Character sheet updates
About horse, Doos is a old judge, he knows what's right.
Did the older towntowa agree that they owe me a small favor?
Should I roll my new horse, or do you have the numbers?
And did you like my post?

From the revised list, Paladin will switch the single action for the double action revolver.
Playing to character, Paladin may have something to say to cowboys (and judge

)taking branded horses, being stolen. If unclaimed after reporting to the authorities, it would be alright. Otherwise it’s as bad as the rustlers.

These rustlers held our own character horses too did they not? While my own horse was a basic and underwhelming nag with little flair or intelligence, it was still my horse.
Sorry if I misunderstood. If my character-gen horse is there, I would obviously take that back with a preference to sell it and buy a better one rather than commandeer another horse though if it could be arranged to own the branded one, I would be up for that.

If I was unclear sorry. We are reporting the horses to the authorities.

William and Doos have the law skill and can roll to know how recovered stolen horses are specifically handled in Texas. (William has already rolled in his private thread). The other PCs know that the general rule is finders keepers for out of county brands. That's the general rule, but procedures in different counties differ.

William lays claim to the last lever action rifle and ammo (20 rounds, if there is that much) for it as well as the Chestnut quarter-horse with the Diamond 1 brand.
He lets the group know that the local law states out-of-county horses become the property of whoever recovers them. We just need a judge to approve and we can have them rebranded to clear up any future question of ownership.

Paladin asked the Tonkawa to cover the cowboys tracks for a half-mile, then split off, hoping to evade anyone tracking them back to San Marcos.
Did they agree to this?

Horses' quality and prices from the rules are posted in the Rules Discussion thread.

Answers to both Doos's and Paladin's questions about the Tonkawa will be in the IC thread.

Lever action rifle
Hunting/fighting knife
Pocket knife
Brass pocket watch w/ brass chain
Andreas Larson saddles his own horse, then looks over the gathered loot to see if there are any markings or engraving on them, specifically the last lever action rifle, the penknife and the pocket watch. If there are none, he takes those for himself. "Dees I can use. Compensation for time lost. Ve should turn in all branded horses. Trow de dead over dem und bring back vit us."

Sorry about that. The pocket watch has
R.D. engraved inside the lid/face cover. The other items are unmarked.

I realizes today that I'd forgotten about the shotgun. And there were two carbines and just one rifle. Here's a corrected list.
Updated items/loot after the rustler rustlers hideout shootout
Lever action carbine (taken by Doos)
Lever action carbine (taken by Paladin)
Shotgun (taken by Sebastian)
Single action revolver (taken by Gideon McLaury)
Double action revolver (taken by Paladin)
Single action revolver (taken by Charlie)
Excellent buckskin mare, with full tack (bar U$ brand (a horizontal line above "U$")) (taken by Doos)
Good arabian/rangy Texas horse mix paint mare (lazy S brand) (taken by Gideon as a trade-up)
Good arabian/rangy Texas horse paint mare (lazy S brand (a letter S lying horizontal)) (taken by Sebastian)
(GM randomly determined which one, player can revise))
Good bay quarter horse stallion (diamond 1 brand) (taken by Paladin)
(GM randomly determined which one, player can revise))
Hunting/fighting knife
Pocket knife
Brass pocket watch w/ brass chain (all taken by Andreas)
A deck of cards (taken by Sebastian)
$82.41 in bills and coins (divided among the chars; $11.77 each)
Firearms
Lever action rifle -
Both Andreas and William would like to have this. To be decided by the PCs. I don't want to decide that by whoever posted about it first.
Everybody's RL day is different.
Single action revolver
Single action revolver
Gideon's old cap and ball Navy Colt
Horses
Andreas's original horse (Fair, $50 buying price)
Charlie's original (Good, $100)
Paladin's original (Fair, $50)
William's original (Don't have the info on it)
Good arabian/rangy Texas horse sorrel mare (lazy S brand)
Sebastian's Poor horse traded-in ($25 buying price)
Gideon's Fair horse traded-in ($50)
7 bag of bones retired U.S. Army horses ($5 deposit put down on each)
Excellent chestnut quarter horse ("short horse"/sprinter) stallion, diamond 1 brand (a quadrilateral diamond with a vertical bar through the middle)
Taken by William, but the posse hasn't decided what to do with this item. Proposals:
a) Let William have it
b) Roll dice or cut cards for it
c) Sell it and divide the proceeds
You guys can RP it among your characters. If it creates a kind of dynamic, tensions between characters, camaraderie among others, within the group, it might be fun.
Like, for example, as in "Seven Samurai" or its remake "The Magnificent Seven."
(Horses' colors and breeds are just for RP purposes, per the rules. As much as I was tempted to specialize various breeds' qualities and weaknesses, based on the artist Frederick Remington's observations while traveling all over the Old West in the 1880s.).
Other
Pistol ammunition, 22 rounds remaining (after PCs took some)
Rifle ammunition, 53 rounds remaining (after PCs took some)
Shotgun ammunition, 21 rounds
Dirty bedrolls
Please check your PC's information and let me know if I got anything wrong.
PCs have moved their horses' tack can be moved from the poor U.S. Army horses to their new. Doos ends up with an extra set of tack (the dead rustler's that was on his new horse). He ca
Before hitting the road to San Marcos, there are things the PCs need to wrap up.
-Decide what to do about about the recovered Excellent horse. Or just let the claiming member of posse saddle, ride, and figure out a group decision later.
-Decide what to do about the remaining rifle that both William and Andreas want or need. That would have to be decided before departing. Otherwise it will left behind.
-Give Doos $1.25 to pay the Tonkawa, should you agree to do so.

