Skiiratch raises an eye brow. The left one.

"Hmmm..."

OOC: If I try to run back, and make it through, then there is now a wall in between us and the doorway. If I don't make it, I get squished. If I stay here, maybe I have a chance of figuring out what happened and undoing it.

Skiiratch examines the glowing symbols on the floor to see if he understands them or can make them out.

Where exactly are they on the floor? Is there a part of the floor that is NOT covered in glowing symbols? If so, he'll step over to them to see if that stops the wall from closing. Or reverses it.

You recognize them as arcane glyphs used to trigger other enchantments. They cover the entire width of the hall and extend 5' from the south wall. They fade from view after a brief moment. Stepping out of the area has no effect. The rumbling and grinding continue.

The huge stone block now spans 1/3 the width of the hall. What do you do?

Cat Elfn, balik! (Come back) Not good t'be alone heern! The Dwarf will (Vainly, I presume) try to push the section of wall to keep it open, yet will not allow himself to be crushed.

"Sod it all..." Skiiratch mutters under his breath as he runs back to the other side of the moving wall.

If Bindle realizes the situation he will rush towards the oncoming wall and stick his Jo stick out for Skiiratch to grab a hold of and yank as hard as he can to pull him through once he's got a hold of it.

Either that was really, really good. Or it was really, really bad.

As the thief sprints for the exit he feels the room growing hot behind him, as if the sun itself were chasing him. Skiiratch clears the moving block with only a second to spare. The block slams home with a resounding THUD!

...If nothing found and Skiiratch wants to try the door, McCloud will offer to incant a 'hold portal' spell on the block to give time to access and assess the door...

I guess the look on his face told McCloud everything he needed to know about the doors and the trap...holding back then from any incantations, McCloud will vent his frustrations over the portal closing by whacking the stone blocks with the spade and then when it breaks; in a scene more reminiscient of wildish youth on a drinking spree, he'll take a piss scrawling his name graffiti style in urine over the wall...

"McClod woz here"..(grammar and spelling was never his strong point!).

then he'll leave the excavations and dump himself down upon the outside with the others...."did yer cat make it too?"

Bindle will pull back his Jo Stick as the youngster makes his way through. He returns to the outside and begins using his staff as a long pole to poke all around the surrounding mound hoping to randomly find another hole or entrance.

Dusting himself off, Skiiratch gets up and spits on the new stone wall in front of him. Then he begins closely examining the wall to see if there is any way of retracting it.

Tixs will look over McCloud's shoulder to see if he can add any insight to understanding the block.

Quinn joins Bindle in the search for an alternate entrance focusing once again on the eroded cliff face.

Several of you closely examine the huge stone block. After a very thorough 20 minutes of searching none of you find a way to move it or bypass it. It seems this corridor is sealed forever.
Mondego wrote:Quinn joins Bindle in the search for an alternate entrance focusing once again on the eroded cliff face.
You continue checking the cliff face and within 20 minutes come across another opening. The monk's staff sinks into the sand knocking a few bricks loose. As a result a large section of the concealed wall collapses sending a shower of bricks and sand tumbling down the slope. Both of you easily avoid being swept down hill.

Before you is a hallway...

Even a bit of daylight entering through a crawl space or a torch will reveal that this is an unusual tunnel. Bright, brilliant colors are to be seen everywhere, the stones and pigments undimmed by the passage of decades. The floor of the corridor is a colorful mosaic of stone, with a distinct, winding path of red tiles about 2' wide (the line snaking its way south down the corridor) easily visible to the onlooker. No stonework can be seen on the walls or the ceiling 20' above, for some sort of cement or plaster has been smoothed over all of these surfaces and then illustrated. The scenes painted show fields with kine grazing, a copse with several wolves in the background, slaves (human, orc, elven, and strange human-animal mixture - pig-human, ape human, and dog-human) going about various tasks. Some of the frescoes show rooms of some building - a libraryfilled with many books and scrolls, a torture chamber, a wizard's work room. There are chairs, windows, boxes, bales, doors, chests, birds, bats, spiders and all manner of things shown on the walls.

Tix will see that there is nothing left to see here at the block and leave the cave to see what the others have found.

After his spot of wall vandalism, McCloud will leave the now blocked entrance and go outside.

"Perhaps we need to mark the three 'entrances' in some way? who knows we might need to come back and not want to start digging all over again. Put up a couple of red flags for the false doors and a white flag (no that sounds too ominous!), green one for this new tunnel?"
