Sweet! I was hoping someone would do that. The wise old worrywart Lanny was not going within 10 feet of that thing! ;)

Nothing happens.

Nice try, Innana! ;)

Party Caller: So it looks like we have three posts to continue on (Marodin, Lanny, Rhys), and three posts indicating general agreement with the plan and/or following the rest of the group (Tratiln, Innana, Drudsa). Since no one has disagreed with Lanny's choice of direction, the party will proceed through the western door. SOP for dungeon doors in effect (ie. listening, checking for stuck/locked/barred, searching for traps, etc).

The western door opens without incident, revealing a corridor that branches off to both north and south after ten feet. The corridor also continues west for another ten feet before dead-ending at a door. The northern passagr runs for thirty feet the makes a turn west; the southern corridor runs for thirty feet before branching both east and west in addition to continuing south.

Rhys the Traveler

Rhys looks at all the options before them and mumbles, "... just keep sticking to the left..."

Marodin thinks the party should continue west and open the door.

ya, Innana would not leave the room without touching the crystal.
Innana sees that nothing came from her impulsiveness, and slowly backs out of the room, and replaces the dagger on her left forearm. Innana leaves the room to follow the group through the rest of the castle.

Lanny the elf

Lanny shakes his head in amazement.

“Does this basement level ever end? It is like a maze down here… I am glad we are mapping, otherwise I fear we would become lost.”

Lanny looks down the hallways to the north and south.

“Rhys, if you will examine this door for us, I will walk to the light’s edge to both the north and the south to see if I can detect the areas beyond the light with my heatvision. Then I will return and report and we can make an informed decision about how to proceed. There are just too many choices at the moment…”

The invisible Lanny starts down the hallway to the north, his sword drawn and still visible by the light of his companions. When he reaches the light’s edge, he peers around the corner to the west and focuses in with his heatvision.
Infravision (60'). Assuming that he sees no creatures or imminent threats, he will do the same thing down the hallway to the south, stopping 30’ feet away from the group at the light's edge and peering into the darkness to the east, west, and south before returning and reporting to the group.

Rhys the traveler

Rhys checks the door.

Rhys examines the door in the western corridor. It appears to be both unlocked and untrapped. Whilst this is occurring Lanny sneaks down the northern passage. It turns west and continues on for some indeterminate distance. About thirty feet down the passageway he sees a door set into the northern wall. Based on his mapping, this door should connect with the room that contained the other stairwell and the statue of the wizard.

He then turns and investigates the southern passage. At the intersect he is able to see that the southern hallway continues for forty feet before terminating in a door; the western hallway runs as far as he can see, and the eastern hallway runs for thirty feet before jogging south.

Lanny the elf

Lanny returns to the group and reports his findings.

"If no one minds, before we go further, I would like to investigate to see if that door to the north connects back to the room with the wizard statue. I believe it does... but I would like to confirm it in case we need another route of escape. My mapping may be a little bit off the mark..."

Lanny shows the scribbled map to the party.

"By the way, does anyone have any popcorn? If so, perhaps we can leave a trail of popcorn in case we get lost. A trail of popcorn may be more reliable than my map at this point..."
Lol, yeah, I think I goofed up on the map by trying to superimpose the first floor. If we can see how that door to the north reconnects with the wizard statue room, I can re-do and re-center the map one more time, and then it should be accurate going forward.

Rhys the Traveler

"I agree, knowing our surroundings is paramount. Let's confirm the other door leads to the room with the statue and the stairs and then come back to this one."

Thordin the dwarf agrees to check the door and verify our location. Mumbles something about "Sensibilities, and all that"

He will also attempt to determine their approx depth underground and whether any of the passages sloped imperceptibly during their ferreting.

FYI, frobozz, I mispoke. My map was in the car this morning and it was cold and I was lazy; there is in fact a room between the hallway and the statue room. My oopsie. I'll post an update in a little while.

Hopefully it's a small, unguarded treasure room with a rack of magical swords sitting against one wall!

Is it too much to ask for just one measly warhammer in there?

Rhys examines the door and finds no traps. He presses his ear against the wood but hears nothing. He then opens the door boldly. The corridor continues for ten feet past the door before opening up into a room of indeterminate size; it appears, however, to only be twenty feet deep. There is another short corridor and door directly opposite from where the adventurers stand. The room is lit by weird, dancing reddish light; voices can be heard emanating from a portion of the room that cannot be seen from where the adventurers stand. The language is deep and guttural, and Thordin recognizes it as a dwarfish dialect of some sort, although not one that he is familiar with.

Lanny the elf

Hearing the dwarven voices, Lanny puts a finger to his lips to indicate silence. He pauses for a few seconds to just listen quietly.
Hear Noise: 1-2 on 1d6 (demi-humans), 1 on 1d6 (humans)

Do these voices sound in any way disembodied or etheral? Are there any other sounds accompanying the voices that are heard by anyone else in the group? Also, is the room size indeterminate because of the reddish haze?
