Goblins? sneers
Dorvar.
Let me tell you about goblins. We recently encountered a group of goblins that demanded the rest of the party turn me over to them so they could take me back to whatever cesspool they crawled out of as a sacrifice to their king or god or what have you. This stalwart crew I travel with refused, even to the point of almost costing Olympia her life, and she had only just met me. With the aid of Wendall's sleep spell and some deception on our part, we were able to kill them all, but we almost didn't make it out alive. So, while we may not be actively seeking them, we tend to travel where they find us. I plan on going back to the scene of that battle and placing the heads of those goblins on spikes, as a warning to the rest of the vermin, letting them know what they can expect if their kind doesn't leave the region. I'll take the Duke's 1000 gold, or my share of it anyway, if we earn it, but slaughtering goblins is now personal.

Varas nods solemnly at the dwarf's words, sipping from his tankard.

You know....Im not really sure. I suppose it is a fair price. How long will it take do you think?
Hold on there stretch...... before you go off getting wasted again......If Melvin here can read these spells and tell me what they are, we could set out sooner. I just need to know how long it will take is all. And I'm up for doing anything that will bring in some more gold!

Valorei walks into the tavern, looking around the opening area with a moment of mild amusement.
He approaches the bar, asking the barkeep, "Hello! It seems I am quite new here and am looking for some information, if you'd be so kind?" He flips a gold coin onto the table, letting it sit in front of him, "I am looking for work, or rather, interesting locations that have yet to be pilfered, know of any adventuring groups?"

Melvin returns the spell book. "When your timeline catches up with mine, I can inscribe any of these into a spellbook for 10 gold per spell level plus 50 gold pieces for materials, also per spell level. The cost of a blank spell book is not included. I could also inscribe the spells into scrolls for 25 gold pieces plus 75 for the cost of materials, if you do not want to buy a new spell book or leave your current book with me. If none of these options interest you, I would be willing to engage in a trade of inscription services for spells, or possibly even a spell trade. I'm currently at March 27.
"Good luck in your travels," he says.

9 gp deducted
Thank you my good man. I like your style sir. Tell me, would you be interested in buying the book outright?

"Certainly!" says Melvin. "I don't have as much gold as this is worth, however. Might you be interested in a combination of gold and services? Leave the book with me when you catch up to my timeline, and I will inscribe the spell of your choice in a spellbook or scroll. I'd be happy to transcribe the other spells as I obtain funds necessary to purchase the necessary materials."

Splendid!
If you wish, meet me here the day before the festival and we can work out a deal.
I think you were on the 27th? The 30th should work for both of us unless you weren't planning on sticking around.

"I look forward to it," replies Melvin.
Yup, he's at the 27th, so the 30th is fine.

Wendall tries to roust his party.
Put down the mugs and pick up your packs! We're heading out in the morning!
Or does The Wendall have to become The Leader of this motley band from here on out? he says jokingly.

Can't leave until I get my goblin head impaling sticks, mutters Dorvar.

When does Valorei join?
Varas is confused. "Wait, so where are we going? That tree? No goblins over there or Mr. M., but if that's where you want to go, fine with me. Let's just make sure we're back before Harrowing. By the way, where the hell is Olympia?"

Olympia stands right behind Varas. "Look up," she tells the group, beaming widely. "Let's go!"

"Nice try, lady, but you're just one of the many shorter than I am." Varas winks. "Dorvar needs to wait on some sticks so he can make goblin kebabs or something like that. I guess we're leaving tomorrow."
Varas scans the tavern to see if there are other willing adventurers.

Bend down here so I can feel your forehead. Are you hallucinating?
Who said anything about that weird tree thingy? I'm not going near that thing again without a lot of oil and a torch!
Wendall does that weird creepy grin thing again.
