Nis smiles at the sweet young ranger Vari. Sweet girl. She'll tell you her name when she is ready. The best way is to spend time with her. Duck deigns to allow Vari to pet him, making a gentle purr of contentment. Nis all but giggles at Vari's interaction with Duck. Yes he earned that name when we first met. He was making a hauk sound to attract at wood duck, the clever wee beastie. she grins widely. I fetched the bird down with Seabhag here and Ducky and I split the take. Bending down she scritches the cat behind the ears. Nothing like sharing a meal to start a good friendship. the purring intensifies.

Turning back to the freed girl she lays a hand on her arm to let her know she hasn't forgotten. Indicating herself she says, Niserie. Indicating the ranger she says, Vari. Finally, gesturing to the freed girl, she prompts the stranger to share her name.

Later she will ask around to see if anyone understands the language the girl speaks.

====
Any salvageable arrows amongst the camp?
Are there any obvious posessions of the girl's anywhere? Perhaps the collapsed tent she was held in?

Torvik doesn't object to anyone taking anything "Best put everythin ta good use so don't bother me none. Me I gotta stick with lighter armors anyway, it hinders me skills ta wear anything heavier than leathers. Hmm now that ring wonder if anything special bout that thing." he says eyeing the emerald ring found. "Hmm and gotta question fer the group, what we plannin ta do wit them prisoners? Gonna make any watch shifts rough if we ain't got nough people guardin em."

Wilwayaisawén

Wilwarin silently searches the campsite for clues, reproaching herself for allowing the instinct to protect the girl prevent her from concentrating on Zedamande. Her frustration and self-recrimination make her brusque and distant as she looks for Zedamande’s possessions.

As a poor consolation she examines the bone that Grey-Robe wielded, then studies his book and staff. Perhaps, when she has rested and the party is in a safe haven, she can identify them...
"Hmm and gotta question fer the group, what we plannin ta do wit them prisoners? Gonna make any watch shifts rough if we ain't got nough people guardin em."
It is dangerous to free them, and dangerous to keep so large a band, as they are. Both options are safer, if they are less able to cause harm. Wilwarin lets the implication hang.

Nis shakes her head, indicating the armor doesn't interest her in the least. Regarding the prisoners she replies wit the barest amusement, I can help.I don't sleep much.

Finally she approaches the only other Elf and the last new face. She stops a short space away and waves. In Elven, You were pretty impressive with that. Nis gestures to the sword. I'm Niserie. she smiles. I'm sorry the other ones got away, but I'm glad you are alright. You were really in the thick of it.

If the opportunity presents itself, she will ask about the Aurens

Mave

Mave says, "I agree they deserve justice and once we get them to Gull's Landing, they will find it. And should any of them," said loud enough that they may hear, "cause us trouble, we will have to dispense justice on our way there." She pauses a moment, calculating how long it will take to reach Gull's Landing. "To be honest, I've never traveled this way on our family's lands, but I do know the village of Haldin lies but an hour and a half from here. We could make it there and put up for the night. There will at least be one, or more, of my father's soldiers stationed there as the town guard. So we would have help watching them while there." She really didn't want the men's blood on her hands.

Thena

Let's take everything.... I can cut the weight of what we carry to the next town. We can sell and have things identified, hopefully, there.

If any of the prisoners do anything we will mete out justice accordingly... dropping them in Haldin sounds like our best move, gets us in a real town as well.

Thena will ask Tempus to lighten the groups load for the day, per her special ability. She takes the plate mail discussed earlier, the fine wine, the monies, the vials, and anything else that may have value.

OCC: Can we put together a list of what we took as a party from the dungeon and this encounter? When we reach a town let's try to have things id'd, distributed, and sold. Does that work?

Torvik sighs "Well if that be tha case we shoulda just killed em in battle. But anyway I ain't no executioner as I've said afore. I ain't not brutal bastard neither. They cooperate I ain't gonna harm em. They try ta escape I'll drop em." he says with full honesty and conviction, anyone listening knows he isn't bluffing.

