A versus test for Manipulator.
4D and I get to reroll dice (due to my wise) and explode 6's.

I'm wondering if I can draw on help from:
Thag (haggler)
Allric (elixer-wise (protected) or alchemist)
Berry (healer or persuader)

Thanks. :)

Edit: how many Fate can be spent to "reroll a single die related to" his wise? Just one, or could I do multiple dice that way?

I thought of that, but I had the impression she was creating a draught/potion, not a police. So I thought healer might have a wider scope. Ludanto can correct me if I'm wrong though.

Persuader can help. The others don't apply.

I have spent 5 Fate and 7 Persona now. 2 more Fate and Rabon levels again, but I only have one more Fate until after this session. Can he possibly advance again during this Town phase?

I would think not, since leveling up occurs at a specific point of the town phase, which we have already passed.

The window ended up being worth 2 Wealth, but as salvage, that rounds down to zero. :(
Just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page here. "Wealth 2" would imply 2D cash value. (Seems fair, about the same as a sack of gold.)

The "round down" thing is about the Ob to acquire. If we wanted a helmet, cloak, two flasks of oil, a utility hammer, or stakes and a mallet, that's Ob 2. Trying to sell them used then has no resale value. If you're saying the work of art is equivalent to buying a hammer, then your statement about rounding down is correct.

Since Rabon has appraisal-wise and called on it to pick a window of value, I think it is more fair to call it a Treasure and say it is 2D cash, not Ob2 purchase.

(I hope!)

It's a bit of a retcon, and I don't know if Rabon specifically targeted the most expensive thing he could find, but it makes sense, and he already went through all of the trouble of digging it out and bringing it back, so sure. 2D treasure it is (this time). Of course then it's not salvage.

Agreed. That was the argument above: viewtopic.php?f=519&t=7212&start=100#p355185

Thanks, I appreciate the 2D value.

I appreciate that as well, though I don't think it is a stretch. Here was my stated intention to "...see if there are any small sections that might be worth taking out and selling - images of dwarfs at work, fancily crafted items or runic writing in the glass... art is worth money, and old art is worth even more."

Rabon: 1
Berry: 0
Existing Cash:
- Thag: no cash
- Allric: 1D heirloom
- Berry: 2D Cash
- Rabon: 1D heirloom and 2D Cash
Loot division:
Thag:
Already has a sword on belt and quiver on shoulder. He takes Rabon's dagger and puts it in his other belt slot. He keeps the crossbow (2 hands) and buys quarrels to fill the quiver.
Loot:
- Dwarven Crossbow can be sold in the Market (Carry 2, 1D Cash) [Ob 4 resource test sells as 1D cash.]

Rabon:
- Dwarven Handaxe named "Skyfall" (Carry 1) [No intrinsic value: Value as magic item unknown]

Berry:
- an unusually large red gem, cut like a teardrop and bearing some sort of runic inscription [Plot item]
- Ring of Tarog: A large ring with a round red stone (Wear 1) [Value unknown]
- old book with scribbling about an evil dwarf god (Carry 1, 2D Cash)
- Dwarven Shield (Carry 1, no cash value) [Ob 1 resource test, can't sell it]
- scroll of "Sanctuary of the Lord of Shields" (pack 1)

Allric
- scroll of Wisdom of the Sages (pack 1) [Value unknown]
Current cash to distribute:
2D cash (two bags of silver, 1 slot each) - from mushroom sales
1D cash (1 bag of copper, 2 slots)
3D cash (sack of gems, 1 slot)
2D cash (two bags of silver, 1 slot each) - from sale of stained glass
7D cash (in silver or copper) - from an intricately crafted silver hammer, bearing an engraved image on the head

Can't Sell:
- A large, gilded, gem-encrusted book (pack 2) [ value unknown]

Additional sales:
- an invigorating potion (cures Exhaustion) (pack 1) [Value unknown]
- an invigorating potion (cures Exhaustion) (pack 1) [Value unknown]
- a calming potion (cures Anger) (pack 1) [Value unknown]
- Dwarven Helm (Carry 1, no cash value by itself)

Proposal to Ludanto:
- Invigorating potions are Ob4 to acquire (make), so reasonably should be able to be sold for 1D.
- The helm is Ob2 to acquire. Thag's haggling roll doubles the value of a salvage item. If that doubles to Ob4, it is sold for 1D cash. (Alternatively, if Ob2 is 0 value, 0x2 = 0, and we just throw it away. )

Using the Haggle results:
- If Ludanto lets us double the value of the helmet, great. If not, the roll is only useful if we are selling something Ob4 or higher. So, maybe Allric sells his fancy mirror and gets 2D cash instead of 1D cash for it.
- Allric gets double the items from one purchase. I can purchase either lamp oil (getting 4 flasks instead of 2) or preserved rations (getting 6 meals instead of 3). I suggest the lamp oil, as we all have waterskins and Thag can hunt for us when we leave town. Thoughts?

- So, Allric needs to buy the lamp oil to use the haggling check.
- Thag needs crossbow quarrels.
- Rabon needs to make a purchase of an item, then also pass the lifestyle test (perhaps he can buy the quarrels)

Ludanto: We need to know the Obstacle to get quarrels when we already have a crossbow. (Ob1? Ob2?)

We have 15D cash to distribute. Everyone got a valuable/magical item except for Allric. Berry is rather loaded with clerical goods and has thee two books for later. Since Allric didn't get anything from the actual adventure (he made the scroll himself), I'd like to have him keep the 3D pouch of gems, which is the most compact treasure.

- Preserve the sack of gems (Allric, 3D)
- Purchase lamp oil (3D cash, +1D fresh, Ob2)
- Buy quarrels (3D cash, +1D fresh, use wise, Ob?)
- Thag, Rabon, and Allric get 2D cash each to pass enhanced lifestyle tests (6D total)

Thoughts?

Sounds fair to me.

One thing about TB is that loot feels much more communal because (a) money is so abstract, and (b) we rely so much in one another to survive.

Sounds good. I would like to try to dig up some leads on that hut we found, and see if there is any connection to the rumors of missing children.

It would be a Circles test (Circles 4), and reading about it I might get a +1D - we have a couple of clues (rumors plus the location of the hut). It would raise my Lifestyle by +1 though, and I think I can stay at the Stables since I have no conditions I need to fix, so I think I can start Fresh.

So I think my total Lifestyle cost would be 2D + whatever I need for crossbow bolts +1D for a whip.

I was wondering if I should see if a guild needs some work, but I'm not sure if the math works out. It adds +1 to the Lifestyle cost, but only pays one bag of silver (i.e. 1D) so there is only a 50% chance of just breaking even.

I already have the circles roll done for a town magic user. Let's see what he tells us about the Hut?

If that doesn't do it, it might be easier for you to use Digging for Leads?

That's what I intended, digging for leads. But it will increase my Lifestyle cost.
