"I see. Thank you, Mr. Bobo." He still strongly suspects an agent of Wendall is following them, that this place is yet part of another test or challenge the wizard has devised. Perhaps if they did get off the street for a while, at least the copper vultures skulking in the shadows will slink off to find new marks. "Alordan and Theo need arrows and apparently this Viktor has the best quality weapons, so let us proceed inside."

The Lost Tavern
The Ethereal Marketplace

The children all laugh at Bobo when Andron refers to him as Mr. Bobo. They stay outside and stand guard with Cresty as the group enters the store named Viktor's. "So, do you have any money on you, big guy? How long do you think it will take them in there?"

Inside, the store is much larger than it looked from the street, and totally filled to the rafters with weapons of every make and size. Every wall has something dangerous looking hanging from it, and several shelves line the interior. A smiling man stands behind a counter near the doorway, holding a vicious looking hand ax and greeting you with a strange accent.

Alordan relaxes - a bit - at what seems to be like the first normal interaction the group has had in some time. He know it won't last so takes his mind of worrying about but examining any obvious arrows or bows.

Lerrick

The cleric follows the group around the establishment, looking at various weapons and mentally judging the damage they'd do if hit squarely by them. She has no need for such weapons as she is more concerned on how to heal someone who suffers from an attack of such weapons.

Cresty

In a tone of authority the fighter states Stand back children! The little lads are really starting to bother the fighter as he thinks to himself I don't know what is worse...being turned to stone by a gorgon and then being broken to pieces by an angry minotaur or being constantly pestered by the little ones. AGGGGHHH! he bellows in frustration. He then enters the weapons shop

Theo clears his throat. Um, Mr. Victor? I'd like to see your longbow arrows. Specifically, broadheads, willow leaf heads (also called armor piercers), bowel rakers (you know, the levered blade ones that expand on entering shooting soft targets), plus twos (also known as tridents, that give two more little chances at striking a goblin's tiny evil heart), whistling bulbs (also called harmonica heads; the ones that make a signaling sound when they fly. Preferably different types with three distinct pitches), smackers (the ones with blunt heads for doing non-lethal damage), wedgies, and... anything else you've got. I prefer hawk or falcon fletches, but raven or crow will do. Ostrich is OK too. As long as the feathers from the birds were humanely harvested. I'm not picky. Also no painted shafts. It's well-known that some unscrupulous fletchers hide inferior wood under paint. Oh yes, and I also need a second quiver, for backup supplies. Is there a test range where I can test-shoot the merchandise before buying?

He thinks a minute. On second thought, never mind about the smackers. I doubt wanting to do non-lethal damage will ever come up back where we're from.

He continues. And also a back scabbard for this beauty, he continues. He proudly displays his glowing but simply furnished, slightly magical bastard sword, which he has recently taken to mentally calling "Miss May Queen." He looks at it fondly, as if looking at the face of a beloved friend and second-cousin. The parsimonious ranger adds, under his breathe. There's a discount for buying in volume, no? Any coupons available? I'm just a humble country ranger, not a rich lord in a manor. You know?

The Lost Tavern
The Ethereal Marketplace

"You look funny. Are you sure you're feeling okay, mister?" Cresty is hammered with questions and comments from the children before eventually giving up and entering the store behind the others.

Viktor smiles wide at all the requests, happy to show off his wares. "Ve haff all those things and more. Follow me, please!" The human looking proprietor leads the group around his massive store, pointing out requests as they pass them along the sea of shelves. "Pick out vhat you like. If you buy enough from Wiktor, ve give you a wery good price package deal, no?"

All of the weapons you see and try look like they are made of good or even exceptional quality, but everything on the shelves are normal items. At the first sign of disinterest, Viktor continues, pointing at the wall above the front counter. "Wiktors is top notch store, so no funny business here. Ve even haff the good stuff, no? Vith the magic built inside? Only store in Marketplace allowed to sell the magic items. Price on those.....wery high." Looking upon the wall, you see a good selection of very high quality and likely magical weapons hanging there.

"Ve dont haff arrow practice range here, but ve haff a couple straw dummies out back you can take a few vacks at if you like."

Actions?

Do we want to RP out each sale? Or would you prefer to pick out what you need and ask for a package price?

Package price makes sense. I assume Viktor doesn't offer financing for the magical stuff, so Andron will just select a normal staff for himself.

There are plenty of scimitars in stock, but no shields, wooden or otherwise.

The selection of bows is very impressive, some come at a high price however.

Staves of all kinds are available for purchase as well. Reasonably priced.

So far, this is what I have confirmation on:

Plain leather bastard sword back sheath 5gp
Plain leather quiver 2 gp
Plain Oaken staff 2 gp
+5 Vorpal Longsword 60,000gp
Broadhead arrows 2gp/dz.
Willow leafs 5gp/dz.
Tri points 10gp/dz.
Whistling bulbs (only one tone) 10gp/dz.
All items are good quality with no painted shafts.

The package price for what's listed with one dozen of each arrow type would be 30gp total.

The more you buy, the better the deal, so if anyone else wants something, now is the time.

Could we rent the vorpal sword at least? :)

How about a magical bow? +1 arrows?

Probably out of reach.

He only has small gems on himself at the moment. If Viktor can break a 25gp gem, Andron can pay for the staff.

Tlachtga only has 50 something gp and 3 25gp gems. She could afford 1 or maybe 2 +1 sling bullets if he even has them and then be broke so not planning on buying anything.

Cresty

The fighter can't help but glance at the shiny sharp swords on the wall, all the while knowing that they are off limits

Lerrick

The cleric moves from row to row of weapons, checking out the maces and hammers, although she has no intention of buying a new one or trading her own mace. A brief flash back of a memory not too long ago takes her back to the island where a good cleric was killed and later transformed into an undead chocking machine. She rests her hand on the mace, which at the time, hit the hideous creature three times-in-a-row, with the final blow causing the creature to let go of the neck of the one known as Sir Crestbrook the Mighty, now called Cresty.

Theo is impressed by Victor's selection of arrows. He holds each one to his eye and looks down the shaft, checking for perfect straightness and cherry-picking them into three piles. Well, 12 piles-- three for each type. If there is any drumming of fingers or tired sighing by anyone during the long time it takes him to finish, he is oblivious to it.

He highly covets the beautifully-crafted magic bow. The way every bard wants to someday own a Wipsen Res Baul or a Cacovarius violin, every ranger dreamed of owning a bow like that. The trouble was, he was over 4,940 gold pieces short of the asking price. At this rate he'd be over 90 years old before he could afford one. Come to thing it, it was usually the old men too old to have any reason to use them who could afford to have the really pro bows.

Mr. Victor, you I appreciate your discernment in your procurement of your arrows stock. Good, well-dried yew shafts, good smithing of the heads. Not that I'm talking you into raising the price...! he jokes, with poor delivery. [/dialog]I'd like to take a dozen each, but the problem is I can't carry all of them around. And I don't know when or if I'll ever have a place to store them. Where we're from, probably never. So instead, I'd like:
9 broadheads
6 willow leafs
2 tri points
1 whistling bulb
And the quiver and the sheath.[/dialog]
He does some mathematical figuring strokes with his finger on the counter. That comes to 13 and a half gold, I think. He digs for the coin pouch stashed deep in his pack and counts out 13 gold and 10 silver. Oh, and have you got a little spade? A lightweight one, maybe folding to fit into a pack? You never know when you might need to dig a hole. A lot of people don't plan ahead and end up using their swords and daggers for that. A shameful use of a fighting blade. Especially one as fine as this one. With his eyes he indicates the bastard sword hanging on his back slung by a section of 50' rope.
