The Oasis
Re: The Oasis
Xenos
"I'm not sure the croc is going to let us stand there in front of it with a net. The only other thing I can think of is we put the net down on the ground under a tree, stake the goats harness to the ground so it can't move far, then when the croc walks on the net we pull it up around it, which means we're going to need some rope to attach to the corners of the net and over the tree. That way we can hide and wait for it."

Re: The Oasis
Tuurma listens in.
"That sounds good. Once battle is joined it will start throwing itself around and get stuck in the net by itself. Problem is, so will we if we attack. So it'd have to be totally stuck in the net before we strike."

"That sounds good, once we pull the net up we use all the missile weapons we have, then move in and finish it off. Who should be pulling the ropes for the net?"

Akhilleus
"Yeah, that sounds better.
If any of you has a rope, we may have to cut it in order to tie the net from various points. I don't have any."
To Drest. "I think you and Valkrina should do it. Xenos, Tuurma and me are more the fighting type. I don't know Kang well enough though.
What do you say?"

Re: The Oasis
Xenos nods
"Stabbing weapons would damage the net less than slashing ones, if you have them. If the Croc is that big will two be enough on the ropes, we need weight. Would those two brothers help I wonder.?"

Re: The Oasis
Tuurma paces back and forth, seemingly frustrated with the extended planning.
"No rope, sorry. The brothers are big guys, let them pull the ends? Let's get it now before it decides to leave!"

Re: The Oasis
Just for clarification: I'm not messing with you or our plans here, just trying to truthfully play out a hungry and broke berserker eager to get to combat

Re: The Oasis
Xenos
"OK, we might need a quick trip to town for rope." he glances at Tuurma "Or we make do with what we've got. Maybe there is enough foliage for us to hide in while we tempt it out with the goat. Some of us, with the net, could hide in a tree and drop it on the croc."

Re: The Oasis
Tuurma
"Couldn't we hide the net on the ground, covered, until it steps on it and then wrap the ends around it? I think it will tangle itself while trying to attack us?"

Re: The Oasis
Xenos nods at the suggestion
"That is an option, if there is somewhere we can place it where we can hide on either side."

"That sounds reasonable, and we could unravel part of it to use a rope for pulls if need be,"

Tuurma nods to her companions.
"Agreed, then."

Re: The Oasis
Okay, so the way I understand it is that we will hide the net best we can under stone and dirt. Then we will create two makeshift short ropes out of parts of the net, tie them to the corners of the net and give the ropes to Drest and Valkrina. We will then place the goat in the middle of the net, tethered in some way, and make a cut so it bleeds, and attacts the croc. When the croc is in the middle of the net, Drest and Valkrina will throw the ends of the net over it and all of us except Tuurma will throw a javelin and Xenos, Tuurma and Akhilleus will then close in for melee. Sounds about right?
Of course, there's also the fact that no plan has ever survived contact with the enemy, but let's deal with that in a few post's time.

Re: The Oasis
There is an area along the pool with a slighter sloping bank where the croc has left recent slide marks in the mud. There are a few trees nearby, but all of them have long, bare trunks without low hanging branches.
The net could be spread out here and easily covered with sand and any dead fronds that already litter the ground.
Once the game plan is reviewed and approved, and everyone has their specific duties solidified, I will get this thing started.
