Freda is going to specifically target any of the orcs with crossbows that are still standing. She will use her magical arrows for this task.

Here are her first attack rolls. If she's not easily able to jump down and fire, then she will just jump down the first round and fire properly the second...

To Hit, Arrow+2 (THAC0 14) [1d20+5] = 6+5 = 11 (Hits AC3)
Damage, Arrow+2 [1d6+4] = 3+4 = 7

To Hit, Arrow+2 (THAC0 14) [1d20+5] = 4+5 = 9 (Hits AC5)
Damage, Arrow+2 [1d6+4] = 5+4 = 9

To Hit, Arrow+2 (THAC0 14) [1d20+5] = 19+5 = 24
Damage, Arrow+2 [1d6+4] = 1+4 = 5

I will be hopping down, and hitting anything that is still standing after the spells such.

With a woop!

[1d20] = 15 +4 = 19

[1d20] = 5 +4 = 9

[1d4] = 4+5

[1d4] = 3+5

Eljay grips her spear a little tighter in anticipation of the battle. Making sure her holy symbol is in easy reach, she takes her place in the order and rushes the accountant when the time comes.

[1d10] = 1 init [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13 to hit [1d6] = 4 damage

OOC: we're using OSRIC rules, Nuke, so init is a d6 (and we want high). :)

Day 1– In the complex – 11:30 a
The Slave Pits

.

Kayen casts invisibility on Blodgett who disappears and, everyone assumes, heads out toward the accountant.

Then folks, after Phanstern give the freed slaves another quiet “hush”, start to move around. Phanstern and Dredd move to the front of the pack, by the hole, just to get their spells off. With Kayen right there.

Ogre, Elwita, and Freda all prepare behind them to jump down and do some damage.

I’m going to put together a battle map of sorts, because this will get real chaotic, real quick. Once the first spell is cast total surprise will be lost but we’ll keep the 5 initiative roll, as well as all the attack rolls and I can only allow one person in the hole at a time. I will allow two spells to be cast though, putting one caster right behind the other. But we have 3 casters, so here’s what we have:

Dredd casting Slow: it’s the longest casting time at 3 segments, but you can drop it anywhere in the circular area or platform, and catch up to 5 creatures, as long as they are within the 40’ by 40’ area of effect. It lasts 8 rounds for you. Everyone gets a save.

Kayen casting Sleep: a 1 segment cast time, lasts 20 rounds, you can also drop this 15’ radius area of effect anywhere in the area below. This spell is HD affected though remember, but no save.

Phanstern is casting Colour Spray (nice!): it’s another quick spell, 1 segment casting time, the range starts at the caster, which limits you a bit, but the cone goes out 50’. It will affect 1d6 creatures, but the effects of the spell depend on the HD of the creature. So lower HD creatures are more adversely affected than higher.

For our fighter types, I’m assuming Freda goes down first and starts firing, Ogre next, cause you can’t restrain him at this point, then Elwita and lastly Kayen. The last three charging into battle. But this is, of course, after the spells have gone off and (hopefully) the accountant has been backstabbed.

Let me know if any of this is incorrect and give me an hour or so to put up the map for AOE and actions.

..

HPs: Elwita - 26/50; Ogre - 45/45; Delgath - 25/25; Blodgett - 10/20 ; Freda - 29/40; Phanstern - 25/25; Eljayess - 17/25; Kayen - 25/25
WIH: Elwita: war hammer (cross bow), shield; Ogre: Long sword (20' radius light) (short bow), shield]; Delgath: Staff; Blodgett: short sword (sling); Freda: long bow (long sword), shield; Phanstern: dagger, lantern; Eljayess: Spear, shield (long bow); Kayen: long sword (long bow), shield]
MO: Lul, Eljayess, Kayen, Blodgett, Ogre, Elwita, Freda, Delgath, Phanstern, Arno 13 slaves…….
Consumables: Bullseye Lantern (Phanstern) - (124 minutes left) 80' radius, 10' wide beam; Torch - (not lit, 60 minutes), 40' radius.
--------Spells: Delgath 1-4/4, 2-1/2, 3-1/1 : Phanstern: 1-3/4, 2-2/2, 3-0/1; Eljayess: 1-2/4, 2-2/3; Kayen: 1-3/3, 2-2/2

Here's the map, of particular importance to the spellcasters.
Please let me know where you are centering sleep and slow, and where the cone is headed.
Each square is 10' by 10'.
Thanks!

It seems that Blodgett shouldn't go down the ladder until spells are cast, as he doesn't want to get caught in the areas of effect. How long will his invisibility last?

