I’ve been reading L5R (as I understand this to be the system’s acronym) in its 1st iteration. There some things I remember, some not so much. I only have the core rulebook and I’m not buying extra sourcebooks nor would I accept anything from them as well if provided to me. I have a good grasp of Feudal Japanese culture and I would expect every one to display proper deference to the rules of Rokugan society. I will be mixing my own ideas with a resource from a later edition for the adventure. Posting wise I think once or twice a week is fair. If you are okay with this then I’d commit to running the game.

Sounds good to me.

I can commit to posting RP on weekends, and at least once per week on weekdays. Especially since you're just staying within the framework of the core rulebook and expansions don't need to be considered or dealt with.

I was a backer for Greg Gillespie's Dwarrowdeep on Kickstarter. This is the same guy who created Barrowmaze and Highfell: The Drifting Dungeon. After a long wait, I've got the PDFs today (the physical copy is on its way. I'm stoked. I waited a LONG time for this. A dwarven megadungeon!!! So yeah, I want to run this but I haven't picked an OSR ruleset to use. I'm thinking a favorite of mine, Swords & Wizardry, or the ubiquitous Old School Essentials. Being a dwarven ruin, I thought it would be cool if a party of all dwarves decided to get together and explore their old homeland (the Hobbit, anyone?). I had an idea of allowing a dwarven magic-user and how I imagined how 'different' they would be from the other dwarves. Doesn't have to be that way, but I like the idea.
This is just to gauge the interest.

Interested too. Have to support any GM who has this much enthusiasm and investment in a project!

Also got to support kickstarter people who pulled it off. And a dwarves mega dungeon sounds really fun.
I've been checking out Worlds Without Number too. It seems to be a pretty adaptable and fairly easily learned system.

Gillespie will be running both Barrowmaze and Dwarrowdeep at Gamehole Con this October. Just an FYI.
This does look pretty cool and could be a lot of fun. Not sure if I can commit right now, but good luck!

This does look cool. I would be up for it depending on the system. Both the OSR systems I am good with, never played 3e or 3.5 and have no interest in trying to figure it out. I have no issues with Dwarf magic-users, lots of ways to make that work. Way back in 1979 when I started playing the DM allowed Dwarf fighters or clerics to make magic armor and weapons with the right components.

I'm pretty sure you could justify a lot of things via a Dwarven cleric; "Taste of Moradin's Forge" instead of just "Fireball".

Would anyone be interested in an old-school game set in the
Vaults of Vaarn, specifically in the teeming
frontier oasis city of Gnomon? The rules for the game are Knave-based, kind of a streamlined and updated (classless) version of B/X. Very non-standard character types, it is much more a sci-fi setting than a fantasy setting.

This looks interesting. I like Knave, Gene Wolfe, and Italo Calvino, so I seem to be on the right wavelength for this author.

Warning The scenario I have in mind will involve (a) factional conflict and intrigue; (b) possibly a
dungeon ruined AI complex crawl; (c) references to cannibalism; (d) two cruel and whimsical societal power structures in conflict with each other about which one gets to oppress the player characters and their friends; (e) probably other topics.

That reminds me of the online game EVE Online, which I used to play a lot. It has a pretty good backstory about the four racial space factions of humans.

Ideally, this is what I would like to play in PbP format.
An Indiana Jones-style pulp adventure game. Explore ancient ruins, rediscover forgotten lore, and recover relics. Kill the monsters and take their stuff
I'd prefer the system be B/X and/or 1e, or equivalent clones. 2e could work as long as it's not the later 2.5 stuff. Hell, I'd even play a 3e game as long as it was run more in an old-school style.
I'd also be interested in any of the following using an old-school rules set
A megadungeon game.
Forgotten Realms game (ideally using the 1e setting as its starting point)
A Dolmenwood type game
A Gamma World game
Having said all that, I could still be interested in games of other types. If it's D&D, I'll at least consider it. If you're looking for players, let's talk.

We're starting up a game using
Vaults of Vaarn, which is a setting packaged with rules very similar to Knave, which is what I call a retromutant = not quite B/X but looks like it in bad light if you're drunk. It's pretty easy to understand. And the setting+rules are PWYW.
I intend the tone of adventure to be two-fisted pulpy action. Initially it's not tomb-raiding but rather it's bounty hunting. We can get to raiding the eponymous Vaults, depending how the bounty hunting plays out.

Any interest in a Wild West game? Set in Texas and surrounding states just after the Civil War. I'd want to make it as historically realistic as possible (no magic, no zombies, no steampunk). Cattle driving cowboys, outlaw gangs, lawmen, Texas Rangers, vigilantes and frontier justice, Comanches, Kiowas, Apaches, U.S. Army, etc. Kind of a "Lonesome Dove" RPG. There's a lot of historical material to work with for homebrew out there (authentic maps, stories of outlaws, Indian raids, etc.) out there for easy and detailed homebrew development. The game and its culture (and some events) are already there. The GM just has to put the PCs into it, give them some info about the current setting and situation, and turn them lose.
Probably would use Boot Hill 3E, which seems to be a pretty good balance of offering players tactical options, without being overly complex/big time-commitment to learn. if anyone has a favorite system, we could consider it. There are quite a few of them that are Wild West-themed, or adaptable to the theme, out there.

I would be interested in a western game. System might make a difference but Boot Hill 3E would be a good choice.
