The half-elf stands at the mast, relieved the battle is over. He breaths a big sigh. "That we too close." he says out loud to no one in particular.

Ferris
The gnome from home, gets a few passengers to hold up a cupboard door over a holed section. He grafts away, knocking nails and heads into shape. He hopes with all the commotion and fuss someone will bring a caught shark down and he can carve out a few steaks to sizzle on the griddle. Though he carries a kitchen cleaver he is not really much of a cook save for 'thrillin n grillin' on the bar-b-q. His native craft came from mining ore and gemstones. It was the tales of fabulous large island sparklies' that caught his ears and booked his passage aboard, managing to grab a proper berth in the cabin signing up (more like bribing his way in), as cooks mate, chief bottle washer and food taster.
His under cupboard bench bed, filled with pack and pick undisturbed despite the buffeting sets him at ease. When the holes are staunched and folk drift back above, he will sit atop a large stool stirring the cooking pots with a long wooden spoon whilst reading from a leathery volume, practise waving it around in conductor fashion as he incants arcane words to memory.

"Oh! you are such a big hero!" Krystal says to Monocar, stroking his muscular arm softly and leaving him dangling on the end of the rope. "Now if you will just put these fish bits onto the end of the grappling hook then we can catch ourselves some seafood revenge for dinner if they decide to come back."
She hands him the holed bucket of fish bits and will then scout the deck for the mage characters and the ship scribe.

Chauncey the Adequate
Chauncey straightens out his rumpled robes. Noting the look on the Wes's face and recalling the "interaction" between him and the attacking fish, he deduces that the fellow must feel bad about killing one of natures grand creatures. "Your nature abilities are impressive, sir. However, it was them or us - I do not believe you could have swayed the entire school from devouring us. They seemed intent on lunch. Though, they might have invited you to join..."

Monocar Jemara
Blushes a bit as the pretty elf maid strokes his arm. He figures he is about to be pulled up when his face falls at being handed a chum bucket. "But.... wait...! What?!" He watches her go and gawks at the gaff and fishbait in his hands as he continues to twist and swing in slow circles over the edge of the boat. Finally he pants his feet on the side of the hull and grumbles a bit, speaking to a fish head as he jabs it onto the end of the hook. "You know, I'm starting to have second thoughts on that dragon lady of an elf and this whole trip..."
In a high pitched voice: "but monocar, what about the adventure?"
To the fish. "Yeah, i know... but do you think there is something weird about her?"
"Weird? You're the one talking to a fishhead on a stick!"
"Hmmmm... good point. In the drink you go!"
"Oh no! Not me! Ahhhhhhh...! *gurggle gurggle gurggle*"
And he decides it is always a good day to go fishing.

Luther pauses in mid-draw, seeing that the crisis is over.
Thank the Gods! he says. He quickly stows his bow and begins moving around the deck, helping settlers untangle themselves and checking for injuries. He claps Wes on the back in passing. Good job there, brother. Too bad we had ta kill them.

