Chapter 0: The Gathering

Garrant is happy to head north with the others.

Franny wipes as much of the mud off of her that she can before heading out, obviously getting the short end of the transaction.

As the party heads forward, the road starts to the north and makes a wide eastern turn about a large hill before continuing north traffic is limited once you get past the farmer of the morning.. After the turn, you get occasional views of the Sule River through out the morning to your east. The party making reasonable time and comes to the town of Emberton about 15-20 minutes before noon. Compared to Loftwick this is not really a town, but really a resting spot between Loftwick and North Reach that has about 300 total residents of which most live on surrounding farms, bee harvesting and lumber. There are only 6 buildings in the main town - The Bee's Honey Inn, the town smith, The Town Guard Barracks, a general store (or more specifically The General Store), a small church to Trithereon and 100 yards to the east is the wood mill at the Sule river that you finally see up close.

Boff and Franny's horses are the most winded and ready for a break with there slightly heavier loads that they others. The group implied they perhaps wanted to spend an hour in the middle of the day resting and this might be the best place to do it.

Qleceec will dismount and stretch, while keeping an eye out for anything unusual.

"Perhaps we should enquire at the Inn to see if they can see to both our mounts and provide a quick, hot, meal so we can continue on in good time."

Boff agrees with Garrant, knowing little about the stamina of horses himself.

He dismounts at the inn's stable or hitching post and removes the packed gear and tack from the tired horses. He looks around for a stable hand, if any are available, telling them to tend to the horses while they eat.

"Is an hour enough time fer the beasts ta rest? Er should we ask about tradin these in fer some fresh mounts?"

The next thing on the dwarfs mind is food and ale. He picks any caked mud off Franny before they enter the inn.

"I don't think we can afford more than an hour, if they can do a hot meal in that time it would be good."

"I can stay out and watch the horses if someone doesn't mind bringing me out something to eat."

She will unsaddle her horse and get the panniers off her pack horse, make sure they have some water and food.

If there isn't any help available for the horses from the Inn then Garrant will see to his horse's comfort before getting food for himself.

Two stable-hands guide the horses to some shade in the back that has hay, grain, water and some places to take off a few saddles. They each take two horses at a time.

The cavalier dismounts and begins to lead the horse himself into the shade, unsure of the stable-hands' ability with war horses. "We will likely find a proper horse trader in North Reach to trade mounts, if necessary. I advise we distribute that mining gear between the horses on the next stage, though." After tending to his horse, he joins the others for a hot meal.

Nah Olos dismounts once the stablehands appear and enters without waiting for anyone. He takes a long look around as he walks to an empty table large enough for their group.

He sits and rubs his stomach. "Nah Olos mighty hungry. Friends come in too."

if there are other patrons already inside, he will chuckle inwardly at their shock/terror

Once he is happy the horses will be seen to he heads inside the Inn.

Over a few minute period of time the adventurers make it into the Inn. Not counting the stable hands there are two people working. A woman serving and a man in the kitchen. They have two types of dishes at the ready, a dark gravied stew for 2 sp a bowl or a plate with salami, honey cheese and grapes with a warm biscuit for 4 sp. In addition, the drink of the house is Honey ale (which is listed as "Sweet with a Sting") for 2 sp and a more traditional ale for 3 sp.

The woman has shoulder length auburn hair pulled back and says, "Good Day, my name is Rose. How can I help you on your journey" multiple time as people come in, but it becomes obvious that she is running about a lot since she only carries a single plate at a time in her right hand, the left hand appears to be injured, but she does not mention it to anyone in the Inn.

"Hello, I will take a bowl of stew, plate of salami and the honey please."

She pays and leaves her a 2sp tip as well. Once she has the food she heads outside to keep an eye on the horses.

"I'll have the stew and the honey ale, my dear, please. Forgive me for asking, but what happened to your hand? Maybe I can help you with it."

Androgost

Orders a bowl, plate, and two honey ales. He pays with a single gold coin, offering the remainder as a tip.

Nah Olos orders two bowls of stew and a honey ale. He sits so he can see most of the room.

Boff points out the injured hand to Franny, but it seems Garrant already has that covered.

The dwarves eat their meal quickly, as is their way. Boff can’t help asking his usual questions at each place they stop.

“Ya know anything bout these quakes we keep feeling? Heard anything about how they got started in the first place?”

Most of the group orders their lunch and Rose hurries bring out the food as fast as she can and when the food arrives it is pleasant and sweet, and the members of the party notice that honey ale is potent (alcohol content about 1.5 times that of a normal ale). She thanks everyone as they pay with an extra smile for any tip.

"Forgive me for asking, but what happened to your hand? Maybe I can help you with it."

"I was stung by a few bees and cut my hand pulling it out. At the moment I cannot grip with it."

“Ya know anything bout these quakes we keep feeling? Heard anything about how they got started in the first place?”

"We have no real idea, but there is a local legend about giants dancing to the same beat cause the earth the shake, but that is just a children's story in my opinion."

All of you get your food quickly and ready to leave in about 45 minutes.

Qleceec finishes up her meal, thanks Rose and heads out to check on the horses. Once outside and she has checked on the horses she will do some light stretching to get ready for the long ride.