Esdra had taken some severe wounds during the battle, but when she reappeared she was completely healed. Even grey-robes ducked into the tent and came out in much better shape. I'd be willing to bet those vials are healing potions. Nis offers

I'm not sure what "case" your referring to Torvik.... I think Mave and I described the same scenario in different ways, the prisoners get dropped with the courts/militia of the next town we encounter to face justice. Are you thinking of something different?

The girl nods as Nis indicates her name and then Vari's, she smiles and points to herself, "De'Athrya," then pauses a moment and continuing to point at herself says, "Deth". Vari looks confused, "Did she just say Death?"

Kade looks to Commander Torvik, "Should we bury the dead Commander?" Ruskin hearing the newcomer's theory says, "I bet she is right. They are probably healing draughts. The best way to find out is try one. Commander, I volunteer for the task, if you want me to try." After hearing his response, Ruskin also adds, "Perhaps Vari and I should make an inventory of what we have found here and in the mines. That way we can determine what to take and what to leave since we've lost our wagon."

I'll get together a list of all the items in my next post.

Wilwarin smiles at the newcomer:

I am Wilwayaisawén, Wilwarin among these companions.

How we came to be here together is something only the gods can tell, and I ought to be grateful for it. However, if the girl had not been here, she would not have diverted me from my quarry. I am glad she is safe, but I would be happier to have Zedamande instead of these brigands.

She looks fondly on Nacquessë:

I should have done better by him, but I am still learning.

Wilwarin holds up the bone she has been examining for all to see:

I believe this is a Wand of Magic Missiles. Unless any have a better claim to it, I will keep it.

Torvik holds up a hand "Now hold up volunteerin ta taste test random potions. Based on what was seen they probably are indeed healin concoctions. Best save em fer those that need em most. As fer bury their dead dun matter ta me bury em, burn em. Lets just not leave em ta rot is all I'm sayin."

As to the "case" he is referring to it is the prisoners and everyone expecting they'll make it all the way to the landing with all of them in tow. "All I'm sayin is it's gonna take a lot fer us to watch them bastards and expect ta make it all tha way ta the landin with em all in tow, plenty of ways fer em to slip away since we can't all stand guard all night long."

I do not see why we should deprive the local wildlife of a meal by burying these, but if you find it disagreeable, set the survivors to the task. If anyone cares, it is them.

They can dig an extra hole or two while they are about the work. In case they chose not to cooperate when we ask them for an account of who they are, and what they are about.

I also intend to discover where those who fled might have gone next. I doubt this band were wandering randomly.

As to the potions, we have a few we know to be safe. We ought to use those before gambling on new ones. Though I am inclined to believe they are good.

Mave

Mave curious at the girl's indication of her name, now points to herself and says "Mave".

When she hears them speak of burying the dead, Mave says, "While I don't disagree, forcing their comrades to bury them is a good idea. It might be better to just leave them be for now. Once we reach Haldin, I'll have the bodies carted into to town. There may well be bounties on their heads." She looks to the prisoners, "Names for your dead would be appreciated." She stands before the one called Jiv, "If you tell us the names of the dead, and cause no further trouble, I'll speak on your behalf before my father, the lord of these lands. He may go easier on you."

She glances at Wilwarin when she speaks of the wand, "As far as I'm concerned you earned it when he used it on you. I have no objection to you keeping it."

(Weird, i posted yesterday but I don't see it...)

Nis laughs hugs the girl. Perfect! Communication at last! Most lovely to meet you, De'Athrya!

When the Elven magus engages she smiles warmly. Wilwayaisawén, what a gorgeous name! I love it! (fun fact: Waya means wolf in Cherokee). She lays a comforting hand on her arm regarding her remark about thr sword. We are all learning. Seabhag, she indicates her intricately carved longbow, has protected me many times, but is constantly reminding me I need more practice. "Patience, practice and perseverance." My mother would tell me.

When Wilwaren speaks about the enemies. Sorry, I would have helped more if I had know he was the bigger threat. I just chose one of the two targets still coming after you. If you don't mind my asking. Who is this Zedamande?

Later she will ask if anyone knows who or what 'The Aurens' are.

I take it nobody in the party speaks De'Athrya's language?

Any spare arrows found?
