Would we know what is customary regarding burials in this land? ie would someone be honored by wearing their armor or dishonored by having it removed before burial?
I could see us taking it and returning it to the man's family and/or selling it even if no one wants it. But, if we expect it to show disrespect, then I would leave it on him.

Heh... You know I was just messin'.

though they are obviously fun to have, I have no problem with magical items being rare. Makes them more special.

As I recall, he was placed in the empty tomb along with his armor and weapons.

For this area, no. Pretty much every time I start a game, all characters will begin in a land foreign to them... and this game is no exception.
Your character will have to do what they would do (at least consider their alignment) and deal with any repercussions, if any.

Of course. I do tend to be very conservative when it comes to distributing magic items, but that doesn't mean I won't do it.

I plan on moving the game tonight.
I apologize for the delay, but I'm struggling with the loss of ten hours each week (the time I used to spend on the train) and am working to establish a new routine. Please bear with me during this transition period.
As for the group, I'm operating under the assumption that the only items taken were the gems (Ciar), candelabra (Sylvan), and the case and flask (Sparrow).
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

sorry guys, if anyone was hoping we would not alert them...
I figured risk/reward of telling them proactively versus them finding it after we left would be better...

Using my experience of watching lots of super realistic crime dramas, I would say they are probably the daughter and son in law of the recently deceased going to put fresh flowers on mamma's grave. oh and he is probably the sheriff and/or crime boss in the village. that is, if I had to guess...

Ahh, yes. Some of you may recognize the coastal town you're about to visit, and even some of the NPCs you may run into, but it was a really well developed town. Names and places may remain the same and be familiar, but expect the story to be different.
AleBelly wrote:"Yes, that name rings a bell with me too. I met a brave halfling by the name of Tavari who spoke of it. He talked of unstable footing in the area, if I recall. Perhaps you know him, Ciar?
Actually, Tavari was in my 'Resurface' game, but I used the town of Sandpoint in the abandoned game just prior to it. My first attempt at using (or over-using) the private sub-forums.

Eh, its probably that old bard's tale you are thinking of...
I see what you did there. Nice one.

Hey, no worries.
I'm actually glad there will be a few of you that aren't already familiar with Sandpoint. It's a pretty well-developed little city that will be easier for me to drop and use in this game instead of creating a brand new one from scratch. Since I don't have any formal plans for this game, I'll admit that there is a part of me that is tempted to (re-)introduce certain aspects of the game I started and stopped a while back...
We'll see.

Actually, upon further consideration, I'm thinking I actually
will do just that.
Do keep in mind, however, that you are
not bound to do or follow anything you're not interested in. If I introduce something that was part of my previous plan, and you're not interested in pursing it, so be it. I am more than willing to take this game wherever you'd like to go.

Joe (spanningtree) advised me that he will not be able to keep up with the pace of the game (and I was worried I was holding you up) and is dropping out, so Madrevin the elf elected to bypass Sandpoint completely and continue on his own private journey.
We're still sitting with six players, so I'm going to hold off on replacing him right away but there is a decent-sized wait list should the need for more players arise.

By the way, I should add that I will most likely be posting my updates at night now instead of in the morning like I did previously.
You should probably expect updates from me around this time -- 9:30pm (CST) -- most nights. Sometimes it might be earlier. Sometimes later. Hopefully, though, I'll be able to get in an update every day like I originally planned.
We'll see.

Sorry, the next update won't be until tomorrow.
Also, with there being a major US holiday on Thursday, I suspect things will slow down after tomorrow until next Monday, which is already the beginning of December.

While it may not seem like it publicly, the game has been pretty active over the last 24-48 hours in the private forums.
This past weekend, and probably for the next month, we're going to be running up against some missing players:
- hedgeknight has been out of town since last Wednesday (11/26) but should be back today.
- OGRE MAGE has been on vacation since last Thursday (11/27) and will be with limited access until next Sunday (12/07).
- Starbeard will be on vacation from the day after OGRE MAGE returns (12/08) for a month, returning on 01/08, with limited availability during that span.
I'm still not sure what affect this will have on the game, but I suspect it may cause some occasional delays. I hope to be able to update again later today.

Maybe the characters of the players on vacation can just stay in their room during that time, recovering from the flu.
Or if they need to be in the group, then always in the back and agreeing to what the rest of the party decides (not intentionally put in harm's way by the rest of the party).

Those are viable options.
I was also thinking, since there will be plenty of opportunities for people to do their own things during the festival, maybe, except for things that would affect everyone, we could continue to use the private forums as much as possible.
In fact, let's plan on that. I'll continue to post public updates as warranted, but we will use the private forums now, before the festival begins, and again if people wander off and do their own things once the festival does begin.
We'll kind of play things by ear, but will definitely keep the game moving.

Isn't that the exact thing that you didnt like from the original sandpoint game? the countless private forum, cat herding posts?
