Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
Flynn, a little more confident, whips his thin steel in a flurry.
Initiative D6 [1d6] = 6+2
Rapier to hit roll [1d20+7] = 6+7 = 13 Damage [1d6+3] = 5+3 = 8

Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
Whitsell continues to fight through whatever spell has been placed upon him...
long sword attack [1d20+4] = 5+4 = 9 thac017; damage [1d8+4] = 5+4 = 9
But, the spell's effect is obviously affecting his fighting ability...

Deceidon sees his on-rushing foe and quickly shoots an arrow at him.
Bow Attack Arrow #1: To Hit [1d20] = 12, Damage [1d6] = 5
If that clearly isn't possible due to distance...
Deceidon, set upon by the on-rushing foe, drops his bow and attacks with his sword.
Sword Attack [1d20] = 17, damage s/m [1d8] = 8, damage L [1d12] = 6

Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
You guys win initiative this round.
The two sword-wielding guard that accompanied Hal try to intercept the rushing opponent in a pincer attack. One of them misses, but the other manages to damage the armor and creates an opening, revealing the identity of the armored foe. Inside, a swirling mist is found, a red mist... No body inside. Deceidon, having about enough of this, drops his bow and closes the short distance between himself and the charging foe. He plunges his blade into the opening in the armor and watches as it collapses to his feet, unmoving. He looks up and finds that the guard who assisted him is also perplexed by this discovery.
The archer guard switches his focus to Flynn's foe and successfully fires an arrow, penetrating the armor of his target as well; a bold move on the guard's part considering that it almost hit Flynn, but the swashbuckler has had his fair share of close calls while dealing with crew hands on the stormy seas. An arrow brushing against his face might as well be an empty rum bottle flying in the air during a drunken cabin brawl. With renewed confidence in his abilities, Flynn follows up on this arrow strike and finishes his opponent with a flurry of thin steel. The armored foe collapses and becomes unmoving, just like Deceidon's.
Captain Hal, former royal guard, continues his effort in holding off his own opponent, dodging sword strikes while dealing those of his own, twice as many as the enemy's it seems. He does not waver and seems to hold his ground as the others mop up some of their foes. One cannot help but wonder how many years of combat experience this man has, to able to fight like he does and not even break a sweat!
Whitsell must be some under some sort of curse, for his attacks do not land and his opponent's does! The room echoes with a yell of pain as Whitsell's opponent brings down his longsword heavily upon the holy warrior's armor. The sword strike shatters a part of the armor and cuts deeply! (Whitsell loses 14 hit points, opponent rolled a natural crit) All attacks with Whitsell's sword arm now has a -1 penalty to to-hit and damage.
Recap:
Heroes win initiative this round and manages to take down two of the four opponents. One has been weakened by Hal, but the other manages to perform a critical hit on Whitsell, damaging his armor and causing severe bleeding to his sword arm. Whitsell loses 14 hit points. Everyone else is fine.

Flynn gives the archer a wink and changes his efforts to Whitsells opponent.

Whitsell will attempt one more time to swing,
long sword attack [1d20+4] = 7+4 = 11 thac017; damage [1d8+4] = 4+4 = 8
(minus the 1, so likely a miss)
and will then retreat to bind his arm...
does he have 15 hp now?

Deceidon hacks at the armor attacking Whitsell, but fails to get through.

You guys win initiative this round, here is what happens.
Whitsell strikes at his opponent one more time before beginning his tactical withdrawal. The holy warrior's sword arm has clearly been effected from the last attack and the treatment of his wounds takes priority. Flynn steps in and batters Whitsell's opponent around with his sword strikes, quickly gaining its attention. Deceidon, too, joins in on this diversionary effort and helps keep the armored foe preoccupied. Captain Hal continues his skirmish and swings his long sword with great ferocity. The foe stumbles back a bit from the full-powered blow and drops its guard just long enough for one of Hal's men to secure a finishing strike of his own. The armored foe collapses, joining the other two before it. The others of the group miss and only one armored foe remains, Whitsell's opponent. Fortunately for Flynn and Deceidon, the remaining foe cannot seem to land any attacks this round, clearly confused by the attacks coming from two different sources.
The Archer guard, having missed his arrow shot this round, quickly puts away his bow and rushes towards Whitsell. "Sir! Your wound looks deep and needs immediate attention. May I help you take off your armor?"
Recap:
You guys win initiative and take down the third armored opponent, one remains. No damage is taken this turn.

