Avastan Planning & OOC
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
We may be at the mop up stage, not really worth a map unless someone wants to do it. This is a major transition time, and Frank will get run ragged. Still, just a bullet list of tasks.
Providing medical and taking prisoners would be good. The API didn't seem to "fight dirty" or break whatever might be shared as "laws of warfare". If they surrender, then we're morally, if not legally, bound to help. It also makes SEMC look good and might help if there are those worth recruiting.

Agreed, we are the slightly ethical mercenary company, so we ought to help them and we need more good people.
That's why I think it's worth trying to find their current surviving ranking officer the vehicles to the north of the HQ so we can have an official surrender. Additionally, perhaps we need to find a 'friendly' enemy officer down amongst the troops (?) who wants to officially surrender who might help us find who's now in charge.
Then we can start sorting through them. Of course we need out two seriously wounded looked after and send through the autodoc first.
I just wanted to ensure we move units around as necessary and make sure we got some cover for all areas, so we don't have the same issue to the east we did in the fight.

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
I don't anticipate a need for a tactical map and folk will no doubt transit about while "policing up" the berms.
I still owe Jakob a post for the current combat round.
Likewise for Jess although in fairness she is now completely unopposed so could just declare actions as she sees fit.

Is our ambulance un-tasked? It should go to aid Beau and Love, it's what we pay them for.
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
It should be doing ambulancely things.
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
I've posted about Jakob picking up the API officers and accepting their surrender. (he seemed t be the one who has immediate grav transport to get there)
Then I was thinking that maybe Frank should head over for this, or is the usual procedure that Jakob brings them to Frank?

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
Best practice is that Jakob takes control of the prisoners but Frank accepts their surrender. That both protects Frank and impresses on the prisoner leader that he/she is surrendering to someone of significance. Once their egos are inflated a little then things go easier.shaidar wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:07 am I've posted about Jakob picking up the API officers and accepting their surrender. There's also the point that Jakob is still fully operational given enemy hits and various bits of gore dripping off his armor. Surrendering to Frank is probably seen as a safer bet.
In that we are manpower limited, Jakob containing and Frank coming over is probably best.
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
That makes sense.
With a chunk of our transports busy/assigned, Frank can pop over via grav-belt. Makes the point he might be a Colonel, buts he's not the sit behind the desk type. Looks better than a grav sled at least. Although we might need something to transport them after.

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
They can walk, and Jakob's team can walk with them. We need the transports for medevac and probably Kit on standby as an RRF in case someone changes their mind.
Working on the IC post now.

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
The two IFVs still operational are on standby. One, or both, are available for transport/escort.
Depending on how the veterinary work is going Jess and/or Freya may be available too.

Should have Jess' post up tonight pending interference from the Heat - typing in my pith helmet is distracting!

Well, duh...I read the Jakob post from Tiglath and then my brain forgot to respond. Working on it shortly.
Hope you blokes are doing okay in the heat. It's 110 degrees (F) here, but we're set up for it. Still, the lowest "daily high" for the next seven days is 102.

It's over 40 degrees (C) here: An all time record. And the humidity is now quite high. Definitely sticky. We aren't really set up for anything over 25 or under 0 - so this is causing panic as if the rest of the world has never seen this kind of thing, ever, either.Leitz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 8:55 pm Well, duh...I read the Jakob post from Tiglath and then my brain forgot to respond.
