Yay! Just got the PDF for the new SWN Revised Deluxe offset print edition via KickStarter. Not sure when the actual book will get here. Super stoked!

Hansel looks down at his chest, and then up at Emile. He smiles.
Well, not quite dead yet.... and the bad guys never touched me...
Dang, that was a good hit!

That is known as the GO BIG or GO HOME move right there!
(and I just figured out why I thought I'd replied... it was because I responded in OOC...)

This might be the ambiance for GM's next post.

Sorry for the delay posting in the IC thread, I have a lot of irons in the fire ATM. Hope to post today.

Oooooh... that's tempting.
Fortunately, Other Dust does have rules for when you do something horrible kind of like this.

Sorry all, I had hoped to destroy the canister, but was really hoping it wouldn't explode quite that impressively.

Mortally wounded, but not dead yet.

there's the chance to save those of you that fell unconscious, especially since you have a magical healer.

Well, if Hansel hadn't shot the canister, and Petr had done with it what he planned... what would have happened? Nothing good, that's for sure. It was worth a try. (See how I avoided saying "It was worth a shot"?)

My thought exactly. No idea how to stop Petr, especially as he'd been shout several times and it didn't seem to matter, throw on a little mind control and..... I was hoping the that the blessed rifle would do the trick, but best as I could tell we need the equivalent of a turn undead...
...
...
Totally thought it was worth a shot!

Yikes! I'll update IC momentarily.
For OOC clarity first...
All rules for
Dying and Being Wounded are consolidated in our house rules thread from across the sources we're using. You can double-check everything there, since it is now relevant.
Second...
When you hit zero hit points, you have up to six rounds before you're dead-dead. You
do not have to be unconscious - you can still be actively part of roleplaying (including dramatic death scenes), you just can't do any useful actions.
A mortally-wounded creature at zero hit points will die in no more than six rounds. They may be unconscious, screaming for their mother, trying to press vital organs back into place, or begging for mercy, but they can perform no useful action and their fate is sealed if no immediate aid is provided. Creatures dropped by Heavy weapons, explosives, or other dramatic injury may be instantly killed at the GM’s discretion. Additional damage inflicted on a mortally-wounded target will always kill them immediately.
(Even though you ARE dying in an explosion, GM discretion is that it is not instantly killed.)
So, feel free to roleplay your drama while this plays out.

Echoing the comments of others, no reason to feel guilty! This is a really fun turn of events. Yes, you shot the obviously-labeled nuclear material tube, creating a Dirty Bomb right next to the nuclear reactor that the AI warned you not to damage further. But WOW, that's a cool moment in the movie!

I don't always give IC warnings for you to follow them... I give them so I don't feel guilty that you weren't warned and can give fun outcomes.
Stopping him from escaping with the nuclear macguffin was definitely a main goal, and you achieved it in a spectacular way. There's a lot more fun branches in the story that opened this way, and it is still feasible for you all to live. As noted above, this world is Other Dust-oriented, and they have rules for being in irradiated zones, so things like this are within scope for expectations of the setting.

Agreed, that was a great scene! The most dramatic one I've seen in a PBP game yet.
Rules clarification request: Taavi doesn't have the Heal skill or Heal focus. Does he have any chance of trying to stabilize the PCs? It doesn't look like he does. Even if he can find a medical kit on one of the PCs or in the house.

From the house rules (linked above):
Any character can attempt a Main Action to stabilize a dying character with either Int or Dex and the Heal skill. Difficulty is 10, 8 with a medical kit, or 6 with a lazarus patch (TL4). (House Rule: Medical kits per the book are available at TL3, with TL4 kits costing 10x and affecting recovery time per below. Laz Patches remain TL4, waive the penalty per-round.) After 10 minutes they return to 1 hit point and can resume action but any further damage kills them (no chance to stabilize). They require one week of bedrest before they shake off this fragility and can begin regaining additional hit points normally.
Since Taavi doesn't have the Heal skill, it applies a -1 modifier. He has Int +1 and Dex +2, so Dex/Heal is a roll of [2d6+1]. With no supplies, he has difficulty 10. There's medical kits and Laz Patches in the lab, but he would need to search a round to find a useable one and time is off the essence. (Roll WIS/Notice at [2d6+0] and on 6-7 you find a med kit, on 8-9 you find a Laz Patch, on a 10+ you find a med kit and 1d3 Laz Patches.)
...I'm posting now, and Taavi's actions will be important. Hold off on decisions until I post, then decide what's next for him.

Báleygr Gangleri having entered the lab just before the KABOOM would've been thrown - and since the walls are cement, i figured being unconscious makes sense. IF he's woken up, can he cast healing?

So, I wracked my brain and looked for loopholes every way I could.
Only magic/psionic healing gets you up next round, allowing you to return to an ongoing scene. So, the only one who can get PCs back into the fight is Balygyr.
Mundane healing (heal skill/Healer focus/medicine) is more effective, but takes so much time you end the scene. Stabilizing wakes up after 10 minutes. Laz patches/Lift stims are five minutes. Etc. There's no option that I see that allows you to return to a fight.
So, with Báleygr knocked out, the options are limited.
In the current scene, Nora has stabilized Báleygr and given him drugs so that he will have him at full hp in five minutes. He can be conscious and roleplaying, but he can't do useful actions (like spells) for that five minutes.

I gotta admit the scene that I was looking for was "walks in slow mo with the explosion in the background" more than the "explosion throws hero into a wall, fade to black!"
