Dorathmoves just far enough forward to be within slinging range and let fly at the nearest creature, a bit off balance, the sling stone flies over his target's head.

Sling THACO 20 [1d20+2]=5+2=7 damage [1d4+1]=4+1=5

Redwarrior brought it to my attention that I made an error in the distance of the slings. Once we account for that, his shot at the leader of the opposition does actually hit. The other ranges for the short bows are correct, and the other shots by Igber and Traesta failed to make their mark anyway.
Fortunately, this does not change any other outcomes or actions. I'm sorry for the oversight.

The error was because two different missile range charts used different units of measure, I will correct this and endeavor to be more thorough in my verification process in the future. I will also be certain to include missile weapon range finders when I upload maps in the future so that you have a better understanding of your options.

If you have any questions about it, lmk.

Igber takes one look at the hotheads and starts to walk (diagonally) towards the rocks, sling at the ready and closing the range a bit, should the creatures come into range.

I don't think they'd be much suited as pikemen in the watch! he mumbles to no-one in particular.

While the rest of you are charging to the battle, the little beasty things also close, and their speed is astonishing. Most of them charge straight for Harker, but then veer off at the last minute. Two close to engage Harker so he cannot intercept the others who scramble into the rocks at the base of the hill on their right for strategic cover in the coming conflict.

Harker is the first to strike while you are all still closing on his position, but his swing is deflected, and causes his adversary no hurt. The small creature (#7) strikes back with it's spiked stick, but Harker deflects that attack with his own weapon.

Traesta reaches his side quickly to aid his stand. Creature #8 engages her, swinging his weapon and swearing in his strange guttural way.

Gurusql please select opponent 8, or 7 and make an attack roll, I've already resolved initiative.

Conweena is the next to reach an opponent, and she has no mercy. With a single strike, her axe divides the creature from pillar to post, as a brownish earthy goo coats her weapon.

Dorath doesn't really need to move far, but he does need better clearance for his weapon. He scrambles upon a nearby rock to get a better vantage of the battle, and lets a bullet fly, aiming it toward one of the humanoids who has snuck further past Harker among the rocks, but it is misdirected, and gets lost.

Pebble and Igber still linger from the skirmish line.

BackworldTraveller and Ravenn4544 please select an opponent and roll initiative and attack rolls. Initiative will be 1d10, I don't see a need for more than that. Also remember to roll attack, and declare your target using their designated numbers. I want to have as few misunderstandings as possible. As always, let me know if I've made a mistake somewhere.

From his improved vantage point, Dorath lets fly at the nearest creature he can see #1, if possible, followed by #2 and then #3, depending on what sight lines he has.

Igber, who was moving towards the rocks, stops and unleashes his sling at creature #1.

And having done so, replaces his sling with his blade

#2 is a mess of steaming entrails at your feet.
I'll assume you're going on to #3. I'm sorry I wasn't specific.

But her strike fails to damage the humanoid who only growls at her, lashing back with his weapon. She grunts at his assault, feeling pain from his blow, but it seems minor. More importantly, she sees another creature closing on her position.

should not have the -1 adjust to damage... but w/e. My error.

Pebble makes to charge at #2 to aid Conwenna, but sees the fiend crumble before her, so he turns towards #1 instead. #1, however has lost it's nerve at the dispatch of the other creature, and turns to run. Pebble makes little ground in the pursuit, and cannot attack.

Harker makes a valiant attack! His bright sword shining in spite of the dour gloom and rain. Unfortunately, his actions are all flash and no glory as the humanoids before him dodge the arc of his weapon. his opponent swings the makeshift mace at Harker in turn, but the paladin is able to parry the blow with his own weapon, and both continue to melee.

With a terrible smile and a bestial growl, Conwenna leaps over the quivering puddle of flesh her axe made of the humanoid, and she pursues #3, who immediately turns to flee. He cannot escape her however, and the second strike of her weapon finds it's meat, cleaving it's legs from under it with ease.

In her haste, Conwenna overlooked another humanoid hiding behind a large rock. Sensing an opportunity, it sneaks behind Conwenna to strike at her. Unfortunately, it's footing fails on the slimy bank, and his attack makes a loud splat as it strikes the earth at her feet, harmlessly.

With Pebble pursuing it, humanoid #1 flees his cover, scrambling to escape up the slope. Dorath, however has a faster weapon, and his bullet finds a mark where the creatures helm is thin, and he drops from the impact without knowing the form of his doom.

Igber is late to the action; probably overwhelmed by the chaos of events around him. He winds his sling to strike one opponent, and finding it slain before he is ready, turns to a second, only to see that one fall as well. Crestfallen, he draws his dagger, and starts towards a third.

By now, two more creatures have closed on the position held by Traesta and Harker. Without fear, they join the fray. #4 is frustrated by Harkers strong defense, his quick sword, and his strong armor.

Traesta is deeply involved in her fight, and cannot defend against another foe. The new opponent strikes at her, and she again feels the pain of their crude weapons, but still the hurt seems less than she would have expected.
Paldon's blessing is her only thought as she presses the attack.

Once again, announce target, and roll initiative and attacks. The creatures have roughly the same speed as most of you, but several are stuck in combat, and those who have fled found it did not help much anyhow. If another round goes this well, you may route them.

Dorath is hearted by his initial success, carefully loads his sling and swings it a few times to get it up to speed as his looks for a good target. Seeing a relatively clear path, he looses at number 5.
