Gyb doesn't have a torch (or lantern). He just heard Cobb say "I think we'd better light a torch".

Gyb waits at the corner, as far as he's willing to go in without light. He hears Loyn shout and calls back "Gyb can't hurry! Gyb can't see!"

Bugs shakes his head to clear out the cobwebs. "Here, Stobart. Use my longsword. Those bandits on the ledge are the first danger." Bugs will pull daggers and follow Loyn into the stinky cave. "I'm going after Loyn."

Back To The Caves
Going In!
Early Afternoon, Clearing


As Keya fires arrows into the rock wall, Rida drops his crossbow to equip his pole arm, trying to maneuver past Meinhardt who is clearly out of his element in hand-to-hand combat. The mage needs to climb up over a portion of the higher rock wall to get by his friends, and when he does, one of the bandits attempts pursuit, climbing much faster than the fleeing mage who is unskilled in such endeavors.

When the charging bandits arrive, they stab at Keya two at a time from the ledge, with one aiming low and the other aiming high. The half-elf is hit once with a deadly shortsword blow 10 dam crit, and barely able to keep his feet on the precarious ledge. As he ducks the second attack, Rida pokes at the men from behind Keya, hitting one square in the chest with his pole arm and manipulating him over the edge of the rock ledge, plummeting to the ground as he dies. This causes the one behind them to stop in his tracks again, pulling out a pair of daggers that he launches at Rida. One of them hits, but for limited damage. 2 dam

Two more bandits exit the cave behind the first group, rushing towards the action on the dangerous ledge. Stobart moves up towards the others while Haldric remains where he is.

Crobeus and Magdal move forward up the reeking hallway, towards the commotion in the darkness. They hold their weapons out in front of the oncoming footfalls, hoping that since they cant see anything, those coming their way can't see them either.

Loyn tries to do WAY too much at once :roll: :lol:, quickly yanking the rat room door closed while he pulls out a flask of lamp oil. He tosses the oil into the dark hallway, hearing the glass flask break upon the stone floor while he pulls out a torch next.

Bugs eventually walks up behind the cowering Gyb, who appears unwilling to go inside the dark cave any further.

Everyone hears Cobb sigh heavily in the darkness as he rummages through his pack, as if he might be questioning why he came here with this group. With a quick flick of his flint and steel, the woodsmen has a torch burning, suddenly revealing the 6 oncoming bandits in the hallway. The front pair of bandits seems to slip in the oil, tripping up and landing at the feet of Crobeus and Magdal while the other 4 members notice the oil at the last moment, skirting around the edges to close in on the invaders. Now that you can actually see, I will allow you two one free attack on the floundering bandits at your feet along with your normal actions.

"Heya Gyb. What's the news?" Bugs starts around the corner as the torch illuminates the situation. "Oh! Cmon Gyb, the party's that way!"

Bugs moves up beside Cobb. "What's the plan then? Is that oil? Light it up!"

Haldric looks around and sees that he is, now, all alone. It doesn't feel good out in the open and on a ledge and dark stinky cave in front of him. He backs up to be closer to his compatriots.

Crobeus - Human Paladin

When the torch blazes to life, the paladin's eyes grow big and a huge grin breaks on his face as he sees the bandit at his feet. He makes sure the bandit never gets up again. "Light 'em up!" he calls out to whoever lit the torch behind him.
Long Sword Attack (20): [1d20]=20; Damage sm/med: [1d8+1]=5+1=6; Damage large: [1d12+1]=3+1=4
Long Sword Attack (20): [1d20]=13; Damage sm/med: [1d8+1]=7+1=8; Damage large: [1d12+1]=12+1=13
If his free attack kills the bandit, he will attack whoever is closest, whether the other fallen bandit or one approaching around the oil.

Magdal sees her opportunity and strikes out at the fallen bandits with her rusty weapon. She will then turn to face the oncoming bandits swinging again at the newcomers.

Keya moves to be as high as he can to avoid being thrown down and strikes and attempts. to push the bandit off the ledge.

"No, Mr Bugs. Magdal is rescued. Party should be going that way!" Gyb points back towards the daylight. "Rescue time to try for others now."

Gyb holds up his javelin. "Gyb can't throw in here this. Bad for Magdal and Crobeus". He shrugs. "Somewhere else Gyb can do more". Then he turns and runs out of the exit.

OUTSIDE

Haldric moves closer to Stobart as the precarious battle on the ledge rages.

Meinhardt and one bandit hang tightly the angled stone wall directly above the others, attempting in vain to wrestle one another off the ledge. Feeling that he might be slightly overmatched in strength doesn't stop the spunky mage from trying anyway. "It's either you or me goin down, buddy. And it AINT gonna be ME!"

Rida and Keya almost decapitate each other as they swing their extremely long pole weapons around wildly, nearly hitting the pair on the rocks above them instead. their leader Catbird remains where he is, but the other pair of bandits rush in to back up their single file ranks. Keya is struck by the man's sword, though it doesn't penetrate his armor. The newly arrived pair pull out daggers and throw them into the fray, one of them hitting Rida hard enough to stick. 2 dam

Their leader makes a quick suggestion. "Dead or alive, you'll all be on our side eventually. So stop this stupidity and lay down your arms." He tries to pluck Meinhardt off the rock face with a dagger toss, but just misses the traitorous mage.

INSIDE

Now that they can actually see, Magdal and Crobeus slash the bandits at their feet. It takes both swings, but the Paladin is pleased to finish off their leader, causing them no more problems as he bleeds out on the stone floor. While Magdal wounds one of them, another steps up to each member of the front ranks.

Loyn lights his torch and tosses it into the oil slick on the floor. There is only one remaining bandit left inside the oils radius, but that man suffers a horrible death as he immolates in the sudden flash of flame. Those who just moved up can feel the flames licking at their backsides before they start to die down again.

Cobb pulls out a shortbow and knocks an arrow, but is hesitant to shoot into the backs of the fighters in front of him.

Gyb confuses Bugs on his way in as he moves back outside the cave to witness the precarious battle on the ledge.

Gyb leaves the cave and heads towards the melee on the ledge. He angles his movement downslope, attempting to get in position for a flanking shot at the bandits.

I doubt he'll get close enough in 1 round, but just in case:

Haldric keeps an eye on the cave behind them while repeatedly glancing over his shoulder to the ongoing melee. He frets that he can't reach Keya to heal him as he clearly is in a bad way...
