The Gam’A Zone 21D/82 (Evening)

Determined to investigate further, Max strides towards the door, contemplating a brief touch of its surface. However, before he can proceed, the others urge him to explore the tunnel on the opposite side. Reluctantly, Max follows, though his resolve to eventually unlock the ancient portal remains steadfast.

The 20-foot*wide primary passage extends northward into obscurity. The western side tunnel runs for fifty feet before being obstructed by ancient stone rubble. As you contemplate whether to investigate the debris or back out of the tunnel, a hissing noise emanates from the pile of rocks. Silvestri notices a trail of pink liquid oozing out from the blockage. Initially mistaking the sound for wind, he soon discerns that the fluid is bubbling and generating the noise.

The trickling tract advances towards you as if alive!

Silvestri

"Lookout! Back up!"

He gets ready to retreat, but activates his pyrokinetic powers at the globlet:

Pyrokinesis: [1d20+9]=16+9=25

Conscious of the limited space he generates an intense heat pulse around the creature:

Heat pulse:[3d6]=6

The Gam’A Zone 21D/82 (Evening)

Started by the mysterious liquid, Silvestri shouts a warning and then blasts the fluid tendril with a heat pulse from his psychic envelope. The blast evaporates the trickle and curbs the advance of the tendril, until a fruit pod from Denslow drops onto the wet path. The apple instantly shrivels and reconstitutes the pink weird, which now undulates across the floor and stabs at Silvestri!

The dense hydraulic spear pierces the psion’s leather armor before retracting back into the main body of fluid! (DMG 7)

Regretting not having examined the door in the alternate passage, Max becomes the first to sprint out of the tunnel, seeking sanctuary in the main corridor. He is followed by Kurot and Anton.

"It seems to be healed by absorbing things, everyone back up."

The psion backs up 10 feet and tries another fiery blast:

Kurot stays out of the way for now, seeing that projectiles only seem to help the...whatever it is...and not having any reason to believe that light would hurt it.

Silvestri withdraws a few paces and then unleashes another fiery blast! A sizeable portion of the aggressive liquid vaporizes, and the remaining bulk bubbles and retreats into the rubble.

Silvestri

The Psion exits the side-tunnel.

"With the collapsed tunnel we won't be going that wsy, are we going to continue up this main tunnel?"

Silvestri

"It's metal, I can try to open it, but it's a bit of a long shot."

I'd have to get a great roll and spend a little luck.

I'm fairly strong, suggests Denslow. I can help if you'd like.

The Gam’A Zone 21D/82 (Evening)

Running simultaneous computations like a Mentat from another universe, Silvestri the Psion deduces a numerical value required for manipulating and bypassing the ancient metal door. Although some of the terms and references are peculiar, he’s able to make out a path for success.

A combined strength of 35 pushing up and against the door along with a Mutation Roll of 28 will lift the corroded door 3 feet, enough for a piece of stout rubble to block it open. Needing to avoid a roll of 1 and prevent a system shock, 17 luck points added to the minimum roll of 2 (+9) will guarantee success. Up to 9 Plantient Luck points are available for loan, amounting to 18 usable Luck points. Of course, these points need not be spent until the Mutation Roll is made and the point deficit determined.

"Assuming the recent attempts to open this door were the efforts of Honfezgalapad, then I think it is worth trying to get through, to get ahead of him. What are the alternatives? We could try the other tunnels."

"Let's try getting through this door, if we can", says Kurot. "I'll help."

Kurot has a STR of 15, which, with Silvestri's 10 and Denslow's 14, is enough to let us make the attempt. Then we just need the roll to work out.