As the commotion finally dies down, Saracen and Raythan begin going through the pile of passengers, looking for any serious injuries. Other than a few scrapes and cuts from being tossed about the deck, the people look to be just fine. A little shook up no doubt, but no worse for wear. When little Jack finally climbs down from the rigging, the captain heads straight for him. Shockingly, he only pats the little boy on the head and messes up his tuft of blonde hair.“That was some superb shooting there little fella. Sorry about threatening you earlier. I’m glad to have you aboard, son. Now……please stay the hell out of my sails!”
Ferris continues helping the crewmen patch the rents and then goes back to his studies and cooking. Lightfinger leaves the tall gnome to his business as he heads back up on the deck. He finds Monocar still dangling from the rope over the side of the railing. The giant man spins around on his line, smacking into the hull occasionally. Miss Tal encourages him to do a little fishing as long as he is so close to the water. He spends the next few moments having a very non druid-like conversation with his new fishy friend. A little reluctant at first, he obliges by sticking the fish head on the hook and dropping it back into the sea.
Wes stands at the rail watching the power of nature take place. He feels a bit guilty for the death of the creature that he was trying to communicate with. Chauncey and Luther notice this, so they move in to console and thank the druid for his part in the slaughter.
Once it is determined that there are no real injuries, and that the hull damage has been temporarily patched, Captain Quark makes a short announcement to the passengers.“Well, let’s all hope and pray that those things will be the most dangerous monsters that we have to deal with out here! Very well done everyone! I was getting a little worried when the first bunch came around for another attack. I have never seen them do that before. Now let’s all try to get a little rest and forget all about that little unfortunate incident, shall we? By my estimation, we will arrive at the island before noon tomorrow. So, just sit tight for about 20 more hours and hopefully we don’t have any more excitement along the way!”
He motions to a pair of his larger crewmen to go and pull Monocar back up and over the railing. Once he is back on deck, they take the chum and hook from him, showing the fighter how fishing is really done on board. Within a few moments, they have 3 huge mackerel that were hanging around the ship hooked and up on the deck. “Looks like we’s gonna be eating real good tonight, folks!”
If there is anything else that you would like to do on the ship before arriving at your destination, please do so now. Otherwise, we will be jumping ahead to the morning in my next post.

Saracen will offer to destroy some of the water below deck to help speed the emptying process along.
He will lead a prayer to Pholtus that evening as the sun begins to set. It's quick and painless.
Am happy to move it along.

Monocar Jemara
Seems delighted to be hauled back up and tosses "Fishy" overboard before replacing the gaff where he found it. He is all to happy to take a fishing lesson from the sailors and is genuinely excited to help haul up thier catch. He does what he can to make friends and however indirecrly, get info during this time. He will also make a trip to the damaged hull to see what assistance he can lend to the repairs done there and report any problems he may notice with the woodwork there to the officers.

"Thanks, captain!"
A minute later, Jack moans, "20 hours?!?"
Five minutes later, "Are we there yet?"

Will trace the mages and talk to them regarding their passage. They are not adventurers but passengers? Enquiring as to their purpose in going to the island. "So do you have contacts on this place? Are they seeking anything more specific than 'riches and wealth'? Perhaps they know this Mr Nehru?

The handsome Halfling returns to his squared area and flops down next to his carpetbag with an exasperated sigh, as if he saved the entire ship by himself and now requires rest.

Chauncey the Adequate
Before returning to his allotted space to rest and study, Chauncey will approach Monocar. "Good day to you, sir. Allow me to introduce myself: I am Chauncey the Adequate. Perhaps you've heard of me...?" Here he pauses for a moment. "Ahem!... No matter! Soon you will have had. For I am well on my way to becoming the greatest magician who ever lived.... " He says this last part a bit too loudly, perhaps. There is an uncomfortable pause before he continues. "You seem a capable sort, eh... physically. I noted your bravery concerning the fish. And you seem relatively straight-laced, as it were." Here he frowns momentarily in the direction of Lightfinger. "Unlike some on this vessel.... Ahem! As such, I would invite you to consider aiding me in my enterprises, once we reach landfall. And, perhaps, should you need magical assistance of the highest quality, you may consider me at your disposal. Ah... subject to my availability. ...I will no doubt be in extremely high demand." He steeples his fingers and smiles. Not intentionally creepily, but, well... he can't help it.
He will also approach Brufrig and Saracen with similar offers, knowing that he will require the aid of some fit, fighting types if he is to be successful on the island. In spite of a daily regimen of deep-knee bends and arm flexing exercises, he's never been able to "beef-up," much to his chagrin.
He keeps a wary eye on the she-elf... sorceress? He's not sure at all what to make of her yet...

