Once the obelisk reaches the desired position, the eastern door opens without issue, revealing damp walls decorated with faded, barely discernible frescoes. The corridor stretches into darkness, with a side corridor to the south right at the edge of the light cast by Eronin's lantern. If those with
infravision take a look first, they see the walls, floor and ceiling as getting warmer beyond the side corridor.

Too small to peer over everyone's shoulders, waits in line for the dwarves to lead off down the corridor.
My own thoughts in the description would lean towards some kind of living fungus, slime, ooze that carpets the floor, ceiling and walls.

I don't mind going to check out the side corridor and listen at that next door as I scripted that action before so it makes sense to follow up on that.

Weezel will accompany Rooney to the side corridor and stand guard while he listens at the door, watching cautiously for any dungeon slimes or fungus where the dwarves had detected warmth.

Nym will follow along just behind Rooney, ready to back him up if need be.

Hondo will follow in marching order.

Harlan scratches his badly-scarred chin. Don't know why the corridor would get warmer- unless it's close to the surface, so the sun heats it. Proceed with care!
Harlan holds his lantern up to illuminate the frescoes- are they anything he would recognize? Stories from history, common myths, whatever?

Eronin follows along within the marching order, keeping his lantern held aloft so all can see.

Eronin's lantern lights a further 30' of the corridor, revealing none of the fungi or slimes theorized earlier, only plain walls. What you at the front notice is the distinct sound of rushing, bubbling water in the distance.
The door - an enormous slab of bronze, heavily ornamented with ocean waves - on the other hand betrays no noise from it's other side.
The frescoes on the wall are hard to make out due to their age, mostly generic people in a very old style.

"Sounds like water ahead. Should we check out the water of the door?"

How far above sea level are we?

I just remembered Hondo has a lantern. Should he light his so we don't have just a single lantern?

Not a bad idea to have a second lantern going if we have plenty of oil.

Yea, how much oil do we have? Hondo has 4 flasks.

Basalt spits more pipeweed juice. Go really careful if yer goin' on down the corridor. If what I hear is water, there might be a hot spring warming the walls- and hot springs can be enough to boil you like a chicken. It'd make for a really nasty booby trap.
He moves toward the bronze door, examining it by lantern light without touching it.

Will get to work on opening the heavy door, first trying any locks with his toolkit then trying to lever the door open more forcefully with a crowbar if lockpicking is unsuccessful.
Rooney picks locks vs 17% [1d100]=64
Crowbar it is then.

The halfling brings up the rear, checking the room left behind.
Steam, yes that might be it. A sauna? He thinks of the hot corridor. If orcs are inside they are probably bathing so out of armour and weaponless. Could time to spring an ambush.