OOC: I might be mixing up 1st and 2nd Edition's description of the spell (I'm at work and can't check right now; but I remember the following)....but in one of them; it's essentially FOREVER until an attack is made; the invisible person is hit; the spell is dispelled or another spell is cast. I remember this; because as a DM I thought this was a little silly; I believe my mod was to say 1 hour per level of the caster or any of the listed things happen; i.e. attack, another spell is cast, etc. However, in this case....I sincerely hope Blodgett stays invisible for as long as he wants too! :)

You got it. It's forever, until either dispelled or Blodgett makes an attack.
And darn you for not sucking up HD for the AOE spells! :P

After the spellcasters and quicker moving members of the party have dropped down and launched their attacks; Ogre drops down and rushes the first thing he sees that is standing and conscious and takes a mighty swing with his sword at it......(I.e. the first non sleeping target; preferably something within rushing range that looks like it is about to launch an attack whether orc, weasel, whatever)

Attack roll with Longsword: 1d20+4 (STR, Specialization and +1 sword): [1d20+4] = 4+4 = 8

Well, that's probably a miss; but just in case it isn't: Damage roll: 1d8+6 (STR, specialization and +1 sword): [1d8+6] = 1+6 = 7

I'm waiting to launch my attack once we know more about who's sleeping, slowed, and color sprayed! :) I just wanted to let you all know that Blodgett is ready to pounce and backstab.

I'm pretty good to go, I'm hoping to update the thread real soon. Just got wacky shocking news at work. Learned in an email to all staff that my boss was termed. Learned in same email that I am the replacement for the time-being. :shock: Glad I have my supervision with the CEO tomorrow morning so that he can tell me what's going on. Sorry folks, I will move this forward as soon as I can.

Day 1– In the complex – 11:31 a
Round SURPRISE!
The Slave Pits

Firstly, my apologies to all. Work got insane.

Blodgett disappears and, everyone assumes, waits for the other spells to go off.

Phanstern and Dredd move to the front of the pack, by the hole, just to get their spells off. With Kayen right there.

Ogre, Elwita, and Freda all prepare behind them to jump down and do some damage.

Dredd casts Slow: It seems to affect the accountant, and weasels 1 - 4. The accountant, slowly, gets up as he realizes something is wrong and starts drawing his sword and reaching for his pouch at his belt.

Kayen casts Sleep: Concentrating on the concentration of orcs in the center of the sewage moat. All of those orcs (5 – 10) fall to the ground and start snoring.

Phanstern casts Colour Spray: He concentrates on getting that accountant and as many weasels as he can get. The accountant gets a face full of colors, but, slowly, seems to shake it off unaffected, 3 of the weasels let out uncomprehending squeals of terror as they collapse into unconsciousness. The colors then seem to settle over the two orcs nearest the accountant who are already sleeping.

There’s a scuttering of little feet going down the ladder as Orcs 1, 2, 3, and 4 (the only ones left standing) look around befuddled by all the sleeping and colouring that’s going on. The accountant and one of the weasels are moving, though slowly, and another weasel seems to sniff the air and head towards the ladder.
Freda goes down first and starts firing, she is able to get down after (she hopes) Blodgett and move north to shoot at orcs 1, 2, and 3, able to get off all three arrows. The first and third arrows fly true, going completely through the necks of orcs 1 and 3, blood spurting they drop to the ground. The second arrow also pierces the neck of orc 2, but doesn’t go all the way through, snagging on some armor. Still though, the orc drops to the ground, unbelievable amounts of blood spurting through the small arrow holes.
Ogre next, faces the weasel, but misses with his sword!
Elwita also jumps down, in between Freda and Ogre, and takes a swipe at the weasel (#5 is the only one close) she manages to hit the weasel once for 9 points of damage. This definitely hurts the weasel, but it continues its attack!
Squeezing past the backs of the Ogre and Elwita on one side, and Freda on the other, Eljayess is able to charge forward to attack the accountant. She's impressed by a move he makes which, if he was at full speed, would have avoided the attack, but because he is slowed, the spear gets through his defenses puncturing him in the side.

That one weasel is attacking full speed and engaged with Elwita and Ogre, there’s another weasel (#2) which is attacking half speed and heading toward Eljayess, the accountant is moving half speed, drawing a sword and opening his pouch, and there’s one orc left standing. Well done!

Here's a map of what the spells did, I'll make a more proper battle map for next round:

Okay, Blodget can still go at the end of this round. You all won initiative for next round, but there’s a bunching up around the bottom of the ladder. Elwita and Ogre can move forward to engage the weasel giving other folks the opportunity to get down and attack. You’ve won initiative for this upcoming Round 1, so please make your actions and their corresponding rolls.
