Zix takes aim at the rogue dummy. Then suddenly from behind one of the women steps a little man - a halfling - with a short bow aimed at Zix! The two let loose arrows. The elf's flies first and true, striking the dummy in the heart. The halfling's arrow is a few inches off the mark.

The halfling looks at the hit dummy, curses, and exits through a secret door in the back of the gallery. From her window, Zix sees that the corridor she is in turns south for 10' then west.

Zix considers chasing the annoying little halfling but decides she'd better be on her way. She makes a mental note to stick a dagger in his back if she ever sees him again. She picks up the two remaining arrows and put them in her quiver, and continues south. Checking for traps along the way..

..successfully!

The south passage is free of danger. The corridor turns west for 40' then south. A torch mid-way down the corridor lights the way.

Zix moves cautiously down the west corridor searching for traps. Halfway down the hallway she hears "Get by if you can!" and then an arrow fires out from an arrow slit at the end of the hallway.

Zix darts left, dodging the arrow. She is 20' from the end of the corridor where it turns south. At which point, the thief believes, the archer can't hit him.

Zix hastily retreats around the corner from whence she came and yells, "Halfing? Is that you!?!?"

Zix bolts down the hallway, weaving left and right. Just as she nears the south bend, another arrow hits the elf in the shoulder (5 HP damage.) She then rounds the corner to safety.

The torch-lit south corridor extends 30', ending in a shaft down. Halfway down the corridor in the east wall is a strange door:

Archer on zix [1d20] = 12, dam [1d6] = 5 hit for 5

Zix curses the archer and swears to avenge herself if she ever gets her hands on him. She snaps off the arrow and dresses her wound with belladonna. Then checks the door for traps..
..unsuccessfully.

Zix curses the door and is mystified by this sorcery. Perhaps it might be sabotaged!
Zix attempts to disarm the zapper.

Zix Makes a Thief Skill Check: [1d100] = 58 ... without much success. :-(

Zix tries to disarm the door but is shocked again (2 HP.) In the process, the elf does see that each letter can be pressed inward.

Zix puts on her thick leather gloves so as not to actually touch the door and tries pressing the letter "I" in "PROVIDE"

While Zix is not shocked through the thick glove, the pressed "I" has no effect.

Puzzled, but relieved to have found some protection, Zix will press the 'O' in "ONLY."

The "S" sinks into the door, turning the word "curse" into "cure" and solving the riddle. The door clicks open to reveal an alcove with two potions on a shelf. One has a red cork topper, the other a blue.

Zix checks the alcove for traps..
..and finds nothing. She thinks back on the guild lieutenant's advice and grabs the blue potion in her gauntlet covered hands.

I'm confused. Which way does the hallway lead? Do you allow characters to sip potions to get a hint of what they do?