Brufrig Granitesunder
Hearing Chauncey's recruitment pitch, the dwarf frowns. The Adequate, eh? You might want to pick a different name if you're trying to sell yourself and your abilities. The Great or something similar would make people much more likely to hire you. However, I guess that in coming to this island, we are all pretty much wiping the slate clean so maybe you'll become The Great. Anyway, he gestures at Wes, my new friend Wes and I have decided that we don't want to cut trees or guard the people cutting trees, if that is what they want us to do. We want to explore and see what we can find, hoping to make our fortune. I can't talk for Wes, but I would be happy to have you join our little group. We'll need more people and more skills than the two of us have.

Chauncey the Adequate
"Ah! Ah ha!... yes," Chauncey replies to Brufrig, "You are a Dwarf of good sense, as I suspected! And keenly perceptive. 'Adequate' is an epithet indeed not chosen but foisted upon me by... ah... my mother." A shadow darkens his brow and he glances over both shoulders briefly before turning back and continuing, the look of concern passing as soon as it had appeared. "You see, I intend to keep the name and, by dint of my very greatness, cause people to respect and fear it. If they are no-good-niks, that is. Ne'er-do-wells and the like. Or anyone, really. ...Why just today I defeated one of the beasts single-handedly, you may have noted. Without harming it, physically." He beams proudly in Wes's direction. "I can't say I share your partner's affinity, or indeed sympathy for the natural world, but I see no need to harm a non-evil creature if there is another recourse." ...I can't see a reason not to, either - Sleep is the only spell I had prepared, he thinks, but best make a good impression...
"And what is your particular skill set, sir, if I may be so bold??" He adds, addressing the Dwarf.

Wes
"Indeed, your restraint was quite admirable," he replies to Chauncey, "considering the beast was trying to kill you. A man who can keep his cool under pressure like that, would be someone I'd be happy to work alongside of".
"Obad-Hai does not have a problem with someone defending themselves, or hunting to provide food for their family. Those who can live in harmony with nature have little to fear. Those who indulge in wanton destruction will find that nature is red in tooth and claw."
Wes pauses for a moment, considering. "You know gentlemen, this talk of hunting makes me think that perhaps we should ask Luther over there if he is interested in joining us. Our paths crossed once or twice back home and I know he is skilled at hunting and tracking in the wild. And you have seen for yourself that he is a good man in a fight."
Wes rises and wanders over to Luther. "What do you think, brother? Some of us are going to work together to seek opportunities to explore when we get to the island. Does that sound like something you'd be interested in?"

Monocar Jemara
After everyone has supped on their fishy feast, Monocar seeks out and eventually finds Saracen. He is obviously happy to find the half-orc and pats him on the back heartily. "Hey! Saracen, right? So, partner, what are we up to once we hit the mainland? Sounds like the captain is wanting us to watch some loggers harvest some trees like we saw on that other ship. Frankly I'd rather own the logging company than work for it, and either way i had a fill of that back home. Anyway, we can talk about that later if it hits our fancy... I think that there are a few others on this boat looking to strike out and explore once we land this rig tomorrow. What do you say we get with one of them and see what they are up to? That bear man Luther seems a good sort, and after seeing the boy Jack shooting today, I wouldn't mind having him around either. I'm not so sure about that elf lady though. Something about her makes the hair on my neck stand up." He whispers so loud they probably hear him on the mainland: "I think she is a dragon in disguise..." Looking over his shoulder he turns back to the cleric. "Anyway, i remember my da saying to me "Monocar, you... well, never mind that part... Monocar, you'd best learn your prayers while on the road cause if you set foot outside this town, it will only be devine intervention that will see a... well... lets just say see me back home... anyway, I'm not quite ready to head home yet, but lucky me! I ran into you! Now that has to be some devine divinity right there! You can teach me how to pray to Omi Dee while we travel and I can teach you about wood working. Religious people love Carpentry, or so my da always said. Besides, neither of us should go it alone. Am I right? for once... he seems to be taking more than one breath... in fact... for one of the first times on this whole trip, the enthusiastic young man seems to be genuinely waiting on someone to reply. Devine intervention indeed! He grins and puts out a hand ready to seal the agreement.
