Re: V. Town of Belhaim
"Sounds like you are right, Ciar. Kobolds from the quarry" says Sylvan, clearly impressed by his insight.
"I now favor heading to the quarry. Capture a kobold or two and try to find out what they found so interesting in that tower.
I do wonder if I could talk the group into waiting until tomorrow. Rest our bones, prepare the proper spells, you know."

Sparrow grins at another "day off" attempt by Sylvan.
Come on Syl! A quick look around won't hurt us that much will it?
For a nature lover, you sure like to stick around town a lot!

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
Sylvan looks a Sparrow with a thin-lipped frown. "Some of us have to do more than stare at footprints all day. I need to prepare the proper spells to help ensure the success of our group. Maybe if you all weren't so quick to run to your rooms at night we could plan the night before so I would have the right spells ready. Kassel, what environs are you prepared for?"

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
Ciar shakes his head at the idea of giving gold to a dwarf he doesn't know or some townsfolk he doesn't care about.
"If the town needs some coins, I know where there's a whole lot of coppers we can give them. And they can carry 'em, too."
Then he takes the sixth bag of coins, dumps it out on the table, and counts out 20 coins for himself. He stows the 120 coins in his pack and says, "Talkin' about plans wouldn't have mattered much last night, as I didn't think about the quarry until just a bit ago."
Then he looks at the newcomer and says, "As long as you don't have a hot head that gets us in trouble and then you bugger off without a word, you're welcome to join us, is my vote. You'd get a fair share, from here on out."

Finally, turning to the baroness, Ciar says, "I admit I don't know as much about the value of some stones as much as I probably should. What's the value of these gems, as you understand it?"

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
The baroness informs Ciar, and the rest of the group, that each stone would easily fetch 100 gold pieces, and points out the simple math that her new offer is double what she offered for news of the tower and Hunclay.

Sparrow follows Ciar's lead and takes his 116 gold coins. I guess we donate out of our own shares then? He says with a chuckle. He then looks at the gems carefully.
There is no doubt you are correct to worry about these nasty little creatures Madam Baroness.
You know, back on the islands we had never even heard of Kobolds. Then one day, we started seeing them around. Nobody knows how they came to be there but they kept multiplying in huge numbers. We had to exterminate hundreds of the little pests before they were under control.
They aren't dangerous in small numbers but once they gather together enough of their kind, they can cause some serious trouble. I can assure you that annihilation is the only solution once their numbers rise. I for one am thrilled at the prospect of ridding your lands of these destructive creatures and would be happy to take on this endeavor for you.

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
After the party agrees to take on another task for the baroness, she informs the group that the flooded quarry is located a quarter mile from
Belhaim. "To get there, you'll want to take 'Old Quarry Road,'" she says. "It is no longer used, and has probably become quite overgrown, but it will lead you to the quarry. I don't know where their lair is from there, just that that's where they're located."
"Is there anything else I can do for you?" she asks, before thanking the group and showing them where 'Old Quarry Road' is.

"Am I glad I found you fellas! This day is getting better and better!"
Grim claps Ciar on the back, a little too hard.
"Ill be glad to join ye. A quarry and a fight with kobolds and payment for the pleasure!"

Fulp looks around.
Uhh, folks. Do you think we have enough arrow shooters for a walk through kobald country? If anyone saw me at that Sandpoint festival, you know I cant hit the sea if firing from a boat.

"These mongrels are vicious and wily, but we can take them. They may be working for something or someone smarter and more deadly however, for they are not known for their smarts. Ancient enemies of the gnomish people's are they. Trap makers and slave takers. We would do well to be prepared." suggests the wizard sagely.
Kassal will beg his leave and agree to meet the group here when they are ready, arranging a time that suits all. He welcomes Grim on board and shrugs his shoulders as Ciar splits the coin without him. The gnome picks up the rest of his share and agrees to the Baroness' plan before making his excuses.

"Well, if there will be nothing else," Baroness Devy says, "I will take my leave."
"I wish you success. Please, report back to me once your task is completed."
---
I'll just need to know if the group has any other business to conduct it town, or if you're ready to move out again.

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
Sylvan appears troubled by the plan to head to the quarry. "Kobolds are many in number. The gnome and I haven't prepared spells for such an occasion. Why don't we explore the tower or manor today and head to the quarry tomorrow? None of us are great warriors, and facing foes in high numbers without the proper preparations seem foolish to me. I've seen many a trade caravan fall to bandits because of rushing forward foolishly."
"If we wait until tomorrow, I can prepare spells that can immobilize many foes at once, and I believe our friend Kassel can prepare spells to put many foes to sleep."

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
kassal shakes his head. "not every wizard knows that spell and I am one of them that does not."

Sparrow nods.
If you need different spells, we could check out the manner today instead if you want.

Ciar nods, "The kobolds can wait a day. We should check out the manor house. Maybe even go back and see where that tunnel might lead."

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
Before the baroness departs, Sylvan will ask her what she knows about the quarry area. "Is it barren? Is there foliage around? Do you know of any other settlements or creatures in the area?"
As indicated earlier, Sylvan would much prefer manor/tunnel exploration today.

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
Fulp doesnt say much in reply, as either place will eventually need exploring. He mentions needing to look about the town for some quick supplies, either way.

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
Once the gnome returns he agrees that finally finishing the tower catacombs seems like an apt use of the companies time. "Why not clear it of hostiles. Besides which, we may find that the tower and quarry are connected as we explore. Perhaps there are old miners in town that have a lay of the quarry, or perhaps the town council has some old plans we could view before we set off. Scouting it out before we enter could also prove valuable."
Did we ever discover why the goblins attacked the town? I can't recall..
