"Already done, sir. I will handle his comm as you have instructed. Will you be reviewing the paperwork in the safe before they arrive? Without the right papers, they will retain possession of the body."
Garvin says
"Yes, just as soon as everyone's had their meal we'll look over the papers".
He makes sure all are aware and optionally present for the review of the documents.
Once everyone has had an opportunity to finish eating, Roscoe will retrieve the folder of paperwork from the office safe and bring it to the common area, giving it to Garvin before going into the kitchen to do something.
The folder is basically stuffed with various papers. There is no discernible rhyme or reason, much less organization. You probably should be grateful there isn't barbecue sauce on most of the paperwork. Most.
The first thing you find is the sales paperwork for the
Lost & Found. As you were told, it only mentions being transferred to the guild for "services rendered" and does indeed have the stipulations and restrictions that Madam Treegarden mentioned. It is labeled on the document that this is a certified copy of the official paperwork filed with the Glisten Starport Authority. The paper is constructed in such a way that any type of alteration would be blatantly obvious and it has an official seal and small chip embedded in the paperwork. Scanning the chip connects anyone's comm unit with the Starport Authority database and shows the original paperwork. It matches what you have in your hand.
The next thing you find are the banking documents. They list the account information for the guild and there is a card that accompanies it that can be used for purchases. There is a letter from the bank indicating that others can be added to the account by presenting the card, the guild paperwork, and this letter at the bank. You'll almost certainly need Mad Dog's death certificate, too.
Next up is an official will. It seems that Mad Dog was forced into creating a last will and testament by Madam Treegarden. You know this because there is a handwritten sticky note attached to the will complaining bitterly about how useless it is.
"It's not like I'm going to drop dead next week," the note reads. According to the will--which is brutally short--all of his possessions go to the guild upon his death. You're not exactly sure what those possessions might be, but if you find anything, you have this will to back up the guild owning it.
There's a sales receipt for a scout ship to a salvage company named Anders Reclamation. It's dated about nine months ago and indicates that he sold his scout ship for Cr 100,000. It lists the condition of the vessel as unspaceworthy and scrap.
Right underneath that is another banking card and the paperwork for a personal account. Odds are, that's where the payment for the scout ship was deposited. As the last will and testament transfers ownership of it to the guild, that's probably covered but will require a visit to the bank to sort out.
Then comes up the guild paperwork. It's a charter for Retrieval Services Unlimited. It lists Joey Vincenzo as the founding officer and president of the organization. From a legal standpoint, it gives the guild authority to send people to collect bounties and to do the sorts of things that bounty hunters do. It indicates that all employees of the guild would become full members and assume ownership of the guild upon the death of the founder. It also says that the guild may not be disbanded while it is in possession of the
Lost & Found. Once again, there is an embedded chip that allows you to view the original filed document and it matches this in every particular. In addition to the founding papers, the online site lists all of the employees of the guild as of its founding earlier this week.

And finally, there is a sealed packet. This would be what was delivered by Madam Treegarden and handed over to Roscoe. It is unopened and still sealed with a strip of tape that would indicate if it had been accessed. It's moderately thin but you can feel some things moving around inside if you shake it.
As I am confident that Jaelah will be scanning everything, this particular packet does have some contact DNA from a female human.
Inside the packet once it is opened, you find a stack of papers and identification documents with a handwritten note on top. It reads:
Mister Vincenzo,
These are for Roscoe. I used the last name you provided with your employee list when you formed your guild, so thank you for at least thinking that far ahead.
Rest assured that I have no intention of revealing what I suspect about him to anyone. Like your ship, it is a secret that I will not let slip. I hope that he finds the universe an amazing place and that he achieves great success.
When you return for your annual maintenance in a year, please ask him to contact me. I would like to discuss what he's seen and done, as well as hear what he thinks about everything. I believe that his viewpoint on many subjects will be absolutely fascinating.
Roscoe is the first of his kind (so far as I know) and I greatly approve of the last name you selected for him, though I doubt you considered the implications and merely chose the first thing that popped into your mind. If for no other reason than him, I wish you well.
Aster Treegarden
There is another one of her cards attached to the note.
What you find in the papers provided for Roscoe are official identification documents for one Roscoe Adams, including birth documents (listing him as having been born in Glisten City), educational files for the schools here, employment records on various ships, and everything else that a citizen of the imperium would collect over their life. There are shipboard certifications as a pilot, astrogator, and an engineer. Then there is the almost impossible to fake Imperial ID card with Roscoe's picture on it. It seems like it might have been taken aboard the ship and the image cleaned up before being used as he is wearing the same strange clothing he is now. All of the documents look authentic to those with the skills to spot or create forgeries. As they are obviously not authentic, that means someone with impressive skills and access created them
The documents inside the package also have the same female DNA on them.
I don't think I've forgotten anything, but since I am fallible, if something else pops up that you need official paperwork for that should have been provided here, it will also have been in this folder. Just tell me what it is, and I'll add it
