back against the Berserker, hoping to throw him off balance.

Attacking again.

Long Sword to hit [1d20+1] = 3+1 = 4 damage [1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9
Unbelievably, getting worse.

Deftly avoiding the clutter on the floor after his initial strike, Sprig crouches in place, resisting the very strong urge to flee to a safer distance. That brute should've gone down! These are clearly no ordinary opponents. Mastering his fear for the moment, he'll leap forward again to attack, hoping to end this confrontation sooner than later.
He immediately regrets not running.

Grossphil the Feeble

"That's it Zefarrel, put your back into it! Come on Elitir, I know at some point you'll get him!" Grossphil is out of options other than cheerleading through his speaking cloth so the dust that gets knocked about by the combat doesn't infiltrate its way into his immune system. He makes sure to continue standing far away from the actual battle.

Mac

Mac is undeterred by the lack of personal items that he could exploit. He continues moving around the room, heading for the metal door. Once there, he will attempt to open it.

Arrival Night
Round 3

Finnigan drops his shoulder and shoves the crazed fighter back towards the wall, catching him off guard and disrupting his first attack. After catching his balance again, he charges back towards the dwarf, nicking him with his nasty ax on his second swing. 2 dam

Elitir, Zefarrel, and Sprig continue their assault on the other berserker. This time the priestess is able to score a hit against the side of the brutes thick head, but the others don't seem to fare as well. The freakish man shakes off the wound and swings back hard with his ax, cutting deeply into Zefarrel's armor and flesh not once, but twice. 6 dam

Grossphil makes an attempt to cheer on the combatants from a safe vantage point, hoping it will help them to fight better. He cant imagine the germs they are spreading to each other at such close proximities. Mac also keeps his distance from the combat, walking over to the metal door next. The thugs ignore him, staying extremely focused on their battle. He pulls on the doors bar-like handle and a slight resistance is felt. Once open, the big metal room feels just like the little corner cabinet in the Living room. A swoosh of cold air and frozen steam exits the small room once the door is opened. The mage finds the room filled with hanging salted meats, dressed animal carcasses, strings of sausage, and a few other food stuff items kept in the cold room to keep them from spoiling.

Actions!

Elitir 17/22
Zefarrel 10/20 4/4 first 3/3 second
Grossphil 16/16 1/2 first 1/1 second
Mac 7/7 2/2 first 1/1 second
Sprig 10/10 2/2 first
Finnigan 11/25

Finnigan continues his assault. He is starting to grumble because of how long it is taking.