Andreas Larson will not take the watch as it is engraved. However, he will take the last of the pistol ammo.

William will hand the rifle to Andreas. No fuss, he'll buy or acquire one at a later time.
He would greatly like to take the horse, however, and will happily add Justice (average Appaloosa) to the herd to be sold. If someone else really wants it, he'll happily cut cards, etc. for it.

I have the NPCs the party has met on an RPG management site called
scabard. I really like it. A GM can enter NPCs, PCs, places, events, etc. And their connections to each other. For example, you can connect NPCs "Slim" Davidson and Mike to the rustlers gang Group "Horse Rustlers." scabard will automatically connect Davidson and Mike together, and connect them to any connections the Group has ("Llano County," "Harvey Adler," "Wiley Brothers Teenage Horse Thieves," etc. And it will display a graphical, clickable chart of each connected member.
It's designed to be shareable with players. The GM can just mark certain things that players shouldn't know yet as Secret. If anybody's interested in using to remind themselves of who's who and what's what so far, I can send you an invitation. You'd just need to PM me or private thread me an email address. It's free, and I've been using scabard for couple of years now and haven't had any security issues. No ads-- it's funded by GMs subscribing for more deluxe features options. (My Bushido game scabard page has avatar images of all of the NPCs and places-- I haven't gone that full-on geek with the Boot Hill page yet.

)
It's a lot easier to check scabard than to have to look through threads and posts to find something to refresh your memory. If interested in getting access, just let me know.

Sebastian
I wonder that wherever he is, whether outside of town with the rustlers or in town; that Sebastian or someone on his behalf can get him a Doctor to treat his wounds.
As I carry a serious head and torso wound, both of which were subject to a failed medical check back in the saloon, it means I am subject to a -7, (give or take) shooting penalty which pretty much nerfs me as a gunslinger and if I heal only a point a week, going forward I am just a handicapped character.
My choices at present are to carry on playing a character who can only hit upon rolling a 1, roll a new character up or create a side arc with Seb retiring from this mission and "seven weeks later after recovering from his injuries" doing something new.
I'm trying to think of some way to make 7 weeks pass, but I can't come up with anything the other PCs could be doing during that time. About the only skill all of them share is gunfighting. And that involves very active gameplay that's hard to fast forward 7 weeks. I think probably most Boot Hill players retire a PC if they get really shot up. From what I've read about 1E, people would lose a PC every few tabletop sessions. It seems that it was more of a gunfight simulator than an RPG. 2E is more RPG-y, with character advancement, work skills, etc. But the way it disables PCs after a gunfight makes it a little hard to manage with groups of disabled and non-disabled PCs.

I run a system (HarnMaster) that has a brutal recover system and can take weeks to heal from some injuries even with magic healing involved. What we find works best is you get the group to a safe village, town, monastery whatever and just hand wave it. Seven weeks has gone by, everyone who wasn't recovering helped out around wherever however and that covered their room and board. All set to go again. Maybe throw them some info or hook and back to it again.
