Yeah... I noted that skeleton before, but Beith is all about the cycle of nature. So Clay isn't interested in collecting the bones and returning them to his family at the Farrow farmstead.

Let's head in there. Clay will follow with Morr.

Foxy suggests the bear goes in first and will only follow if it does. Grizzly has not committed to that. Clay and Mors say they're going in - is that alone? First? Only after XYZ?

Right now I only have Clay acting. Before I move ahead I need confirmation and marching order. The cleft is single file.

Halfpint is in no hurry to run in with them warned and alert. She will wait until the majority agree to go in.

Baxtaw shoulders his bow and readies a spell. (Magic Missile). I am ready. Lets proceed.

Clay was willing to go in with the others. He certainly wouldn't mind using the bear as a shield. I am happy to wait for a post from Starbeard to clarify what his characters are doing.

I think the idea was to send in the grizzly and if not to firebomb the goblins out before we charge in. Baxtaws spell may be just as effective.

My preferred order of attempts would be to try any relevant spells first, otherwise head in with the bear at the lead. Fire bombing may be iffy if they are behind protection, and we'd just have to wait until the fires stopped before we went in ourselves, starting the whole discussion over again.

with only 15-20 min left of the blessing,

Clay strikes a torch, loads a stone in his sling and rushes into the cave, followed closely by Morr. Even with a torch, the speed and dim lighting make it too difficult to do much besides act as targets.

Initiative [1d6] = 2
Sling [1d20] = 4, damage [1d4] = 1
Morr [1d20] = 6, damage [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7

I wanted to advance the story. Bless was not included in those rolls.

Does it make sense to go in a blaz'n if we have no spells, etc?

Not at all, but the story was stalling out. We have to go in at some point, so let's do it while we're blessed. Ot the did just did an extremely fish thing.
Either way, there were only 4 wolves so hopefully there are only that many goblins.

With no spells left to cast ahead of them, Clay and Morrs charge in first, forming a vanguard with Huckleberry the bear at Grizzly Woman's command. Baxtaw follows, his magic missile spell on his lips. Foxy and Halfpint bring up the rear with their bows, but due to the narrowness of the cleft, do not make it into the cave on this round. The three hirelings round up the mounts and protect them outside the cave.

Torch in hand, Clay is the first to reach the chamber, the others close behind. With a commanding yell, the goblins release a spring-loaded trap, firing a volley of snapped-off stalagmites at the party! Dozens of sharp stone bits shatter around them. Clay and Morr manage to dive to the side in time, but Baxtaw (-5) and Huckleberry (-10) both are impaled. Baxtaw releases his burst of magical energy -- it streams across the cavern and knocks a goblin archer flat just as he is about to fire. Three other arrows fly from the dimness beyond the torchlight, however, one of the arrows thudding into the bear's abdomen (-6), too. Clay launches a sling stone ineffectively and Morrs is too overcome to reach his foes in time. Huckleberry, however, is enraged, bleeding, and near death. The bear lunges forward and bites the goblin who shot her clean in half with his vicious teeth. The other two goblins duck behind the cover of stumpy stalagmites and prepare another volley of arrows.

Round 2: Everyone can now act inside. Actions!

Halfpint will fire wildly as soon as she enters, not quite focused on what she is trying to hit, with expected results.
Shortbow [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5; [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2

17 arrows left

Clay sees Huckleberry taking the brunt of the damage and feels sick with worry for the bear. He hurls a rock into the darkness.

Morr, having grown accustomed to attacking the shambling undead, fares no better against the twitchy goblins.

Sling with Bless [1d20+1] = 6+1 = 7, damage [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2

Morr [1d20] = 7, damage [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7
Please note that I forgot to add +1 to hit and wound for Morr, so I was trying to create a macro and accidentally rerolled with that and came up with this fumble:
Morr with Bless [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2, damage [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5
So if you want to use the fumble, that is fine. You should.

Initiative [1d6] = 3
Stirling, please reroll initiative.

The Grizzly Woman emits an enraged roar and hurls her fear-soaked 'Good Knife' at the nearest goblin before charging in after Huckleberry.

The Good Knife (ThAC0 19? thrown, range 10/20/30): [1d20] = 2, damage [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3

Arrows and stones crisscross the cavern as the goblin shoots at the bear but misses and everyone else shoots at the two goblins and misses. Baxtaw's arrow alone finds its mark, claiming one goblin's life. Huckleberry

With the foes vanquished, the adventurers find themselves in a small limestone cave. It is just tall enough for them to stand upright, stalactites clustered thickly above their heads. Iron pitons hold four sets of chains to the wall on the right side. Smelly rag bedding has been burned to grimy ash in lumps around the cave, a heap of midden at the caves rear. The cave is perhaps 20' by 30' with uneven natural walls, a pool of fetid water collects the drips from above on the left side cavern, the ceiling too low for humans to reach it. It does take long to circle enough for the torchlight to reach all corners - you see no obvious exits and no creatures appear.