Deceidon growls as he continues hacking away at the final opponent.

You have multiple ways in doing this. Which method will you take? A standard take off armor and bandage area or...onlyme wrote:Whitsell does what he can to bind his wound.

Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
Flynn is coming close to the 5 round marker with this one sword wound. As far as I know, he has not bandage it yet and has pressed on the attack.Dealing with open wounds and other injuries
When a character sustains and open wound, or a body part is fractured or crushed, first aid will need to be administered within 5 rounds of said injury. If an open wound is bandaged or if pressure is applied, the bleeding will stop. If it is not, then the character will lose 1 hitpoint every 3 rounds. Performing strenuous activities like lifting heavy objects or engaging in combat will reopen said wounds and will need to be treated again. If strenuous activity occurs and the wound is not treated, the character will lose 1 hitpoint per round of strenuous activity. All of the following may apply to fractured or crushed body parts as well.
Without the aid of magic, wounds will take 3 hours rest to start healing naturally. A full night's rest, or the equivalent of such (8 hours) will restore at least 1 hitpoint. Any constitution modifiers will add to this score after each full resting period.
Most of this information was based off of the Damage and Health section of my OSRIC guide. I applied my own numbers to this and situational conditions. Let me know if this sounds fair to everyone or if something doesn't make sense. Oh and just as reminder, remember the significance of magic if someone is tempted to use it. It is the stuff of miracles and demonic arts, even with the best of attentions, not everyone may readily accept its use.
Noted. Bonus experience will be given for sticking with the game world's cultural views.onlyme wrote:Of course, standard... who would ever think to use magical means in this world?

Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
Flynn noticed the floor beneath his shuffling feet becoming slick and realizes it's from his own blood.
"gah!" he complains, gripping his wound. "This is becoming bad. I need a moment." he begins a defensive retreat to bind the wound and whispers "My love, I need you."

Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
Flynn withdraws from the skirmish, parrying the enemy's attack along the way. He joins Whitsell and the archer guard as wounds are cleaned and bound with what limited supplies are available. Part of Whitsell's armor is shattered and will need some repair before it is serviceable again. Flynn wraps and binds his wound as best he can and prays that it did not get infected. Thoughts of Amberlynn come back as he starts to miss her company already.
Deceidon continues to wail upon the armored foe, not doing as much damage as he would like, but distracting it and preventing it from attacking his allies. The two swordsman accompanying Hal take the foes left and right and swing their blades in a similar fashion. It is Hal, who comes up behind the foe that manages to deal two solid hits to the armored opponent. The remaining enemy is effectively surrounded on all four of its sides.
Initiative was tied this round, but Flynn parried the attack, preventing any damage while retreating. Whitsell's wounds are being treated as well as Flynn's. Remember, any extra strenuous activity may reopen the wounds again.

Deceidon thrusts again but quite fails to get through the armor. He hopes the others more skilled.

For Rand and Elithil
----
Depending on how long this sequence takes to finish, the other group may finish their business in the castle, just in time to rejoin the others in the market square. For now, I will start up the execution sequence and go from there, in order to keep things moving and all that.

Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
Enemy wins initiative.
Deceidon begins to lunge forth again, but is quickly stopped by the enemy moving in for the first attack instead. All Deceidon can do is get out of the way, as the sword comes swinging down. He successfully dodges the attack, but misses his chance to strike the foe in the process. Hal too is taken aback by the sudden burst of speed from the foe and his first long sword swing misses. The two men under Hal's command, however, are able to both strike the armored opponent. This brings the foe down to one knee as its life force, or what ever it is that is keeping it anchored to this world, starts to fade. Hal takes advantage of this position and swings his long sword again. He deals even more damage to the opponent, but cannot seem to put it down all the way.
The last foe, legit, has only 2 hp left. My rolls for the npcs were awesome yet crappy at the same time, but in a good way.

Re: Chapter 6: Escape from the Prison World - Dark Beginning
Deceidon lunges at the faltering armored spirit. Every since he returned to his home world, Deceidon has felt out of sorts. Perhaps a side-effect of magic.
