(13) The Last Plank (Docks Tavern)

Kang

I am Kang and I am a wandering monk seeking enlightenment through my travels. I come from an ancient monastery far up into the mountains, a place where time has no meaning. I have journeyed far and I am a recent arrival here in Xambalaa.

The monk is slightly short with compact muscles and a bald head and serene, inscrutable features. He wears the trappings of a monk.

"Gods! This place attracts all sorts of folk. Hail and well met!" says the Keltish druid, raising her tankard to Akhellius and Kang.

Cormag steps up to the obvious Kelt in the group, inclines his head politely, and says Greetings my fellow Kelt!, I am recently down form the Gal Hills, looking to carve my name into the legends of our people! Would you be so kind as to share with me your name and the customs of this place? Perhaps you might be in need of a strong sword arm and bowman?

The druid frowns at Cormag and then her face softens. "The Gal Hills? That's my home! Who were your parents?"
She is very interested in her fellow Kelt, hoping she recognizes the man.
"Erm, I am Ceana Inghean Searcan, druid of Yoon'Deh. Even though I do not need a warrior to protect me, it is good to see a familiar face!"
Smiling, she walks toward the Last Plank, bowing her head in respect toward the two Kelt elders sitting outside. "May Yoon'Deh smile upon you, grandfathers."

I didn't go so far as to flesh out my family, other than the family name of Gunnach. Given that I was apprenticed out (twice!), I would place them as farmers or maybe small merchants.

Cormag replies Druid Ceana, I am pleased to make your acquaintance. My family are hardy folk, but our name is not famous.... at least yet! He smiles, and then tells about his youth, focusing on killing three raiders when he was 9 and yet untrained. He'll fill in the details of his youth, I just haven't created them.

Drest waits for an opening and then speaks up, "I am Drest of New Pictland. I have wandered much and worked as a scout mostly. As Xenos mentioned we have traveled together recently and faced some bad situations. I seek to live free, which I find to always be an issue if I spend to long in one place."

Over Ale's
Early Afternoon

After much discussion and even more drinking, the group of 12 decides to break into two smaller groups of 6 before they head out on their designated journeys. Kain wisely suggests they stick together as a larger company, agreeing to meet up again once both groups have returned.

Xenos seems pleased that Cyril was able to be talked into going along with them, rounding out their group a little better.

Tuurma and Cormag agree to join up with Kain and his group, who have already scouted out their next mission and could head that way anytime. The group going into the desert to search for something they have little information about, most importantly its destination, talks of stopping at the Bazaar to purchase more supplies.

He turns to Tuurma and says, "Perhaps I will accompany Xenos on this journey to the fortress instead of the Grotto. Will you join us as well, my dear? Before any of that I will need a solid evening of sleep tonight."

Puts her flute away, drinking the last of her ales. Having just arrived in the city she wouldn't naturally favour trekking out again.

She doesn't trust the 'Relites' and trickster God, having been the butt of his jests before so perhaps favours enquiring about the grotto even less.

"If you are trekking the desert to some abandoned and God forsaken fort, you need to go prepared.

Anyone know where we can buy a camel or pack mule?"

She counts a few silvers out. "Waterskins too, torches, lantern, oil flasks, tomahawk, preserves, lip gloss, soap, hair dye, ..."

When Taibhse approaches, Ceana notes the scars and burns. Her face softens a bit in pity, but she doesn't speak such so as not to embarrass or shame the young man. Thanking the Druid, he joins the party recognizing Cormag as well.

He will speak up when his turn comes up. "I'm a follower of Raven and Mordezzan, of this life and the next. I can heal and call on the powers. I came here to learn, and going out with you sounds like a chance to do jus that."

Maxon has stayed quiet, enjoying a small meal and a single mug of ale. I am Maxon, a warlock. I'm here to look for some friends of my old mentor.
Maxon is a darkly handsome Moor with the startling blue eyes of a Kelt.

Cormag enthusiastically greets Taibhse. In fact, he seems to do everything enthusiastically and eagerly. With Keltic comrades like you, who can call on the powers of nature and the beyond, there is nothing that we cannot do! Looking at Maxon, and this one can use magic as well as the sword! Truly, we will make a name for ourselves!

10 characters in one group and 2 in the other is going to make for some lopsided action.

12 characters in the same group will be just plain silly. (unless you plan on taking out the Satrap or something)

If we bump the Rel group in with the 4 person group, that would make 2 full groups of 6.

3 groups of 6, 4, and 2 is also an option, since that is how things look right now.

The sooner we get this resolved.......

The issue I see is that the group of 6 doesn't have a single healer type.

Again, there is no reason groups cant change out or swap members.

Nobody should ever feel pressured to stay in a group they started with.

If they are set on the Grotto, Taibhse is fine joining them, if that helps balance numbers.

Draining her mug and wiping foam from her upper lip, Ceana belches loudly and says, "The Mausoleum is a place in my dreams...a place of snake-men and shadows. I deem it a vile place and due for a cleansing. Kain, Maxon and I welcome all who will come and help us! There is surely glory to be had, tales to be told, and gold to be plundered...if the gods be good!"

"I would really prefer to gain more coin to equip ourselves better before heading into the desert. Maybe we can find some additional work by asking around before we head off."

"Supplies are a good idea for sure. I would also like to add a healer of some sort to our group as well."

"Camels are expensive, but we could club together for a mule, which is more reasonably priced. We are also short on ranged weapons, which could make a huge difference."
