We might also need to restrain the elves in case they are commanded to attack us. Sleep could be useful for that.

I agree with the missile plan. Hopefully this will detach the ogres.

frobozz, Lanny precasting two magic missile spells is fine, but I am going to rule that only one can be discharged per round, as the were cast through two separate spells. I know it might not seem like a big deal to let him shoot both in the same round, but imagine what happens if he is higher in level, able to cast multiple magic missile spells that each conjure multiple arrows. He'd be like a fucking gatling gun.

No problem, I was not expecting to be able to fire more than one at a time, I just wanted to make sure that Lanny's spells would not be ruined if he got damaged by an ogre while trying to cast.

By the way, Lanny will start the attack with his longbow, not the Magic Missiles. He tells the party in advance that he will save the Magic Missiles for badly injured ogres, to try to finish them off before they can get in another attack.

Please note that in Round two onwards, any characters wishing to withdraw into the tunnel must make a Fighting Withdrawal as per page 134 in order to avoid being attacked from behind.

Oh, and if you don't want me to randomly determine which ogre you are targeting (either melee or ranged) please indicate your choice of target in your intention post (in spoilers).

@frobozz. I think I've ruled on this already -- can't find where, exactly -- but Lanny cannot both attack and fire a magic missile at the same time. I know it might not make much sense, but I think it makes the spell too powerful. There is also nothing in the text that addresses this issue.

Sorry, I was trying to say that Lanny is using his longbow to fire one of the magic "Traladaran" arrows (the ones that were recovered from N'srang's lair). Lanny still has two of those arrows in his quiver. He intends to use his Magic Missile spell arrows later, once the creatures have taken some more damage.

Ah. Okay, that makes more sense.

Could everyone focus on either Ogre 1 or 4? We need to take a couple of these guys down, not spread our damage across all four so they get extra rounds to attack us in return.

I declared an attack at ogre #2 because it seemed to me that he was not in direct melee, but in fact he is being attacked by Quinthos. If tk allows and says that Meagnor has a clear view for shooting, I will switch to ogre #4. If not, Meagnor may join the melee.

Sure, he can fire at ogre #4.

@TK: Is Quinthos the only one currently attacking ogre #2? Also, does Quinthos have any armor?

Unless I missed something, Quinthos is the only one engaging ogre #2 in melee. He is wearing leather armor. He also seems to have worked himself up into a very un-elflike berserker fury.

TK, I actually prefer you do not post links to your die rolls. Whenever you do, the page gets locked out to me by my work's web filter. I can access it through my blackberry, but it is almost impossible to read.

Huh. Well, that's interesting. Does anyone mind if I put all my rolls in a separate thread? Is it all links that lock you out, or just the ones to the die roller?

No problem by me or, if anyone objects, you could just put a separator and have them in normal text. Something like this:

_____
Here be dice rolls:
1d20=12

Just the links to the die roller so far. It actually caught me by surprise when it started happening, as I was never blocked on this site before. It took me a while to figure out what was doing it. Sometimes, I can manipulate the page by changing which posts are viewed (by changing the URL), but I can never view one with the die roller links until I get home.

Honestly, I am ok with just showing dice roll results in plain text (particularly for common things like hit and damage rolls, skill checks, and the like), although showing the full dice roll (example: '1d20+3=13' instead of just '13') is always helpful, because then we can doublecheck to make sure we got all the hit/damage bonuses we thought we should get. Actual links are nice for special rolls (hit point rolls, critical saving throws, etc.) but for combat, that just seems like a lot of work to me. Up to you though, if you want to keep doing them in a separate thread. It is appreciated either way.
