Adventure Section 1.0
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
With the likelihood of doze grenades coming into play, Borble makes sure to buy a "gas mask," which for someone who breathes through its skin is... complicated.
He also grabs a flashlight, sungoggles and a toxi-rad gauge, all of which he clips to his envirokit.

Thomas smiles sheepishly and says to Storyck; "They're easily concealable and can be a nasty surprise."

Once Lloyd has finished with his purchases, he heads over to the shuttle landing field.
((OOC: I will increase Lloyd’s DEX by 2 points. I’ll send you an updated character sheet to reflect that))

When Storyck (Rick) sees Borble buying a gas mask, the big human says, "That be smart thinking, Borble. I get one too."pdunwin wrote:With the likelihood of doze grenades coming into play, Borble makes sure to buy a "gas mask," which for someone who breathes through its skin is... complicated.

Rick uses almost half of his remaining funds to add a gas mask to his adventuring equipment, placing it carefully in his backpack.

Okay, if nobody has anything else to do, we will move on to the next segment of the adventure. Let me know.

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Okay, everyone arrives at landing pad Eta 1 and sees Garret standing there waiting next to a shuttle. The shuttle has Garret Mining Inc on the side and beneath the cockpit, you see the name 'Busty Laischa'. Garret sees you and points to the shuttle and says, "Welcome people. Please get aboard and strap in. We launch in 5 minutes!" Garret moves to the launch scaffolding, climbs up and enters the shuttle. The rest of you follow suit and get strapped in. Within a few minutes, you feel the shuttles engines kick in and you are pressed into your seats as the shuttle climbs through the atmosphere. In 10 minutes, you feel the shuttle decelerate and are soon in free fall. Looking out the windows, you see you are approaching another ship, also a Garret Mining vessel. Your shuttle docks with a loud clang. Garret unstraps and floats to the hatch and moves through. Inside the hatch, you see a man with the shoulder boards of a captain standing there. He looks shocked and says, "Mister Garret! Nobody said you were coming on this trip!"
Garret glares at him and responds, "When do I need permission to go somewhere on my own property, Captain? We are hitching a ride with you for your next pick up run to the mining facilities. Also, you will not tell anyone we are on board! Is that clear, Captain?"
The captain swallows hard and says, "Yes sir."
Garret turns to you and gestures to the inside, "Come on in. It is an 8 hour flight, so get some rest, relax. This won't be a pleasure cruise, but it's the best I can do on such short notice."

In preparation for freefall, Borble absorbs his locomotive limbs and extrudes two more manipulative limbs, the better to push, catch and grab in microgravity.
Then he fishes out a pack of static-grip, low-grav playing cards (which some folks also use for fortune telling). "Who's up for a few rounds of something? I won't suggest anything that involves trying to bluff a dralasite."

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Storyck (Rick) is wowed by the experience. He has never been off planet before. His stomach flips a bit as the shuttle takes off but quickly settles down. Once the shuttle docks with the ship, he scrambles through and looks around. It certainly be no luxury liner, he says to himself but wow. He be on a spaceship!
Rick shakes his head in negation to Borble's offer of cards and instead pokes his head here and there to take in the experience of being on a spaceship.

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Seating himself near Borble, Thomas says: "I'll play, dealer's choice, what do you suggest?"
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Thomas, also mindful of the details of the ship turns to Garret while Borble is dealing and asks: " Is it often that you accompany your ships to the mine?"
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
"My favorite game is Tripartite, but that requires three manipulators, which for everyone but dralasites and some of the cleverer yazirians means some rather involved augmentation. So, let's play Roustabout."
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
After looking around the ship a little, Rick seeks out Garret and asks, "Where be this mine? Is it on the other planet, moon, asteroid? We be needing spacesuits or anything?"
Re: Adventure Section 1.0
T'prin takes note of the agressive tone of mr.Garrett when responding to the captain.
"i'm going to take a look around, zero g dosen't sit well with me it helps to move about a bit."
(ooc going to see if i can find any crew members that might answer some questions)

Thomas to Borble; "Roustabout is fine deal them out." All the while Thomas keeps one eye and one ear on Mr. Garret

Re: Adventure Section 1.0
Garret says, "The mine is on Pale in this system, so it is less than a day trip there." Soon, the ship departs from New Pale and begins it's trip to Pale. The captain says that most of the trip will be in freefall and he apologizes for the inconvenience. As you play cards, or rest, the ship makes it's trip. After nearly 8 hours, the captain floats back and says, "Mister Garret, we are nearly in orbit. You can depart anytime you want."
Garret motions to the group to get back on the shuttle. Soon, everyone is strapped in again and the pilot launches from the ship. You can hear him calling for a flight trajectory for someplace called Thornton Town. You hear him acknowledge the input and feel yourselves pushed into your seats as the shuttle accelerates. In a few minutes, you feel the shuttle vibrating as it begins to hit the outer atmosphere and sharply descends. After about 5 minutes, the shuttle noses up and begins landing. After a minute, there is a gentle thud as it touches down. Everyone begins unstrapping and moving to the hatch. The Humans and Yazirians feel their ears pop as the air pressure is equalized. Garret opens the hatch and watches a ladder being moved into place. Garret motions for you to follow. As you step out, you notice that gravity is a lot lighter here. New Pale has 1.4 gravities where Pale has only .9 gees. You look around the landscape and see a smallish town nearby consisting of several hundred buildings and homes. The sun appears to be fairly low on the horizon. Garret takes note and says, "Well, looks like we made it at the end of the work day. Follow me."
He leads you toward a building that is uniformly square and 5 stories tall. When you get close, you see the name 'Blinding Nova Hotel' emblazoned on the front. Following Garret inside, he motions for you to stay put. He walks up to the concierge and speaks with him for about 5 minutes before returning to the group. He hands each one of you a room key. "Here are your rooms for the night. This is on me, so don't worry about the cost. I guess we will start in the morning and go to the mine site to find out what the hell is going on." He heads to the elevator and enters. When you go to your rooms on the 4th floor, you enter a decent sized room. The main part of the room is a small office with a desk, chair, a computer terminal, and a vidscreen for entertainment. The next part is a mini-kitchen containing a cooler (refrigerator), stove, sink, and dining table. The last part is the sleeping quarters which has a queen sized bed (uber king for Dralasites), night stand with a comm unit and directory with service numbers. Also in here is a door leading to the refresher which is omni-race capable and has the options for either sonic or water showers. A blinking notice says the kitchen is open at all hours.
